spyda_mayn Posted Wednesday at 09:36 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:36 PM (edited) Armbianmonitor: https://paste.armbian.com/milumavona Hello, this is my first time setting up orange pi + Armbian Linux. I'm a linux newbie. I've been trying to install various version of the Debian 12 Desktop images working. I can always get into it via SSH but never get a display out via HDMI except fro Ubuntu 24.04 Noble Gnome Images Success Armbian_25.2.1_Orangepi5-plus_noble_vendor_6.1.99_gnome_desktop Images Failed Armbian_25.2.1_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_current_6.12.13_cinnamon-backported-mesa_desktop Armbian_25.2.1_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_current_6.12.13_xfce_desktop After SSH and setting up roo/user accounts I always get to the message Now starting desktop environment... But it doesn't do anything afterwards. I've done initial troubleshooting verifying that HDMI cables work using different monitors Trying different power supplies trying different microSDs Is there something else I can check on the Debian bookworm variants to see what the issue is? Thanks for taking a look. Edited Wednesday at 09:37 PM by spyda_mayn 0 Quote

Werner Posted Thursday at 06:02 AM Posted Thursday at 06:02 AM 8 hours ago, spyda_mayn said: current_6.12.13 This is more or less expected for current since the HDMI implementation in this LTS version is very basic/incomplete. Features were and still are in development and did not make it into this version. If you need desktop use edge or vendor. 1 Quote

Werner Posted Thursday at 05:37 PM Posted Thursday at 05:37 PM If there are no pre-built version available, use the build framework to create your own: https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ 1 Quote
spyda_mayn Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM @Werner something I noticed with testing Armbian_25.2.1_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_current_6.12.13_xfce_desktop The HDMI display would output on a 4k display but did NOT display any output on other various resolutions 27" 1440 , 34" 1440p ultrawide, or 2560x1600 portable monitor 0 Quote
