  1. Hi, After upgrading linux-image-current-sunxi64 package from 21.08.1 to 22.02.1, bringing kernel version 5.15.25, the CPU temperature raised abnormaly on my olimex teres board. Temperature is above 60°C at startup, whithout any activity or load average. The issue persists with latest 5.16.16 kernel from linux-image-edge-sunxi64 package. I noticed temp at startup around 30°C with 5.4.88-sunxi64 kernel, 40°C with 5.10.60-sunxi64 kernel and above 60°C with 5.15+ kernels. Does anyone have cpu temp issue with 5.15+ kernels ?
  2. I'm on the Olimex Teres running the newish Armbian Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the system intermittently freezing or slowing. Kernel 5.4.43 . I have a video of the issue and an image of the drive. The system isn't online to sync clock and dates may be skewed by some days. My usual routine is to boot the system into multi-user, run asciinema, run tmux, and then edit files with vim inside both. The issue starts after a bit. CPU and I/O usage stay low during the delays in responsiveness. Sorry if I am kinda irritated and frustrated in the video. I've been dealing with a lot of issues. I'm curious what systems the maintainers use, to see if they would be more stable options than the Teres. Here are the files. The first one is the video. https://skyportal.xyz/AACuq_qYKzIaLJMc3bCopUfi9ZaKjdvTWx21MlKT8UGwIQ/20200711_081350.mp4 size=140627844 3. Hi, I can boot off an SD card, but my Teres boots off internal storage to a black screen and I'm trying to figure out why. It seems even when I set verbose=7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, there is little to no kernel diagnostic output, even on a working SD card. I read on the debian wiki that u-boot-menu works on the Teres, but I tried installing this on an SD card and it prevents the SD card from booting (similarly to my internal storage booting issue). I've actually compared the contents of the unallocated space in front of the filesystem between the working sdcard and the internal storage, and they differ only in the partition table. Additionally /lib/firmware, /lib/modules, /boot/dtb-5.4.28-sunxi64, /boot/boot.cmd and /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.28-sunxi64 all compare byte-for-byte identical. /boot/boot.scr differs in only 8 bytes (0x4-0xC) which could be a timestamp. /boot/armbianEnv.txt differs in only the value of rootdev. The initrd differs between the two in that the contents of blacklist-framebuffer.conf, libdns-export.so.1100, and libisc-export.so.169 differ. blacklist-framebuffer.conf differs only in that the internal storage has bochs-drm added to the blacklisting. I wasn't sure how to extract the uinitrd to see if it had corruption. I tried replacing my differing files with those from the working sdcard but the system still did not boot, although it could have been for a different reason as there is no diagnostic output. Do you know a way to see more diagnostics than verbose=7 provides, or another avenue to pursue? I am likely next to try reinstalling the system and comparing files and bytes between before and after. I don't have an easy mailing address at this time to order the serial cable.
  4. I'm not familiar with the a64 graphics driver and some tty graphics software of mine is failing on Armbian Ubuntu Focal after working fine on the Bionic image. Earlier I was able to mmap() /dev/fb0 to display graphics in a tty. On Focal 20.04, running linux 5.4.43-sunxi64 , mmap() on /dev/fb0 is failing with EPERM (operation not permitted). Is this new error something anybody knows about or could give a link to find a possible driver change that's responsible? It seems there might be a few different video drivers on this system and I haven't looked at them before. /sys/class/graphics/fb0/name contains sun4i-drmdrmfb /sys/class/graphics/fb0/device/modalias contains of:Ndisplay-engineT(null)Callwinner,sun50i-a64-display-engine Thank you.
  5. Hi, I have recently installed the latest Bionic on my Teres laptop. Unfortunately all the desktop elements are invisible: no icons or panels. Here is a photo: https://skyportal.xyz/_AUx7VZt6n2vp_QPu4LG4uLpafQMTK37xTFclUaK7rszfA
  6. Hi there, I have been trying Armbian Buster for the first time. On the first look everything works fine and quick. But I cannot get proper sound from the soundcard. Instead there is only random noise. Interestingly the speaker-test works fine in stereo. $ uname -a Linux teres-a64 5.4.28-sunxi64 #20.02.7 SMP Sat Mar 28 17:25:10 CET 2020 aarch64 GNU/Linux $ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: sun50ia64audio [sun50i-a64-audio], device 0: 1c22c00.dai-sun8i sun8i-0 [1c22c00.dai-sun8i sun8i-0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 $ speaker-test -twav -c2 -Dhw:0 speaker-test 1.1.8 Playback device is hw:0 Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels WAV file(s) Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz) Buffer size range from 128 to 131072 Period size range from 64 to 16384 Using max buffer size 131072 Periods = 4 was set period_size = 16384 was set buffer_size = 131072 0 - Front Left 1 - Front Right Time per period = 0.366860 I can imagine that the mixer channels are just mixed up or the codec are wrong but I am not sure how to debug further. EDIT: The original Olimex Linux Image has working sound. So hardware should be fine. Thanks a lot! Alex
