hey guys! nice to meet you all! my goal is to get TV-OUT working on Zero 2W (posting here instead of Zero 2W topic since this one is more live ). I've seen in this discussion that @VioletGiraffe have the same goal as well. I'm trying to modify those 6.1 (H2 H3 H5) patches for 6.6 || 6.7. If someone is working on that as well, let's collaborate (actually I'm open for an extra donation if someone does that btw) and please share if there is some progress with that. i perfectly understand, I also hate when an available piece of hardware cannot be used, but really lost a lot of time in wifi drivers and, especially realtek drivers, need constant care because they are overbloated software written by simians. When complied, any realtek driver is few megabytes large, while the average wifi driver is well below the 100kbytes. I have got the LEMFO RBOX HK1RBOX with rk3528 (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006654505780.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.32.7cbf5c5fIj4Quv&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu) I have tried the following image recommended in one thread https://github.com/armbian/community/releases/download/24.5.0-trunk.367/Armbian_community_24.5.0-trunk.367_Hinlink-ht2_bookworm_legacy_5.10.160_minimal.img.xz I copied the rockchip folder to the boot folder and as well the a armbianEnv.txt adding dtfile=rockchip/rk3528-hlink-ht2.dtb. The original armbianEnv.txt was modified the same way. that did not work. Did you miss any other steps? Later on I tried I tried Armbian_24.5.0_rockchip_h28k_jammy_5.10.160_server_2024.04.25.img.gz from ophub with rk3528-hlink-ht2.dtb, unfortunately the LAN did not work, even I have tried all other rk3528 dtb's. [LAN error: ....... eth0: stmmac_hw_setup: DMA engine initialisation failed , eth0: stmmac_open Hw setup failed] Is there any img and dtb that works with this TV Box? I would appreciate any hint?

Description Various minor fixes to rockchip rk3318/rk322x based tv boxes: usb ports gain resets in uboot and kernel, so hopefully they gains some more compatibility and/or less hangups rk3318-box now uses the ddrbin from vendor; it was accidentally switched to uboot TPL during last uboot update some patches have been removed because useless or because things could merged into board dtbs Except for a change in dwc2.c driver in rockchip 32 bit (that may have an effect on OTG port on ASUS Tinkerboard, which is usually unused due to being the power connector), no other boards are affected by these changes. It looks like that USB resets,at least on rk3318/rk3328, are good for USB gadgets and makes the audio gadget work in both UAC1 and UAC2 modes. During previous tests, without these patches, audio gadget were totally refusing to work. How Has This Been Tested? I recently purchased a cheap TV box (RK3228A) on AliExpress and I'm trying to boot up MULTITOOL for installing Armbian. However, it's not starting. Steps followed: - Flashed the multitool.img onto an SD card using BalenaEtcher. - Removed the SD card from the Computer and inserted it into the TV BOX slot. - Connected the power cable to the BOX. Result: - No event occurred. - The red light on the BOX lit up. - However, MULTITOOL didn't start. - The monitor shows "HDMI no signal". I tried using another multitool.img, but also without success. There are is no Armbian support for s805 based tv boxes (only s905 based boxes).

Hi again, Quick update for potential other readers, and some questions. I've now also got overlayroot setup to keep the internal flash mounted as readonly for normal operation. So as to not burn through the flash's endurance counters within a year on a device that's writing logs, status information, etc. to flash continuously. And also to protect it against issues when people just pull the plug while it's operational, potentially corrupting flash and making it unusable without physical recovery. Seems to be working great, but had to adjust the initramfs hook and script files (mount -o move instead of mount --move in script, and adding lines to copy_exec /bin/grep, /usr/bin/stat, and /bin/echo to the initramfs. Seems to be working just great including with pikvm. Two questions: My rk3318 android tv box "H96 Max v11" does have the two red/blue leds on the pcb, but no clock display. There are solder points on the pcb though. Would it be possible to use these pins for GPIO access (maybe even add an I2C RTC module), or would that not be possible within the limits of hardware/firmware? Any pointers on where to start looking, if at all possible? In pikvm config, following generic instructions, I was able to easily add the usb ethernet gadget and do routing/masquerading for the attached device. Yet, when I tried to configure usb mass storage gadget, the result was that the keyboard/mouse stopped responding in pikvm. From the pikvm documentation (unfolding the USB limitations section) it looks like there could be an issue with capabilities of the chip in relation to the number of endpoints needed. Yet, that page mentions mass storage would require 2 endpoints for each msd, and usb ethernet would require 3 endpoints per emulated device. So it's strange that ethernet does work but msd does not. Enabling only one at a time, of course. Is there any data on the number of endpoints available on the rk3318 chip? Or maybe someone knows how to make msd working? Or.. maybe it was intentionally disabled in srepac's kvmd-armbian because it's not working either way? The usb ethernet gadget was disabled in the config as well but works like a charm, so not sure why msd didn't work as expected. Or maybe msd is only supported for the usb3 port and not on the usb2 port that I'm now using for otg connection to the remote? Sorry, too many question marks here... Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Armbian doesn't support TV boxes. Of the three major cpu families alwinner has the least support (practically no activity on alwinner). You can look at other threads in this forum discussing the h616.

What build/download do you have installed? What instructions were you following? No TV box instructions say to use armbian-install.

Hello, I have android tv box with S912. On boot logo was GOOGLE TV and after android app. I put armbian on usb. I boot from usb with armbian by pressing reset button. I backup eMMC with ddbr and save this backup android img file on my computer. I put armbian on my android tv box. No logo, only messages. I don't know how armbian boot usualy, but I think it is same than usb. I think it works well (dual wifi ok, ethernet 100/1000 do not work, bluetooth I don't know). Before add anything, now I want backup eMMC again and save this backup armbian img file on my computer. I need boot from usb with armbian to do ddbr. But it is not possible to do that. Pressing reset button do nothing ! Tuto I read said modify this file /boot/uEnv.txt , maybe I do something bad. Can you help me please ? Sorry for my poor english. Have a good day.

I have install armbian version 10 on this box. Did watch video for some time, no issues except remote who do not only mine box but satelite receiver also, and this do then crash. I have a new remote who can be adjusted on mucho boxes and dvd, tv enc. but did not manage to let it work on this RT box (mxq pro). Oke I did watch video and encode some in H265, but get not such small files als with H264 in handbrake, I do use hardware encoding with videocard, I need stil to install new computer board with a intel I7 but has not yet the time so I can try the intel hardware encoder who seems to be better... The video has much artifacts, special color screens and darknes, clouds. The videobox I have for years now the Elvira Xtreamer has not this artifacts on that same encoded H264 video while armbian has, The RT29** box do have a lot artfacts in dark scenes, sound do loud bang in the amplifier when boot, need to watch out with this, but that is not because of armbian but hardware of these cheap boxes.. Short, the H265 decoder on chip does a bad job, or the version of armbian has issues, and then I think special with the videoplayer, I can also just have 1280 x 720 max in armbian setup, or there is a software active who recode video on the fly for adjust screen dimensions?. I do not now. someone has experience with this?. regards

Hello, wanted to post up a success note and thank you to Jock and everyone else who has contributed to this work. I bought myself a stack of four tv boxes to play with each with different processors. Started with the H96 Max V11 RK3318 4GB/64GB. I read up on this thread and this person's guide and opted to build myself a trunk image from mainline to see how its doing, using the non-edge 6.6 kernel. So far its been the most painless bringup on a TV box I've done so far (owned a couple of older amlogic ones in the past that were pretty rough to work with), the tooling has come a long way in the past few years. I found a copy of the vendor firmware and used AmlogicKitchen to unpack it and retrieve the nvram file for the broadcom-based wifi to work, its an HS2734C, with the proper nvram file I have 2.4 and 5ghz wifi working. I've attached a copy if its of any use, I see now that there are a few versions floating around the internet already. TODO: Get HDMI audio to work. Don't see an HDMI audio output and haven't had time to investigate. Will report back. I applied your 1.3ghz CPU tweaks in rk3318-config along with both EMMC tweaks (DDR and HS200) and they appear to be holding. I see an HS200 message in dmesg about the EMMC and the CPU is boosting to 1.296ghz. I'm currently burn-in testing it by bootstrapping a gentoo prefix inside the armbian environment, she's been maxed out for an hour now and holding strong, core temps are peaking at 82C maximum load then settle into the low to mid 60s, which is pretty good for this QC reject chip from what I've been reading about how leaky they are One question: When I did the installation, I opted to do a full emmc backup. I am able to see that the resulting (60GB!) image has a GPT and named partitions inside. I attempted to loopback mount them via kpartx and mount, but only a couple out of the 15 partitions will mount. The rest seem to have no recognizable file system. AmlogicKitchen won't work as it doesn't start out as a rockchip packed image like the recovery firmware from the vendor's website. Do you have a script or tool to fully unpack the backups that multitool creates? @SteeMan Yes i did it that way. Inserted the SD with the fix for boot. It booted, then I powered of and removed SD. After that I Inserted the Armbian SD card but then is when the boot loop appears. So there was no way to boot form any SD card anymore. But still works on Android TV when no SD card is present. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. Thank you.

@cuker thank you for the tip. I've just tried, but after installing the aml_autoscript suggested on that link the box with Armbian on Sd inserted starts a boot loop. It boot normally to Android TV with no SD card inserted. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
