Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Using this file or upgrading from an older version results in no sda showing up. Please Help! http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Armbian_5.00_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_4.4.1.zip Please ask for further information as I am still learning a lot. Thanks Igor, great work on the distros. Gary
Igor Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 First try to use different cables to power the board. I just tested - Banana Pi with mechanical SATA powered from Banana. First disk was also not powering up but when I used different cable set it worked.
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Thanks for the prompt reply Igor. I feel a donation coming along! I've tried another SATA cable. They are both old. I will try a proper set bought dedicated for the banana pro that i will grab from my Armbian jessie vanilla NAS setup. (I will not upgrade that server until this has been resolved!) Cable quality does not feel like the problem here but will try it! Thanks Gary
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 3rd cable failed. If i install from 4.5 it works. as soon as i atp-get upgrade to 5.00 it breaks the SATA!?
Igor Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 OK, I was already looking closely but it's working fine for me. Huh. I guess I need to look more. Can you check if SATA is working within U-boot? You have (serial) console / keyboard?
zador.blood.stained Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 @Gary Blake ヅ Can you post here (or somewhere else like pastebin) output of "dmesg" and "lsmod" commands?

Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 OK, I was already looking closely but it's working fine for me. Huh. I guess I need to look more. Can you check if SATA is working within U-boot? You have (serial) console / keyboard? I'm new to uboot. have used linux for a very long time but that i have no knowledge about. I will google it now. Thanks Gary

Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 OK If you need anything mre just ask. I am still confused about uboot. I must be getting old!
Igor Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I was doing some corrections to Banana DTB but haven't touched banana pro. zador.blood.stained Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Hm. Google came up with this: https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/7/31/260 Mentioned "nointremap" option is related to IOMMU (Even though it says about x86-64 arch) CONFIG_IOMMU_SUPPORT was enabled just recently from @wildcat_paris' config. Maybe it is related?
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Can i stop the upgrade to 5.00 and just keepthe upgrades to 4.5? That way i can get my device up and working. Thanks Gary
zador.blood.stained Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I'll build new kernel without IOMMU options for you to test later, and if it doesn't fix your issues, then you should probably stick to using 4.5
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Sounds like a plan. Thanks for your time. Gary
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 How can i do a nand-sata-install on 4.5? all of those need updating before i can use the command as far as i know. Gary
Wolf2000 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 they look http://www.armbian.com/documentation/
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 they look http://www.armbian.com/documentation/ That was the first place i looked my friend.
Gordon Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Same problem here --- sata drive did not show up after upgrade to armbian 5.0 I'm using armbian 5.0 on a banana pro. And using external power source for the sata hard drive. And the hard disk did not show up after upgrade.
Gary Blake ヅ Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 I was worried this might be the case. Quite alarming this update. I hope i dont have to change distros as armbian rocks.
Igor Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 We will get to the bottom of this and an emergency update will follow. Nothing to worry.
