[Ubuntu Core] USB network adapter stopped working

(I am running Ubuntu Core QT-Embedded on a nanoPi Neo using this network adapter)
The first time I used the network adapter it worked perfectly. I saw the adapter when I typed ifconfig -a and it connected to my network when I typed the following commands:

ifdown wlan0
ifup wlan0

Then I unplugged the power supply and plugged it back in and now it doesn't work or show up on ifconfig -a.

I tested it out on my Windows machine and the adapter works fine, and when I type lsusb I can see a network adapter so I'm very confused.
How can I resolve this issue?

If nothing was changed on the system I would try using different cables / PSU. I assume you are powering thee board via micro USB connector, which is problematic by default.

How do you suggest I power it?

If you have an option to power via micro USB or via GPIO pins, than GPIO is suggested method.
