Fix for: USB-C Display Port on Khadas Edge2 (Rockchip RK3588S2)

Hello, 

 

I'm the owner of a Khadas Edge2, and I'm trying to run it with a USB-C DisplayPort (plus touch, plus Power) screen. That combination has historically failed for me, especially with newer kernel versions. There's an old thread in the Khadas user forum https://forum.khadas.com/t/usb-c-dp-stopped-working-after-apt-update/21788 describing the problem, but it went stale and unfixed.

 

I'm not a kernel developer, so I can't fix something like that myself. However, I recently ran an investigation with an agent that, although lengthy, appears to have produced a good fix. It's all in here, the documentation and the result: https://codeberg.org/graphicore/Edge2-USB-C-DP

It's based on Armbian. I'd like to see the issue fixed upstream, but since I'm not a kernel developer and I'm neither qualified nor familiar with the norms in that process, I'd like to find someone to take it from here.

Yes, at least if you look at the thread in their support forum that I posted, they tried to support this but were unable to do so.

Interesting, will try to reproduce it after getting DP-capable type-c cable, will let you know the results with different RK3588S boards.
