Armbian HDMI Config - Cubietruck with Onyx Boox Max 2 HDMI ebook reader

Hello,

 

I want to use Armbian on a Cubietruck with an Onyx Boox Max 2 ebook reader (HDMI port) as display. I tested Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y and Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y.
But with both systems I get a black screen. I use the serial console to access the cubietruck.

 

When I plug in the HDMI cable I get following info on Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y:

I get the message directly on the serial console.

I also own a Raspberry Pi 3 and tested Raspbian Stretch with Desktop (updated 2018-11-13 version). In the beginning I also got a blank screen.
But I found some very good info on the internet (especially https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295328 ), so I got it to work.

 

On my Raspberry Pi 3 I use the following in /boot/config.txt :


 

hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_cvt=2200 1650 33 0
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
max_framebuffer_width=2200
max_framebuffer_height=1650

 

I tried to set the corresponding information in Armbian on cubietruck. But I did not find the correct config files.
Perhaps it is possible to use the EDID... info above to create a configuration?


I would prefer Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y, but a configuration for Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y is also very welcome.

For the log I booted a fresh image, so no updates. But no change with updated and beta system.

You can try to do research in this direction: https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/#how-to-reconfigure-video-output Try also beta kernels, DEV branch with latest 4.19.y kernel.

 

In any case it will not be a copy/paste operation. It might require kernel hacking. Cubietruck support is not on the Raspberry Pi3 level. If something works there, especially in video section, its usually completely different and it might not work.

thank you for your fast reply. I already tried the suggestions... but did not succeed.

As interim solution I will use the working Raspberry Pi. When I have learned more about armbian kernel hacking I will come back with a specific question.
