Actually I didn't use SD card in that try. I used USB (Slow speed. kind of) I did tried with the one with kernel 4.9 and that version give a black screen before the initial boot console screen. Can this device play some java games? or not because no 3d acceleration driver.

It works also with a good quality usb 3.0 adapter. Minecraft.jar and similar slow games with a rough graphics probably do work. Adding wifi_dummy to /etc/modules made that. Then with the ethernet cable update Armbian to Debian testing, install wicd and remove networkmanager package and systemd networking.service. Maybe our S912 tvboxes do differ so much that my method does not work. With balbes150 kernel 3.14 everything works. balbes150 4.9 kernel does not have audio driver and network does not work. I can not see in your dmesg that if the firmware for wifi is found or not. Maybe you do need to install the correct firmware. Firmware can have many files, all of them you should put in /lib/firmware/bcrm.

It was only after deleting the dtb.img file that the installation went through correctly.Wifi works after "sudo modprobe dhd"Unfortunately launching KODI causes artifacts.Does KODI have any chance of running under ubuntu on my device without hardware acceleration? ( OpenElec works very well )

If the other video players do not work, then Kodi does not work either. Chromium browser uses all cpu cores to play youtube videos correctly so a light change is that some other player can too. Armbian desktop mp4 files do not work with the default player.

At first it does not work wifi but when i try dhd driver then it works perfect

To check loaded, with the command "modprobe qca9377" if a WiFi network will work with it, write its startup in /etc/modules. I checked on the model Tronsmart S96 (s912) - with this module the WiFi and BT working. By the way, I didn't even need to manually copy the dtb file, the system could earn with regular dtb from the internal memory. I wonder how on other models, to run these images without manually adding the dtb file.

(Beelink GT1 S912/G912) By the way. I like the new first boot method, which makes the device restart it self. and the new login screen, which make me able to login as a root user

gnthibault Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 By default (not copying the dtb file as dtb.img at the root of the BOOT partition) wifi does not work on H96 pro + (apparently fnlink 8223a-sr). Neither does sound, however bluetooth works well. A weird thing is that cat /proc/cpuinfo allows to see all 8 cores, however gnome-system-monitor for ubuntu mates only shows 2 cores. After multiple edit, nevermind, everything is up and running thanks to the wifi_dummy added to /etc/modules. However I did not checked if both 2.4 and 5GHz channels are working, but I see no reason for this to fail. Thank you balbes150, this is truly awesome

I have enabled AMlogic remote controller in the kernel, but I am not using Sunvell T95Z Plus infrared remote controller, because I have a mini wireless keyboard/touchpad with 2.4Ghz usb adapter and it works ok, except it must be close (less than 50 cm) to the tvbox and have direct view to the usb adapter.

Vim 2 board is not even in sale yet and open source community or Shenzhen Wesion do not have resources and skills. Arm should do the driver. I made an Armbian SDCard and booted up to the BOX and after some testing, I decided to use "nand-sata-install" command. After it was done, I reboot the Box but it doesn't boot. (No Signal on HDMI / Not recognized on PC usb port). The power led blinks between red and blue continuously. What can I do to recover it ? Can someone help me please ? Thank you.

Why on earth did you that. From class 10 microsd card Debian testing Xfce runs fine. When you look at that script, you see sunxi comments often. Armbian does not support S912, so all emmc scripts are dangerous. Balbes150 s905_install.sh script looks much safer and probably works after editing or without. Take a look of the nand-sata-install script if it has overwritten bootloader, if it is then things are more difficult. Contact the manufacturer to get original firmware and instructions to flash it.

I dont know if this happens for others but it's good to know. There is no gpu accelerated graphics for 912 in Linux drivers. Chromium uses all cpu cores for software rendering and that is why it works. Balbes 4.9 kernel does not have audio so it is unusable. Not worth to use or explain why it does not work. It must take a long time with 160GB drive when the armbian expands the image at first boot. Many new boxes do have multiboot features, so toothpick is for some older boxes.

My question is related to vnc, I always get grey window when connecting to the tightvnc server. I use the latest 3.14 Ubuntu Mate (16.04) desktop image, but I am not connecting my box to a display. Can someone give me an example of xstartup file that works ? What bothers me for the moment is that log does not show error, bu still nothing but a grey screen ...
