I just updated my armbian kernel, I did it with: apt-cache search linux-generic to find the images and sudo apt-get install name of the image to install, the new kernel is in the /boot folder but if I restart  It continues to start with the old one, and if I eliminate the old one it no longer starts.  How do I select the new kernel to boot from it?

i use orangepi+2e

Armbian kernels are not updating that way. Debian (generic) kernels will work bad if at all. If you want to update to latest working (different) kernel use armbian-config -> system -> alternative kernels ... if you want to use generic kernels, you are anyway on your own.

Why would you want to do that anyway?
