snow Posted Friday at 12:40 AM Posted Friday at 12:40 AM Orange Pi 5 user here, got a new NVMe and decided to try the KDE Neon image for a first time, as it's reported that it's been tested and works: And it does -- until you do an apt update and reboot. Upon reboot, the graphical client and cursor appear but keeps popping up a bunch of error reporting windows, because KWin has crashed Just curious if anyone else wants to try it and confirm because you might want to remove that blurb Gnome image works great though, I've been running it full-time as a desktop with excellent stability and long long uptime 0 Quote

JFL Posted Friday at 06:44 AM Posted Friday at 06:44 AM Device: Orange-Pi-5-Plus Armbian-KDE-Neon After update this morning, KDE-Neon no longer boot up successfully to Plasma Desktop. Error "plasmashell" crash handle pop-up. Able to get into tty session by "ctrl+alt+F3" but not able to boot up successfully to KDE Plasma Desktop after the update/upgrade this morning. 1 Quote
snow Posted Friday at 05:23 PM Author Posted Friday at 05:23 PM Exactly -- this is the same symptom I experience as well, plasmashell window popups with error reporting. Some retry buttons and so on, none of which do anything significant 0 Quote

eselarm Posted yesterday at 09:11 AM Posted yesterday at 09:11 AM I have used/tested KDE-neon a while ago December 2024 I see from rootfs backup, that was on a ROCK3A and to enjoy KDE6. Maybe now if you want KDE6, Trixie has it, so as base Armbian (Debian) then upgrade and/or install KDE plasma (sudo tasksel to select and install). I have it on my ROCK5B, at least with edge kernel it works all as expected, compared with KDE6 on Opensuse Tumbleweed and Debian Trixie on N100 miniPC. In-place upgrade went fine, although the whole user environment from KDE5 is gone and you start from scratch new template KDE6 when upgrade from Bookworm->Trixie. If you want latest KDE, then Neon is now already newer than the 6.3 in Trixie AFAIR, but it seems to me that integration issues can be expected. I see Ubuntu Noble (Kubuntu) has KDE5 still. 0 Quote
