  1. Any word on the availability of this board ?

    BPi R16

Hardware now, software never. That seems to be the motto of these small SBC makers. Which means community either steps up and cleans their mess (ie does software like armbian) or boycotts them by not buying their products.
  3. SSE2 is a x86 specific set of instructions, so likely those packages are compiled for x86 only and thus unusable on every ARM board ever made (that includes PC2)
  4. Maybe revert changes and downclock the core, so it works on all boards and don't eat as much power ?
  5. wifi dongle and usb keyboard. Ill reflash the image, just to be on the safe side. Might be an issue with my board too..

  7. Temparature sensors, especially ones in SoCs (if you can call them that) are never accurate under ambient temps (i'm seeing 18C on my H5 when room temps are above 25C, so not possible). Only when you heat them up (to like 60C+) they become accurate enough to be taken seriously. So i wouldn't worry about it much, as long as it's good enough to prevent the chip from frying.
  8. I'm getting reboots when i shutdown. Should i change something or is straight up upgrade from repo enough ?
  9. Are evos still good at random performance ? can anyone test newly purchased cards ?
  10. It would be great, if usb otg would be enabled as host. And possibly RTL8188ETV drivers included in the kernel. Sux to have board without wifi (even though it's pretty crappy when it works)
  11. I see that analog audio is working in the latest build. Sadly, at least for me, volume is very low (as there was no amp at all) on headphones. USB amp (fiio e10k in my case) works perfectly though.
  12. Tried the new build with fbturbo. Can't really say i see a noticable difference, if anything could be a placebo. Is there a way to quantify such performance ? On a less related note; does allwinner h5 (or any other aw chipsets) support independed core clocking or is it a single frequency for all cores ? Maybe if each core was individually clocked, this could help reducing heat.
  13. slow sd card (but evos arent actually that slow) shouldn't affect scrolling and scrolling take a lot of load. so in that instance, cpu clock should boost to 1.3Ghz. in any case, setting to performance governor makes everything smoother, so you cant really blame anything other than cpu frequency scaling.
  14. One thing i must note, that being a very weak SoC still, this thing is already quite usefull as a desktop "replacement". Firefox seems smooth (especially given how theres no accelaration whatsoever). Also it boots very very quickly (almost as fast as a desktop with ssd). Could be be attributed to fast samsung evo card i'm using, but legacy PC images needs much more time to boot with the same card.
  15. Further looking at the "issue", it seems that schedutil must be a bit funky (at least for my use case). Or maybe low refresh rate of the armbianmonitor doesn't catch all frequency spikes from load. In any case, setting to performance governor leaves the cpu at 1.3Ghz (as it should) but obviously at the expense of efficiency and heat. Maybe a faster responding governer with temparature awarness could be handy in this case.
  16. So here are my results. I was mostly doing web browsing via firefox. PC2 is enclosed in offical case with top removed and small chipset heatsink installed. CPU governer is schedutil. It's really odd, because sometimes when scrolling, there is lots of load on the cpu, yet governet does not respond well. To my understanding, THS/governer should allow boosting to 1.3Ghz a lot more often given how i was always staying below 75C Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 20:17:00: 1296MHz 1.50 25% 17. I will do a test later today to better illustrate this...
  18. Can someone explain me how cooling table (or whatever kernel uses) works when determining frequencies ? Because lookig at the frequecies, load and temps, i can't see how frequencies are determined. FOr example... CPU temps are below 50C, there is ton of load on the cpu, yet cpu somehow throttles down to below 1Ghz for some reason, even though there is plenty of thermal headrom available. Is this intentional, so that cpu stays in more efficient operation range (less heat for a given workload) or is something else at play ?
  19. Maybe rename this thread to something like "Unofficial H5 support" so noobs won't trash dev thread.
