Yes, ffmpeg needs some patches (borrowed from LibreELEC project) to add support for v4l2request, which is in turn the interface for the kernel to use the hardware decoders on allwinner and rockchip platforms.

Hello everyone, comrades! Please tell me, has anyone had success with opi 4 lts? If so, can you share the success scenario or the system image?

My small success story is using a factory image. Orangepi4-lts_3.0.6_ubuntu_jammy_server_linux5.18.5

Then

apt update && apt install mpv

then i use this command line

mpv --vo=gpu --drm-device=/dev/dri/card0 --hwdec=drm  --cache=yes --loop-playlist --fs --input-ipc-server=/tmp/mpvsocket --audio-device=alsa/plughw:CARD=HDMI,DEV=0 /some_path_to_video

4 k 30 fps \ 4k 60fps \ h264 \ hevc decode by vpu vithout using CPU and do not have any freeze

UPDATE!

Hello everyone, I'm glad to give a fresh update.

After a couple of weeks and more or hard work, I finished the complete overhaul of the repository. It is now handled in a much tidier way.

The result of this is a much easier support for new distributions as soon as they are published!

I have just updated the instructions, since the old repository is no longer active; I suggest you to remove the old repository from you apt sources and install the new repository as described in first page.

Packages for Noble Numbat are already available!

Enjoy!💪

No factory images here; I just tried an Armbian image with Ubuntu Noble and it worked flawlessy with XFCE, just need to disable the XFCE compositor to have full framerate.

Дмитрий, пожалуйста предоставьте дополнительную информацию.

uname -r
dmesg | grep -E 'hdmi|gpu|drm|codec'

What brand of monitor and its resolution are used?

My samsung 2k monitor cannot be detected by some linux kernels, for example.
Although other users noted good performance at 1920x1080 resolution.

I suspect that for other monitors the HDMI output will work.
Just try to change the monitor, change the OS image to understand where the problem is.

Пожалуйста попробуйте работу любого образа Armbian с этой страницы загрузки.

If working on this image will have problems, please create a new theme with a name reflecting the essence of the problem.
