Clone the current armbian git 2.editing the config/boards/odroidc1.eos to add dev as kernel target (KERNEL_TARGET="next,dev"). 3. I copied the config/kernel/linux-odroidc1-next.config to linux-odroidc1-dev.config 4. I ran this command: ./compile.sh BOARD=odroidc1 BRANCH=dev KERNEL_ONLY=yes RELEASE=stretch This started compiling the mainline kernel 5.0.0-rc5. I noticed that the patch/kernel/odroidc1-next/general-packaging-4.17-next.patch has thrown an error, but the script continued with the compilation and all looked pretty good until the following error appeared: LD [M] sound/soc/meson/snd-soc-meson-axg-tdmout.ko LD [M] sound/soc/meson/snd-soc-meson-axg-toddr.ko LD [M] sound/soc/snd-soc-core.ko LD [M] sound/soundcore.ko LD [M] sound/usb/snd-usb-audio.ko LD [M] sound/usb/snd-usbmidi-lib.ko [ error ] ERROR in function compile_kernel [ compilation.sh:359 ] [ error ] Kernel was not built [ @host ] [ o.k. ] Process terminated I was not able to find a compilation.sh or a line 359, so I was not able to properly look up what is actually causing this error

ottuzzi Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Hi all, I wrote to amlogic mailing list and I got the tips to build a kernel with DVFS enabled on OdroidC1. I redid some tests using sbc-bench: Original Odroid Ubuntu 16.04 with 3.10 kernel (1824MHz): http://ix.io/1zdB Armbian 5.74 with 5.0.0-rc5 kernel (1200MHz NO DVFS): http://ix.io/1ApT Armbian 5.75 with 5.0.0-rc5 kernel (1536MHz DVFS): http://ix.io/1APH Original 3.10 kernel has a big big margin on tinymembench (about twice as fast as 5.0.0-rc5 with DVFS); 3.10 is 50% faster in OpenSSL and both kernels are tie on 7-zip (a bit faster 5.0.0-rc5). Attached the kernel-config I used to build kernel as reference and dmesg. *Ciao Piero linux-5.0.0-rc5-dmesg.txt linux-odroidc1-next.config 1

I wonder if the kernel supports the Armbian desktop variant or not. Because http://linux-meson.com/doku.php states that there is no HDMI support, but there is 3d acceleration. Thank you for posting the kernel config, I will try to build the desktop variant in 1 or 2 days.
kaiomatico Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Mh, I really don't know which of my parameters for the compile.sh are wrong, but no matter what I try the script always tells me that it tries to compile kernel 4.19.y I downloaded the linux-odroidc1-next.config in the correct folder and ran ./compile.sh BOARD=odroidc1 BRANCH=next and also tried the parameter DESKTOP_BETA_TARGET="stretch:next" , but as you can see in the attached screenshot it tries to compile 4.19.y

davidb Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Thanks for the latest mainline commits for the odroidc1 from Armbian and everyone in the amlogic Kernel Team, I'm delighted to update my odroidc1 to mainline. I've taken the existing default 3.10 odroidc1 kernel config as a base and completed a kernel menuconfig with the same settings, using 5.0.y. I've then removed out anything I don't need. The network settings are carried over from the 3.10 settings, I don't know if this is correct but it works and gives similar sbc-bench results http://ix.io/1Id9 to Ottuzzi (change line 181 in the script). I can post the linux-odroidc1-next.config when I work that out? Usb storage with uas, usb bluetooth csr8510 and docker are working, I've not tested usb wifi. Edited May 6, 2019 by davidb 1
davidb Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 I have the board working with usb bluetooth csr8510 etc, but only with no dvfs enabled. I guess my usb or dvfs settings are incorrect. I've tried various kernel settings and after a week of compiling I have to admit I'm stumped. Please find attached my working kernel config, with usb bluetooth but without dvfs. With dvfs enabled as per Ottuzzi's config the bluetooth adapter gives tx time-out or connection errors that show up in dmesg. I'm using the default bionic bluez v5.48 in both the working and non-working kernels, that leads me to think it's the usb or dvfs settings. I compiled bluez v5.50 from source with no difference. If anyone has any ideas please share? linux-odroidc1-next.config
alpe Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 (edited) Does DVFS works on the Armbian Bionic image available on the site? I know it says "no DVFS, fixed CPU frequency", but maybe it's outdated as you guys were able to make it work and you were using kernel 5.0 and on the site it's 5.1 now. I think I don't have enough knowledge to build it myself (without an updated step by step), that's why I'm asking. Thanks. Edit: Yes, it does. Edited July 22, 2019 by alpe
