Great work!

I could do Step 1 and 2 and I could create a new user and it seems everything is working well. Now after rebooting the system nothing happens. Screen is black, no boot messages. Well, I'm not an expert and therefore I need some help. For me it looks like that a bootloader is missing or something else.

it happends because you don't follow the first boot fix, "step 3"
Now you need to setup all again.

I bought H96 MAX V56 RK3566 4G and installed Linux with RKDevTool_Release_v2.86 as was described. Everything works like a charm Very cheap small Linux PC I use it for the transmission and Samba :) One small thing I need is Volumio. Is it possible to somehow install this https://community.volumio.com/t/volumio3-on-radxa-rock-3a-open-beta-test/61516 image with the same tool? I did not succeed with that.

Hello,

I sucesfullly flashed image "Ubuntu_20.04.5_K4.19.219_RK3566_H96_MAX_8GB_No_Video_OUT_WIFI_OK_PARTITIONING" to my RK3566" device (model = H96 Max v56).

I did an apgrade to Ubuntu 22.04. Only the kernel update won't work:

I did manage to upgrade the kernel to version 6 by copying the boot directory from this post:

Installed on 8GB/64GB, and it runs well, although I know that for Cinnamon it wouldn't be ideal because it lacks hardware acceleration. However, it's suitable for use as a server.

You can try to apply things from Manjaro Arc Linux.

I have already played through this problem with another rockchip box. The problem there was that the manufacturer unexpectedly replaced the 6334 chip with the 2734C.

Is it mainline?

Is the repository package or compiled or something else?

I cannot get video acceleration in youtube. I have tried with gstreamer web browsers, ffmpeg with v4l2-request and firefox, but nothing.

It works very well in video player and web video acceleration it's just the last item to get a decent desktop computer.

I have got video player acceleration with flathub clapper for 1080p with 20% CPU. Enough for me. Based on hantro driver so no 4k. There's also a @jock tutorial for debían to enable ffmpeg v4l2-request that is equivalent.

I have understood that must enable webrtc-pipewire in chromium, isnt It?

if your wayland dispay acceleration works,
you will need a patched chromium with WebRTC enabled

did you have a ubuntu 22.04 x86-64 computer?

You can build it by your self:
1. Copy the h96-max-v56 directory to build/packages/blobs/ directory
2. Copy the h96-max-v56.conf file to the build/config/boards/ directory
3. Run the image build

I installed it and when it experienced a sudden shutdown, the boot got damaged and didn't start, so I reinstalled the boot to boot up, something that doesn't happen with other rk using the Multitool which helps a lot

Think Again and again and again and again, because:

On Linux:

1 - Follow the Build Armbian instructions
if it doesnt Build your image as espected
rm -rf build
git clone --depth 1 --branch v24.02 https://github.com/armbian/build
try again and again and again and again

2 - Download H96MAX Armbian Build Config (Original Source)
3 - Copy the h96-max-v56 directory to build/packages/blobs/ directory
4 - Copy the h96-max-v56.conf file to the build/config/boards/ directory
5 - Run the image build
./compile.sh

On Windows:

6 - Download the Armbian.cfg file to RKDevTool (Original Source)

7 - Drop it on RKDevTool

8 - Shutting down H96 MAX.
9 - Press the Reset button.
10 - Turn on the H96 MAX.
11 - Wait until The message "Found One MASKROM Device" or "Found One LOADER Device" should appear. (1)
12 - Mark all 2 sections with check marks (2)
13 - Open 2 files for each section (3)
14 - Check "Write by Address" (4).

15 - Press the "Run" button (5). The download will start.
When the message "Download image OK" appears, the download is finished (6).
16 - H96 MAX will automatically reboot.

Done.

Alternative: On Linux OS

And because a malware was discovered in the XZ library from Edge trixie and Edge sid
I came here again to remove and ReBuild all afected images.

Ubuntu: One of the most popular Linux distributions is not affected as its xz version is the older 5.4 version. No updates are required.
Debian Linux: No stable versions of the distribution were affected.

but compromised packages were part of test, unstable and experimental versions. Users must update xz-utils.
