I lost whole day yesterday to try boot with new images from Armbian download page - kernel 6.1 / kernel 6.8 bookworm/trixi and none boots...

If I take Ubuntu or Debian image I have no problem to boot from.

Do you have the same?

I tried a few images and I wasn't able to use only the 6.8.10/11 because of video issues. All the others with kernel 6.1 worked fine. Maybe you're using the non-plus version of the images?

@DroZDI did you unpack the .xz file? xz -d?

Can you dd/(or other image tool) and mount the SD card on your computer and see a proper boot partition?

doesn't look like it's Armbian.

Because it isn't. That is some other people's work.

OP most likely used wrong image.

how exactly are you writing to the SD card? I just did it today with Gnome Image Writer and it worked without any issue. The image I used was https://mirror-us-stl1.armbian.airframes.io/dl/orangepi5-plus/archive/Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_noble_vendor_6.1.43_gnome-oibaf_desktop.img.xz

There is no need to unpack. Right click -> open with Image Writer -> select destination (SD card) -> wait until the process finishes -> boot with SD card -> setup Armbian -> start using.

For me all Armbian images stop after that:

Means nothing without stating

- the exact image you are trying to use (full file name  and download source)

- the exact method of writing the image to the microsd card

I gave up with that  now... I installed Ubuntu and it works :)

Maybe I would come back to Armbian later...

So OP confirms there is no issue since they refuse to provide necessary information.
