How long should "compiling headers" take?

I ran "apt-get dist-upgrade" on armbian 8.8 and got 8.10. Then I ran
    apt-get install linux-dtb-next-sunxi linux-headers-next-sunxi linux-image-next-sunxi
Now the system has been busy with
    Setting up linux-headers-next-sunxi (5.41) ...
Compiling headers - please wait ...
for four days - since friday morning.

The system is actually running make & gcc, with changing PIDs
so it really /does/ something.
I just wonder how long this is gonna take.

Hardware is a Banana Pi Router R1

You can safely kill the process. Troubles of this kind are possible and for this reason, we don't ship headers with new images. But the process can, in fact, take hours on some prehistoric SD card.

BTW. We dropped official support for R1 since months - if an upgrade fails ...
