Khadas Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I would like to know if anyone has had the opportunity to try the new Tanix TX1. The dimensions are really small, only 58mm x 58mm x 25mm and it only has 1 USB port in addition to the HDMI port and the classic power jack. I know there are no Armbian images for H313 soc yet, too bad. This small TV box could be interesting for creating small servers connected exclusively via WiFi. Button 1 is the flash button, while button 2 is used to enter recovery mode. I tried images for H313 miniarch and others for H616 but I can't boot in any way. I'm using a USB stick obviously without using a USB hub but only the USB stick and for now only Android starts. 0 Quote
Khadas Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 We are talking about H313 and an eMMC in my case 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, I was unable to detach the heatsink and I avoid insisting so as not to damage the soc. 0 Quote
SteeMan Posted April 10 Posted April 10 @Antonio Ramos There is no one I am aware of working on TV box support on allwinner CPUs. TV boxes are community supported. That means people like you need to step in and do the work to make what you are requesting happen. 0 Quote
SteeMan Posted April 10 Posted April 10 @Antonio Ramos But the TX3 is based on a completely different CPU (AMlogix s905x3) than the TX1 (alwinner h313). So yes there is some community support behind the s905x cpu based boxes. But not currently any behind alwinner based boxes. 0 Quote
Khadas Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 @Antonio Ramos one person is working on the new Tanix TX1. we are at a preliminary stage but I think we can have fun with this little TV box, he already made a release with a Linux distro for X96Q and others boxes . The Tanix TX1 has the same H313 SOC but we are talking about minimal Arch Linux not armbian. I'll keep you updated without going too far off topic, 0 Quote
Khadas Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 I can say that a way has been found on a board to be able to run a minimal arch Linux distro. Unfortunately it is not easy and we are still in an initial testing phase. 1) Open the case and press the button located behind the audio jack during power on. At this point, use the USB male cable to load the modified image with Linux PC and Sunxi-fel utility to boot from USB. 2) Boot with a USB stick and USB keyboard hub and check that the Linux kernel starts. 3) Upload Linux image to eMMC. I am not at risk of carrying out point 2 and I will have to solder the cables for the serial port to understand where the problem is in my case. If there are any updates I'll let you know. If it is possible to create an image ready to be directly on emmc this could be within everyone's reach. 0 Quote
Sergej Skutelis Posted June 6 Posted June 6 @Khadas Tnx for the information. I have VONTAR QTV Q1, internals are the same. Will be great to have linux on a such small device for multiple purpose. Will follow this topic. 🤝 0 Quote
Khadas Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Since last week the official image for Tanix TX1 has been available but the installation procedure is complex as I had already anticipated. I remember that the Miniarch project is not linked to the armbian project and with this post I would like to close this thread so as not to go off topic. It is possible to open issues on github of our friend Piotr who develops the project alone. 0 Quote
