Hi there,

I've tried to migrate from my old 16.04 ubuntu build machine to 18.04 regarding the documentation there is no need for extra packages. To get compile.sh running I've added build-essentials, ccache, make & libpython. Now there is a problem with openssl/bio.h.

Is there a complete list of packages needed? I've set up my VM using the ubuntu-18.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso image. Is it solely failing by not using the mini.iso?

Regards,

Sebastian

What exactly you are trying to do?

For testing, I'm trying to build a complete image for my orange pi one. In the old environment, there was no problem with it.

I understand that. But to be able to help you, I need to know everything ... starting with logs. But in case this is your build machine - starting from a clean Ubuntu Bionic image will be much faster.

Here my log I'll give it a try and reinstall my VM using the mini.iso.

Without the dialog and at least build-essential not even the menu appeares.

It's a lot more than that. Rather start with a clean image. No idea what is missing ...

That's what I'm assuming. For the old one 16.04 I've found a apt-get list but now it starts right away after installing with apt-get install git, git clone and sudo ./compile.sh.

Where can I find the other needed packages?

you only need a mini-server image of 18.04 64bit

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

and the git instructions from this page....after that my build-system did work without installing (manually) any other packages:

https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/

THere is no doc on how toread these logs and even the meaning of commands. All doc is a list of instructions to follow without any additional information (expected output, taken actions).

Log show that host system is broken. Why? Probably by some user intervention. Not important, since its not possible to recreate and build system works properly if you follow the docs. If you install build system on already changed system ... there is no warranty that things will work -> use recommended ways like dedicated VM/Docker.
