kay
I have root partition on SATA drive (/dev/sda1). I tried to use vanilla kernel, but it doesn't boot and even doesn't show HDMI output (I set root=/dev/sda1 in boot.cmd and recompiled boot.scr of course). But the legacy kernel with the same configuration works. Any suggestions why?

kay
It was my bad. I used old sdcard partition and didn't install latest uboot. After I installed latest uboot into sdcard - everything works fine.
