k0rund Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I can not start armbian Debian Jessie Legacy 3.4.113 on orange pi lite. Loading goes to the words Starting kernel ... and black screen Armbian Ubuntu Xenial Nightly 4.9.4 runs well. What is the problem?
Igor Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 That is normal ... how long did you wait? What kind of SD card do you use? Can you check on router if you got an IP ?
k0rund Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 I wait 10 minutes. Display black. My sd, my power supply and cable

Maybe the charger, maybe the SD card, maybe something went wrong when writing the image to SD card? Simply follow all steps outlined in our documentation and report back: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-check-download-authenticity
k0rund Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 I did all the steps of the instruction I'm using the new Sony SD. I see everything also black screen! I note once again that Armbian Ubuntu Xenial Nightly 4.9.4 works, and Armbian Debian Jessie Legacy 3.4.113 does not work.

So what exactly means "does not work"? Only missing display output? Legacy kernel has some limitations on supported display modes and needs to be configured via SSH (not possible on Lite) or serial console (on pins or OTG port) if your display doesn't support 720p. Mainline kernel used display mode set by u-boot so if display works in u-boot it will work in OS too.
