  1. I have an Orange Pi One, with Armbian installed. *sometimes* when I log in it displays: "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi" Then some system statistics and a line with the CPU temperature, for example: "CPU temp: 58ºC" I can also get the current temperature with armbianmonitor -m or reading a file called "temp" in a directory under /etc/system (I don't remember the full path now). If I log in again, I see again the temperature in the welcome message, running armbianmonitor or reading the aforementioned file. Until I shutdown and boot again. Then, all 3 methods of getting the temperature work (like I have just told), or all 3 methods don't (no temperature shown at log in, no temperature column in armbianmonitor, and temp file does not exist). It's like the thermal sensor being detected randomly on some boots, but not on other. I plan to have this board on and unnatedned for long periods of time, so I would like to have the temperature/speed control working, to prevent overheating, but I don't know what's the problem here. The only changes I did from fresh install were international configuration and modify DTB to change micro-USB port mode from OTG to HOST. But with the new DTB, thermal sensor works *sometimes* and with the old DTB (which I backed-up), thermal sensor works *sometimes* too. I also run apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, but the problem remains. I haven't disabled any item for the welcome screen in armbian-config.
  2. With the Orange Pi One and the mainline kernel, I can't get it to work optimally when plugged into a gigabit switch. The eth interface on the Pi One is 100Mb/s and it works perfectly when attached to a switch that is 100Mb/s. When attached to a 1000Mb/s switch: [112776.347520] dwmac-sun8i 1c30000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control off When attached to a 100Mb/s switch: [112882.431555] dwmac-sun8i 1c30000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control rx/tx
  3. Hello! I recently bought a generic Waveshare 800x480 HDMI (B) USB Touchscreen (rev 3.0), and I'm having problems to make it work properly on Armbian. After a long research, I ended up realizing it's a common problem, and yet I haven't been able to find a solution. It seems there was a patch somewhere, but that link is not available anymore. I'm using the Armbian Desktop 5.31 , running on an Orange Pi One. I've already set it up using h3disp -m 800x480 -d, and tried everything but it won't work. Vertical resolution seems to be right, but horizontal only fits around 3/4 of screen and it's noisy (the same problem everyone seems to have). I have tried this with my PC and works totally right, so it's not screen's fault. Also, xrandr gives the right dimensions. Despite I'm using TTY, originally it was a Desktop image, and I didn't delete any driver cat /dev/random > /dev/fb0 Noise can be seen better running xterm FEX configs: [disp_init] disp_init_enable = 1 disp_mode = 0 screen0_output_type = 3 screen0_output_mode = 31 screen1_output_type = 3 screen1_output_mode = 31 fb0_format = 0 fb0_width = 800 fb0_height = 480 fb1_format = 0 fb1_width = 800 fb1_height = 480 screen0_out_color_range = 1 hdcp_enable = 1 hdmi_cts_compatibility = 0 [hdmi_para] hdmi_used = 1 hdmi_power = "vcc-hdmi-18" hdcp_enable = 0 hdmi_cts_compatibility = 1 hdmi_x = 800 hdmi_y = 480 Thanks in advance!
  4. Things downloaded last week, When switching to alternative kernel is executed in Armbian Config, the screen set to 1280 x 1024 has been changed to 1280 x 720 and it was not able to be rewritten, so do not run the Switch to Alternative kernel and keep the 1280 x 1024 screen It is GQRX-SDR, since error-6 (even if blacklist maintenance is done) comes out, As a workaround, I ran Switch to the alternative kernel and avoided error-6. (I give up on screen 1280 x 720) But today, when downloading and installing the same software, the screen shows 1280 x 1024 It was able to be maintained. Sorry to make software, it is truly a hard work. But the object of today (2018/05/06), even if you run Switch to Alternative Kernel, In GQRX-SDR, error-6 appears, (Obviously blacklist.conf has been maintained) From today, sdr-Radio can no longer be used. It seems that it depends on the part of it, the kernel's performance, so please correct it.
  5. Hi Guyzz Just got a OPI1 (H3 512MB), and was trying out the stretch image from here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-one/ https://dl.armbian.com/orangepione/Debian_stretch_next.7z It won't boot It starts up , w. both Orange & Green leds on lan , then i can see it requests a dhcp address , and it gets one (req/offer runs many times), then nothing happens after that. Just - Green light blinks on lan , Orange is unlit. I tried to write (linux dd) it on 2 different SD-cards , a 8GB Intenso , and also a 16GB Sandisk - same behaviour. I grabbed the latest Jessie from the archive , and wrote it to the Intenso 8GB , and it booted fine w. jessie. I don't mind running jessie for now. Just wanted to inform you Thanx for a nice Distro for my OPI's (Zero's & One's) Edit: sha256sum matches , so no DL corruption /Bingo
  6. The freedombox.org is libre software. The software provides a server solution having a list of preinstalled programs. This post is about if the orange pi one can get a libre software version of the freedombox installed on it. The orangepi one is interesting because of its price and performance. What determines if you can install a libre software image on an arm computer? Is it uboot support? Can you install a libre software version of the freedombox on an orange pi one? The freedombox people say, if you can install pure debian on an arm computer, you can install the freedombox too. Can I ask people on this forum about instructions? You may say, why do you not ask on freedombox's email list? Because I think the freedombox people already have a lot to do. About power suppliers, I have seen 2a and 3a mentioned. Can you use a 2a power supply? Thank you.
  7. Libre software refers to the free software foundation's guidelines. Can you make an entirely libre software armbian version work on the orange pi one or other orange pi computers? How good will it work? About the orange pi one which devices will not work if only libre armbian software is installed? Notice this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bootlin/allwinner-vpu-support-in-the-official-linux-kernel/description If orange pi computers can work using libre software armbian, then how do they boot? Do they use uboot? Thanks.
  8. Hi: I was using version 5.30 at orange-pi-pc and orange-pi-one. it is very stable. I saw some irq complain about 5.35, but I don't know if these issues affect H3 boards. I use the boards as headless server with openvpn and some DI/DO. is version 5.35 stable enough for the work? or I should stick with 5.30? thanks a lot for advice.
  9. I'am running a PiOne with 4.14.14 Stretch. I have installed acpid and give the command acpi_listen When pussing the button in Stretch and I didn't see any logging. With the old kernel in 5.38 Jessie on the same PiOne I saw button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 In the output of dtc /boot/dtb/sun8i-h3-orangepi-one.dtb I saw key_pins@0 { pins = "PL3"; function = "gpio_in"; linux, phandle = <0x39>; phandle = <0x39>; }; Means gpio_in defined as an input? Is the button function not yet implemented in 4.14.14? Or is something going wrong?
  10. I have tried to run the h3consumption monitor program (https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/h3consumption) in an up to date Armbian 5.38 stable Debian Stretch 4.14.14 on a PiOne. After the command 'sudo h3consumption -h' and other commands it gives 'This tool requires legacy kernel on H3 devices. Exiting.' Is there any solution for this? Can I change the 3.4.*) to 3.4.*|4.14.*) in the script without any problems? https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/180112d72d31ec3629896f272a1d59ef3d83dc8d/packages/bsp/h3consumption#L123 # check platform and kernel case $(uname -r) in 3.4.*) HARDWARE=$(awk '/Hardware/ {print $3}' </proc/cpuinfo) if [ "X${HARDWARE}" != "Xsun8i" ]; then echo "This tool works only on H3 devices. 18. Hi, First i'm french, so please excuse my english. I'm new to this forum but not new with Orange Pi (One) I'm already running 4 OPi with some basic hardware (like DS18B20, HT21D, relay module, etc...) for different projects like egg incubator, central heating, chicken door, etc... I'm working on a new project for a connected beehive and i'm trying to use loadcells with an HX711 but i can't get any data from my HX711. The code i'm using is this one: https://github.com/ggurov/hx711/blob/master/hx711.c The only thing i can obtain is "No data to consider" I have made a "quick and dirty" script to change #define CLOCK_PIN and #define DATA_PIN from 1 to 30, compile and run the hx711 script for each pin values, but whatever pin i use i can't get any data from my hx711. Did someone already work with hx711 and load cells on an OPi One ? Any help will be appreciated, thank you in advance
  19. I am running the newest version of armbian (5.30) on my Orange PI One, but I run into a strange issue. Whenever I connect an usb dongle (RTL8188EU), it is recognised and works, but two NICs are shown in the network manager. Also ifconfig shows interfaces, where the lsusb shows only one device. Also strange is that one is shown as wlan1, but the other as wlx<macaddress>. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?
  20. Hi, recently moonlight embedded has been added support for VDPAU. git repo I tried to compile it with no success. Unfortunately I dont have enough knowledge to make it work. I used Orange Pi one and armbian 5.30 legacy, getting error no video available and no VDPAU. Does anybody managed to run moonlight on Orange Pi?
  21. I'm trying to use armbian on orange pi one, and it does not start. Previously I used the armbian, however I needed to format the card, now I am putting the same version of armbian 5.25 server and desktop does not work, I tried version 5.35 and tbm does not start, the non-image card does not light any led. However, when using both debian xfce and ubuntu xfce for orange pi one of orangepi.org, the board called displayed video and is working.
  22. Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to set the display resolution to 640x480, to use with an old CRT screen from a IBM PS/1 model 2011 that I want to revive. I know about h3disp, but it only has high resolutions, and that old screen does not want to sync correctly to anything other than VGA. I use an Orange Pi One, with a HDMI to VGA adapter and Armbian 5.35, with legacy kernel 3.4.113 Thank you! -Alexandre
  23. Hello All, I have Orange Pi one board with Armbian 5.20 Desktop and Kodi/mpv/mplayer installed. I want to make OP1 a home media center. Desktop is set to 1080p60 (1920x1080p 60Hz, by h3disp script). My problem: Everything works perfect when playing videos mkv (x264/h264), mpeg2, mpeg etc. for mpv, mplayer, kodi even 1080p materials. But I have a problem playing videos coded with MPEG4 (popular avi xvid). 24. Hi, On upgrading to 5.35 Ubuntu Xenia default 3.4.113 I am unable to get DVI video working, I am presented with a pink screen. Monitor is a 1280x1024 dvi connected via HDMI-DVI converter cable. I am configuring this with h3disp -m 1280x1024 -d. I have rolled back to a 5.30 image and everything works as it should. Possibly a bug? How can I upgrade everything in the distro without breaking the video again? Thanks.
  25. Hi, do you remember my issue with 2 opi1? Well, today I burned again an armbian image with etcher and connect either of the two opi one, to a usb-ttl converter (an arduino). ok, when I put the power on the result is what you see in the attach... the two freeze on DRAM: always. the power is a xiaomi power adapter 5v2a (double checked with a multimeter) and a handmade cable (checked with the multimeter too, 4.8v/4,9v always) so...can I finally tell that my two board are faulty? or there is something I could do? thank you in advance
