dr_toggleswitch Posted Saturday at 03:12 PM Posted Saturday at 03:12 PM (edited) WOW, I was really unhappy when I saw this, just goes to show you not to trust even projects like ARMBIAN on where they will connect to from your network, advise before anyone finds themselves in trouble having to explain why some of these connections..... I was downloading Armbian image and then got a warning that I couldn't connect to site called "FOREVER PIRATES" and became concerned... You can read it yourself... https://imgur.com/a/IQyzlvr Edited Saturday at 03:14 PM by dr_toggleswitch 0 Quote
Werner Posted Sunday at 05:36 AM Posted Sunday at 05:36 AM You don't have to trust/use torrents to download Armbian. All images are available via http/s download as well. We cannot do anything against people (ab)using torrent protocol for non-legal things nor can we control where these torrents spread/end up if this is your main concern. If you are concerned that an images you have downloaded is non-geniune run a check before proceeding with installation: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#download-and-verfication 0 Quote
laibsch Posted Monday at 11:58 AM Posted Monday at 11:58 AM @dr_toggleswitch If that concerns you, may I suggest to stop using torrents? It appears you don't have a good understanding how torrents work. 0 Quote
Igor Posted Tuesday at 08:02 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:02 PM For generating torrent files we use: - automatically generated public trackers https://trackerslist.com/#/ lists - web seeds on our servers to secure up to 70 (stable, community builds on around 10) places with 100% file availability Goal for providing torrent download option is maximizing download speed - for you! With torrent protocol, one can not have control where files are and also we don't have own trackers, but we use public ones in automatic way, thus we don't have control on which trackers our files are announced. All files are digitally signed, so nothing to worry about. Edit: if name "pirate" or something else bothers you, here you can submit a fix with some grep -v https://github.com/armbian/os/blob/main/userpatches/gha/chunks/650.per-chunk-images_job.yaml#L139 Perhaps porn and pirate ? 0 Quote
