I have installed Emby server on several of my arm devices running Armbian, numerous times.  Just use the download section from the Emby website, and follow the instructions for the Ubuntu 14.04, and just that version has the correct  mono versions.

I installed armbian image with debian 8.9 not ubuntu. Will instructions work anyway?

Can't tell exactly for this case, but it's possible that you will need to start with the different - correct base. Some complex installations don't just work on Debian and Ubuntu at the same time. I can come out with one example (Openmediavaoult - OMV), which works on Debian but not on Ubuntu. At least not out of the box.

This is one of the reasons why we provide Debian and Ubuntu base.
