  1. Hi. I'm using CubieTruck and Armbian mainline up to dated version. The CT is a headless server, so I don't connect any cable to it. However, one day the ssh server in CT did not work, I tried to connect CT to a monitor using HDMI cable. Even though I connect a cable, I could not see anything, and the monitor said 'No signal'. (Well, if the hdmi cable was connected, and CT is booted with it, the output is ok with hdmi signal.) If I connect with a vga cable, there is no problem. Here's what I want. I want to see the screen when I connect CT with a hdmi cable, even if the cable has not been connected. (I hope you understand what I mean..) I followed this, but there was no difference. https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/#how-to-reconfigure-video-output Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Hi all, I have prepared a c++ app on a VM Ubuntu desktop and need to transfer it and test it on Cubietruck Cubieboard3. Apart from the default code I also link my c++ app to extrenal shared libraries , like poco and boost. Since I'm quite new on embedded systems and boards especially, if I choose to boot the Ubuntu desktop version armbian is offering, do I have to build these external libraries from scratch? Thanks in advance
  3. no new kernel offered since 3.4.112 via apt-get update / upgrade
  4. Thank you for reading this: Mission:upgrade a remote cubietruck without bricking it over ssh from WAN. QuestionIs there some kind of tutorial on how to upgrade from 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS? I didn't find it yet. By the way the desktop version is quite stable. Great job! Question2What I am looking for though is, how do I remove the x-server? I thought I could use the raspberry pi teamviewer version, but that didn't work out due to some protocol problem. Therefor I could use all the RAM for docker/apache/mariadb Thank you! With kind regards Hans
  5. With every upgrade I struggle with a "changed to default" login welcome message and have to do my modifications again. Therefore I would like to explain my changes and hope you can integrate them in the default version...: Your welcome message prints the $BOARD_NAME as ASCII art. Probably you have dozens of boards and can distinguish them in this way. So after login-in you directly see which board it is. I have only one type of "boards" (Cubietruck) and distinguish them by their hostname. So I have to replace "$BOARD_NAME" with "$(hostname -s)" in /etc/update-motd.d/10-header to identify my boards. What do you think about a change in that direction?
  6. Hi there, Armbian with 3.4.x Kernel has been running fine on my CubieTruck until upgrading to 5.25. Armbian is installed on NAND (using nand-sata-install), and there is also a SDcard and a harddrive connected for data storage. Some days ago the upgrade to Armbian 5.25 appeared and I did a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. It took a long time and threw some warnings and errors - which I probably should have captured. I recall something regarding "cannot link image" or so... The whole upgrade finished completely at the end. Then the reboot... Now the the CubieTruck is not booting anymore. The error message is: U-Boot 2017.1-armbian ... ... Error: no valid bmp image at 66000000 In: serial Out: vga Err: vga SCSI: Target spinup took 0ms. AHCI ... flags: ... Net... Hit any key to autoboot: 0 ** File not found: /boot/boot.bmp ** ** Unrecognized filesystem type ** There is no valid bmp file at the given address switch to partition #0, OK mmc0 is current device Scanning mmc 0:1 ... scanning bus for devices ... Then it starts searching for a boot image via TFTP. What can I do? Do I need to reinstall? Is it possible to just change some files, links, etc. to get it booting again?
  7. I got following error after boot mainline: brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_reg_notifier: not a ISO3166 code (0x30 0x30) brcmfmac: brcmf_p2p_create_p2pdev_timeout occured brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_add_iface: add iface p2p-dev-wlan0 type 10 failed: err=-5 How to fix it?
  8. Hi, tried to set custom MAC in script.bin (dynamic section) and in armbianEnv.txt (ethaddr=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX) but without success. I'm on armbian 5.25 cubietruck legacy xenial. Any help?
  9. I use Mainline 4.9.7 Ubuntu Xenial and wan`t to disable wlan and bluetooth, cause i don`t need. Where can i do this?
  10. Hi, i try to install Mainline 4.9.7 Ubuntu Xenial on cubietruck. After first boot, it ends directly in prompt cubietruck login: First start takes about 40 seconds, no ssh keys, no reboot. I think something go wrong? I try this witch several SD Cards. All the same...
  11. I'm currently running ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.9.7-sunxi on my CT. On my last apt-get upgrade I noticed this line reoccurring in log: > dpkg: warning: unable to delete old directory '/usr/src/linux-headers-4.8.4-sunxi': Directory not empty Accordingly there are serveral older versions of 'linux-headers-4.8.x-sunxi' in /usr/src. Should/Can these be deleted mannually and, if so, why can't the upgrade procedure do this in the first place? On searching this forum, I found several log clips posted containing the same warning messages, however, without any response as to how these could be avoided. Secondly, I ran across these lines upon entering the upgrade command: >root@CT:~# apt-get upgrade ... >The following packages have been kept back: > linux-jessie-root-next-cubietruck >The following packages will be upgraded: > linux-dtb-next-sunxi linux-firmware-image-next-sunxi > linux-headers-next-sunxi linux-image-next-sunxi linux-libc-dev >5 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. >Need to get 0 B/27,1 MB of archives. >After this operation, 4.890 kB disk space will be freed. Why would 'linux-jessie-root-next-cubietruck' not be installed? Am I missing anything here? Many thanx in advance for any information on these two issues.
  12. Hi, I use a Cubietruck 3 and the last Debian "Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_default_3.4.113". 1° When i'm sart for the first time, It's impossible to reboot or halt the cubietruck. The led Green and blue flashes always. I must I have to remove the power connector for a reboot 2° Idem whem i have make an update and a upgrade 3° When creating the account at setup, I want to use "ac-news". The created account is actually "acnews" without the "-". Before posting, I tried several times the installation by writing a new image on the SD. I always have the same worries Thanks François A track: if I make a first installation with an Armbian_5.20_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 then "Update" and "upgrade". I find myself in the last version and the command halt and reboot works correctly
  13. Hi all, I need a help. I installed the armbian Debian Jessie 4.9.5 in my cubietruck. It is connected via HDMI. How do I set the output of sound to be HDMI? Thanks and best regards
  14. Hello, I'm running a freshly installed armbian with mainline kernel 4.9.5 on my cubietruck. Between u-boot messages and login prompt I don't get any output while booting. I've tried several values for the "console" parameter in the armbianEnv.txt and recompiled the /boot/boot.scr file without success. I've tested both VGA and HDMI (with an HDMI to VGA adapter) outputs without success too. What should I do to get things to work please ? Thanks for your time and your great work on armbian.
  15. Hi, I run a Linux Armbian_5.24_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.8.15 on a Cubietruck with the kernel on version 4.8.15-sunxi. When i want to enable the wifi module, this don't work. I have see a response on https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/252-cubietrack-wifi-bug-hostapd-bcmdhd/ so i do "modprobe brcmfmac" which return any message. But after that, i can't use the wifi. When i do an ifconfig, i see only eth0, bond0 an lo butno wlan0. Can you help me to use the wifi on my cubietruck ? PS : Sorry for that bad english, i'm a french user which don't speak english very well.

  17. I read few in the net about the ahci-driver of the A20-Board. I have a Cubietruck and I want to use a hdd with more than 2TB. Is it - theoretical or in principal possible? My HDD is found but only 2TB of it.

  19. Hi I want to use SPI0 with cubietruck. SPI2 works. However I failed with SPI0. What needs to be done (in script.fex, kernel, etc) to get it work?
  20. Hello! I'm trying to get SPI working with Armbian on Cubietruck. Armbian 5.20 Debian Jessie I edited fex, enabled spi as here https://linux-sunxi.org/SPIdev#Configuring_your_FEXbut no spidev device appeared. I have no device tree file in /boot/. Here https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner-A20/is mentioned SPI ready and tested with ILI9341 based 2.4″ TFT LCD displayAs I understand the SPI driver is already in Armbian kernel but to enable spidev I need to do something else? Can anyone explain how to enable SPI on Cubietruck?
  21. Hi: I am confused. The current armbian for cubietruck is still:Armbian_5.20_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop-2.7z but on the download page it states that version 5.23 is the latest version. What should I do to get the latest version? (as of today Nov. 13,2016
  22. Hey, after making sure that all packages are current (armbianmobitor upload available at http://sprunge.us/Migh)I still have the problem currently that my three cubietruicks freeze after working 1-3 days. Mostly they are still ping-able, but no "heartbeat led blinking" happens anymore and SSH connect also not possible. The logs simply say nothing. Is there anything knows with uboot 5.23 in case ob unstability? The last uboot I remember that was quite stable was 5.20 ... Can I simply downgrade to that using sudo apt-get install linux-u-boot-cubietruck-next=5.20 or such? Thanks for an advice... Ingo Fischer
  23. Hey there, after quite a while laying around in a box my Cubietruck finally came to life again. I downloaded the latest Xenial Vanilla Server from http://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/and set it all up. So far I'm quite happy having Wifi running. Though there are a few questions left. - I chose vanilla as i'm going to use the cubietruck headless and don't need video accel. It will be part of a 3d printer. Do I have any chance to get NAND support running? I guess not so I wonder if it's a good idea to keep running from a micro sd card or will I run into problems? I don't need really big I/O Action so performance wise I should be okay. - I see some brcmfmac error messages when booting. Some relate to brcmf_p2p_create_p2pdev which weems to have problems to add an interface p2p-dev-wlan0. Also I see "Can't enable IR protocol cec". I don't need IR anyways but as these errors keep reappearing i thought it might be a good idea to get rid of them. Any chance to deactivate IR completely? Thanks for helping!
  24. Hi all, any advice to enable i2s audio in mainline kernel? I'm on 5.23 cubietruck mainline v4.8.6. Cant find any reference to write DTS...any help would be appreciated. Thank you
  25. Hey, I have one system completely new installed with Armbian Xenial and one system installed with Armbian Trusty (some time ago) and then done Dist-Upgrade.
