We support Armbian software but not random software from the internet. RKdevtool is as far as I know a tool from Radxa, not Armbian, either. CPU boxes are cheap and cheap for a reason. Nobody really supports them. We give some very limited community support here. Best of luck.

The wifi and ethernet both are not working for my transpeed 8k tv device. it has a rk3528 chipset. 1. I tried resetting it from its android factory setting. it did not work. 2. I found its image which i flashed via RKdevtool. Still the both wifi and lan did not work. 3. i tried external usb wifi dongle but it did not detect it. 4. I tried to install debian OS i found somewhere on internet designed for rk3528 on it as alternative but rkdevtool did not identified the image Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance,

HW (features are determined by kernel used in the image) related issues are shared among all variants, desktop, cli, minimal, Debian or Ubuntu.

Sige5 is community supported and those boards receive automatic generated images only - once per week. Since GitHub introduced additional limitations few months ago, we can't (auto)produce desktop images anymore - only one Debian stable minimal per CSC build target. However, this might change in the future.

Hello, I have an Android M98-Y6 HDMI stick that reportedly has an Allwiner H313 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. When I opened the case, I identified the emcp memory module KMQNW000SM-B316. I don't have access to console mode. I can only access adb commands as root.The RAM type DDR3 seems LPDDR3 ( version ??) I've tried different Armbian images without success. Unfortunately, Secure Boot is enabled. I read this post and test Armbian-20240716-unofficial_24.5.0-trunk_Transpeed-8k618-t_bookworm_edge_6.7.12_xfce_desktop_Secure_Boot.img.tar.xz from Nick, without success I have an Android image named M96-Y6.img. Attached is the "dts" file devicetree.dts device_tree_dump.txt

Never had an issue like that. However we also have mirrors in Asia or RU/UA where politics might interfere with bandwidth. So perhaps you hit one of those? Or you simply hit a mirror which was under heavy load at this time.

@Fredrik thank you for the reply. I wonder what's Gnome doing to initialize the audio that's different from a regular (non-graphical) boot. FWIW I installed also Pipewire/Wireplumber and tried to test the audio through the PW ALSA emulation, but that didn't work either. Just out of curiosity, does speaker-test work from the CLI once booted into Gnome or is it just the sound test in Gnome settings that's working ?

I troubleshooted my problem! So for some reason (I'm not sure if this is for all x88 pro 10's), the SD card needed to be under pressure on it to read Multitool. So, throughout the entire Multitool process, I needed to hold down the SD card with my thumb. I did hurt a bit, but it flashed to the EMMC

@samircobra these TV BOXes with Rockship are very robust and well documented here in Armbian. Once, I even caused a short circuit (a true hard-reset) in its memory system, and the board reverted to its original ROM. Regarding your question, follow the instructions for the classic Rockchip devices on the main Armbian page. The steps described there are detailed and clear. Good Luck

There was a devicetree related pull request sent for the audio issue on another board a month ago. It hasn't gotten any action since it was made. There apparently haven't been any devicetree-related patches in the entire Armbian build system - at least for this other board (Orange PI 5 Plus). You can install firefox. Not sure why you're not seeing it. If you're using Ubuntu Noble, firefox has issues. I think it normally installs from an Armbian repository, and last I installed it in Armbian Noble (just a couple days ago), it didn't work at all, so Armbian's firefox is, at present, non-functional. However you can install Ubuntu's, but their version is only available as a snap rather than a debian package. In my experience snap applications are slower to start up, plus they invade your home directories with a snap folder. Snap applications are also not necessarily open-source behind Cannonical's wall. Armbian desktop images also come with a Microsoft program: Visual Studio Code. And a Microsoft repository is added to the apt repositories specifically to handle updates for that program. You can, of course, uninstall it. The package name is just called code. Then you can go it: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and delete the microsoft file (using sudo), if it's still there. That will remove its repository. Then apt update. If there's no microsoft file there, then it's already been done. Not sure why it's taking 30 minutes to run apt update??? There is an Armbian repository that's usually slow, but it's I've never experienced it being that slow. If you really want an OS created by those who are more trustworthy, I would recommend Debian over Ubuntu. In Debian, firefox works without issue. Although the Armbian firefox hijacks your home page to keep returning to Armbian's site, despite your settings. There's a settings file somewhere that they modified to do that, you can delete their modification to stop that. I'm not sure which file it is though. I looked it up once, but never kept the info. But Ubuntu does seem to run better, and it has many more software options in its repositories, but those extras tend to be closed-source. But in Debian, there are a couple of software GUIs you can used to install snaps and flatpacks if you want to. Apparently snaps are maintained by Cannonical (Ubuntu) and tend to be closed, whereas flatpacks are openly-maintained and are apparently more efficient - though I don't have much experience with either. I prefer straight debian (.deb) packages when available.

I retried that image now but with a different installation method, booting into OOWOW (?) via the Function+Reset button, control via serial debug console. I then wget the image from my local server and dd out to /dev/mmcblock0. Subsequent boot was indeed successful.

Thanks for the information, everyone. I transferred the OS to the EMMC as recommended by CryBaby, and all is running well. I am slowly finding my way round Armbian - not too difficult, due to the similarities between Armbian and Linux Mint. So far, the only thing I really dislike is the Chromium Web-Browser. Not Chromium per se, but its infested with Google, and if there is one thing that I have always considered detrimental to any computer is Google (and Microsoft). I've been looking for another browser to install, but no luck so far - any recommendations, anyone? - as a Linux user, I would like Firefox, but so far, haven't found it. The software cache seems very slow to update - Its been about 30 minutes so far, and has not even reached 50% - I'm comparing again to Linux Mint, which usually updates the cache in 2 or 3 minutes (I have a fibre-optic internet connection, with 948 Mbit/s upload/480 Mbit/s Download, and its connected by cable, not wireless, so not slow). It looks as though I will have to stop using '-' as a connector between parts of my text - I just read somewhere that it has been hi-jacked by the AI wallies to indicate that a particular text is generated by AI. I may make mistakes and be slow, but I'm definitely not Artificial Idiocy (I know - you're Natural Idiocy.....😉 Seriously - thanks for all the help you provided - I've got from a pricey little brick to a useable computer with your inputs - thanks again, Keith

Thank you, @c0rnelius. I might do that. But I believe that in fact, the images are faulty (and hence should be replaced). Can you confirm to boot successfully from any of the ones I marked as broken?

You should try erasing the eMMC or re-flashing U-Boot to it. I don't see why that would be necessary, as it wasn't for me. But I did read somewhere on their wiki at one point that in some use cases erasing the eMMC is a work around when getting boot fails.

@samircobra Did you try multitool? You can find it in the first post; also read carefully the first post, it contains very useful informations, for example the hint about the failing eMMC on these rk3318 boards. Probably your box has a failing eMMC. Also another important thing: we don't talk about "firmwares" here, we talk about Armbian, so if you have questions not related to Armbian, this is the wrong place.

Audio out of HDMI works for me out of the box. Kind of. I flashed a kernel 6.15 (that I had lying around) Cinnamon image, because all the recent Gnome images I have fail and just boot to initramfs. I then installed Gnome and enabled Wayland. I then used armbian-config to upgrade the kernel to 6.16 something. Sound test in Gnome settings work. I think this should just work with my kernel 6.15 too iirc. But also I seem to remember having problems when not using Gnome.

I tried several methods, but when I attempt to flash the firmware, an error message appears stating "Update failed %2". I kindly request assistance from experts to find the appropriate firmware for this device.
