  1. @pulpoff What version of the images You tried to run ? Have you tried to start the system without manually copying the dtb (without the file "dtb.img") ? You have tried to use as a USB flash drive ?
  2. You can try to write there, maybe someone survived information about UART.

  4. 1. In case you need to add space for air flow. For this, you can cut the middle strap, stacked housing, leaving only the corners for fixing the height. The flow direction of the fan should be pulling air out of the case. Soon I hope to post a photo of how I altered the case and installed a fan. 2. I don't know the programs for this selective backup and restore system. The only option is to selectively replace existing system files that have changed in the new version.
  5. It is likely that during the experiments, the damage is key, so be careful. You should not connect to the VCC lines Tx and Rx .
  6. A little test of the effectiveness of active cooling and the potential use as a media center with KODI. Install network of rap KODI (15.2). Prescribed in the file .xinitrc to run KODI (straight run only KODI, without DM). Started the system from USB stick on i7Pro (PCB without housing, standard radiator + USB fan with separate power supply). Mode 720. Playback test clips (from the image Armbian) occurs in fullscreen mode. The smoothness of the video is not the best, but I was interested in temperature. Connection via UART console , run "armbian -m". Monitoring shows the average temperature when playing video 49-55 Degrees, a frequency of about 2000. The temperature in the idle drops to 35-38 degrees (at a frequency of 250). Thus it is possible to consider this option - a very early alpha for Libreelec on the basis of the usual Ubuntu, with advantages in a standard package management system and the ability to run as required graphical desktop (XFCE MATE DM etc) with all the advantages of standard office systems. I think if we solve the problem of not properly start the graphical environment for the authorization of entrance and selection of used DM (xdm lightdm lxdm etc), then you can create an easy to use universal system. If you need media center - chose KODI (or other similar systems), you need the desktop version - chose a convenient DM (XFCE MATE KDE, LXQT LXDM etc).
  7. I do not see in network repositories the package "aptik". Are you trying to install a third-party package ?
  8. Alas, I don't have the technical ability to access network repositories for updates. Another problem is that not all changes can be carried out through regular updates. I was thinking about this question, but have not yet found a simple (for ordinary users) solution.
  9. 1. I see the dtb files. If possible - bring them under the core in the way. 2. Usually on the PCB Board ground (GND) is denoted by a square contact pad. The next two from the ground contact is TX and RX (or Vice versa RX and TX). Last contact (earth GND) is power VCC (NOT to connect). If you measure by the tester extreme contacts - you can see what the "plus" (VCC). To connect in Linux , you can use the utility "minicom". The command for the Linux "minicom -c on-b 115200 -D /dev/ttyUSB0" If I'm not mistaken, the photo is the symbol of the contact group "1". Look on the Board , perhaps somewhere on the back or in other places in the PCB Board there is a description GND TX RX
  10. It is desirable to check up, how will the system behave with default file gxm_q201_2g. Hardware acceleration not yet, need to find the source and collect.
  11. 1. Activation multi-boot with USB not possible (this is a feature of the old bootloaders on models 802\812) 2. Judging by the fact that you get a black screen when connected to external storage system Armbian (SD card or USB flash drive), multiboot is already activated. 3. Now we need to try to find a working dtb. To do this, take turns to copy to the root of the FAT partition dtb files from the directory and rename the DTB to the "dtb.img". But I have received information from other users that they S812 with firmware 316 (kitkat 4.4), the system does not start. But if you replace the firmware on lolipo 5.1, the system is started. I hope if You have a UART, you can see at what stage the stop start system with the old boot loader (4.4). You can show the log of starting the system with the USB stick ?
  12. It's already been discussed many times. Look in next topics or on freaktab, there are detailed instructions with pictures.
  13. You can try the standard version activation multi-download. 1. Download and burn image on SD card (mes. #6) 2. add dtb 3. to activate the multi-boot and try to start the system.
  14. 1. What version LE is installed ? 2. Try to connect to the TV box via SSH and run the command "fw_printenv". Copy the result here. 3. When connect the UART console stop run u-boot and run these two commands "printemv" and "help". Copy the result here.
  15. What firmware now M8 ? Do You have UART console ? What are the steps to activate the multi-boot You have done and what the results of the steps were ?
  16. 1. The file name must be "dtb.img" . Judging by the fact that TV box start with is not the correct file, then dtb data in the internal memory are suitable for this kernel and manually copy the file is not required. 2. This version is NOT designed for easy installation into the internal memory. Required additional manual operations for generating the correct kernel image to the internal memory.
  17. IMHO to create custom images you can use a simple circuit. Create a thread on the forum describing what you need to output and what kind of equipment, the approximate price You are willing to pay. If there are willing (have the time) to perform this work, the coordinate parameters (cost, time, etc.). Receive confirmation from the administration (which the contractor will be able to perform such work). Transfer funds to the account of the community armbian and get a result.
  18. Try to record the last image (20170205) on the USB flash drive (please note record USB flash). Connect to TV / off the console and turn the power on. Notice the dtb file to copy is NOT necessary. The system itself should try to use the right data in the internal memory. After power on you need to wait for system start up for 5-7 minutes.
  19. The launch is the same as S905. To capture the image. To activate it-boot. Try to start the system without manually copying the dtb file (in the latest images this feature is fixed and should work).
  20. I'll make it easier. Start LE , connect via SSH and run the command "fw_printenv". Copy the result here.
  21. It would be nice to be tested on different devices, users, to have more data for evaluation.
  22. IMHO the Capacity of all processor Amlogic is much more than is possible in the manufactured home TV boxes. The reason is that for good performance you need a good (active) cooling system (for long-term work in maximum performance mode). The vast majority of TV boxes use a more stripped-down and primitive cooling system. I do not think the cooling system, those funny metal plates that are installed in sealed plastic boxes in many TV boxes. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the regular Android interface is very simplified and accordingly, do not trouble yourself a good cooling system. Perhaps for this reason, Amlogic forced to release the dtb and the source code with the restriction that-be to ensure the operability of its products in such a non-threatening environment.
  23. Update images. (20170205) TEST Changes. 1. Added a lot of kernel modules for peripheral devices (DVB DTV Net Touchscreen etc) 2. Added script dd_backup_x to create a compressed copy of the internal memory (by xXx details about the script on the forum armbian in the subject s905\s905x) 3. Added a script to evaluate the performance of the CPU aml_cpu.sh in the /root directory 4. In the image MATE added a number of packages (screensaver, screenshot, multimedia, utility etc)
  24. The results of running Your command sequence on s905x and s912 with a new look. https://yadi.sk/d/K4UJK0UD3CzNbL By the way, to simplify testing, I created a simple script aml_cpu.sh (of Your data), which can be downloaded here. I decided at the time to add it to the images that would be any non-trained user is able to run on any TV box that would have the information with different devices (the script is located in /root directory in the new images). aml_cpu.sh https://yadi.sk/d/jn_hH4GB3CzKtU
