It'll be great. Too bad we need to wait that much longer. I'd love to have an rk3588 today.

Rockchip Socs are best ARM socs for Linux desktop use. hope board makers build good devices for us.

it was supposed to be released by now already and looks like its delayed by another year now ... announcements are one thing and real hardware with good software support another  :)

Indeed, due date was Q2 2020, we are in Q4 2020 and all we got is an announcement :)

 

But I think - hope, at least - we're getting close since source code was being added to their repository starting from august and I hope they don't take another year to prepare the software!

 

I was also interested to see little rk3566 brother, but for this no announcement yet...

I would even say: real hardware another, software support (at all) yet another, and finally good software support yet another, still...  So, long, long way to go, IMO.  But I guess we are saying the same thing, essentially.

 

I mean, look how long it took for RK3399 support to get stable.  That's a chip I've been excited about for a long time, and only now just getting there, finally (after literally years).
