Vin Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) Hello everybody, had to reinstall my pine64 completely since it wasnt reachable over ethernet anymore, dont know why but after a restart on debian stretch it seemed that ethernet wasnt initialized anymore (lights were not even starting anymore) so i formated the sd card and went to the download directoy and i was surprised to only see debian jessie images left, is there a reason for that? anyway, so i downloaded the current stable realease but now i m having trouble with the repositories, it seems that i cannot update properly since i get an error message for following index W: Failed to fetch http://security.debian.org/dists/jessie/updates/InRelease Unable to find expected entry 'main/binary-arm64/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) already reinstalled the jessie image a couple of times, no luck. This problem is upstream. With Debian and could be related to the fact that Debian Jessie is officially EOL. It can be also just a random network problem. Pine64, until we don't have a stable modern kernel, you can only choose between (kernel 3.10.y) Jessie and Xenial. The best is to go for Xenial since it has more recent package base then Debian Jessie. https://dl.armbian.com/pine64/ If you were using some development builds ... and all modern kernels for A64/H5 are in such state, regressions are possible. There is nothing we can do with the resources we have.

Once a Debian LTS release is EOL security maintainance moves away from security to LTS team and as such security.debian.org becomes obsolete with arm64 architecture: https://wiki.debian.org/LTS Removing the line from sources.list will stop the warning to appear. This affects all Jessie arm64 installations since a few weeks so most probably we can call this a FAQ soon... To be clear: Debian LTS support is only available for i386/amd64/armel/armhf architectures so arm64 is unsupported and as such we should even think about to remove all Jessie/arm64 images from download pages (or add at least a warning).
sveni_lee Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Hi, I'm running ARMBIAN 5.59 testing Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i on my orangepizero 512. Now I have proplem to install kernal headers so I would like to upgrade my kernel. But i did not find how to do this. Also if I do apt upgrade it did not work... always got 404 Errors. svenilee
