Let's sum up major concerns/problems and unify/create a plan of actions.

 

We already decided to wait with mainline H3-H5-A64 ... which means old stable/legacy kernels/a10-20-xu4 (what else?) mainline should be rebuilt and what remains goes under nightly? Images can be made one board at the time, they can be made in exactly 4 days or not. Perhaps I should emphasize "approximately" more? Or remove this date since it only creates an extra pressure? Or is it ok?

 

This should be fun. For me, most of the time is even sometimes days are wasted and frustration or stress builds up to insane levels.

We know which kernels are not done and there is nothing we can do in a week(s)/month, so let's focus now only on userspace and kernels which are labeled stable ...  and what shall be removed from /download and dl. ?


Since we don't go out with mainline H3-H5-A64 major testing is not that critical, but things are rolling in that direction. With a delay.
 

I am aware we are not organized perfectly. It's also WIP :)

It already has an obvious answer. Remove it and release when good and ready! I'm sure people would rather have a well tested and stable release!

Thank you for cheer up. :) Well, it is perspective biased. We have many different kernels which are in various states, we have userspace (CLI and desktop), utilities, documentation, website.  To have them all in a perfect state at once is mission impossible no matter how hard and smart we work. If we wait for all this to be perfectly aligned, the release date will never come. We need another approach to this problem.

I am seeking consent/approval and sharing responsibility - shell I put a current sunxi-next to the main repository or not, shell I rebuild at least A10/A20/imx6/rk3288/mvebu/xu4 (more precisely which combination to skip?) boards and with Stretch and why not?

IMO we could use wording like "approximately in X months" and "within a month" without setting exact dates.

yes (4.13.x), though not right now - in a couple of days since there are some userspace/BSP cleanups pending.

Tinker Board legacy kernel now supports the 7" RPi display out of the box, just went through the first boot procedure using it on Stretch. :)  Strange behavior on Stretch, the board is locking up for up to a minute before loading an app.  It gets to it eventually, but is completely unresponsive in the meantime.  I will try on another SD in the morning and grab some logs.

 

Hmmm, network issues on wireless it would seem, stay tuned. http://sprunge.us/FVjY

The board stops accepting input from keyboard/mouse/touchscreen, the circle keeps spinning on the mouse cursor, and no SD activity for several seconds to a minute or so. Then it acts normally.

Wireless is not accessing the network properly, I haven't even begun digging into that. It attaches to the wifi network no problem, just no internet (armbianmonitor -u threw a firewall error, I'll copy it later). Wired works.

These were not a problem on the Ubuntu I built a few days ago, with the same config down to the SD card.

No idea, didn't keep track of all legacy stuff. Last time it was broken due to upstream repository problems.

Also there are several u-boot issues that are fixed in v2017.11, but I would prefer to upgrade after this stable release.

I am running out of specifics - basic tests are done, problems fixed ... I have .debs ready up to latest sources and can rebuild repository. Images can be made during the night. I think current stable images have more (tiny) bugs than those waiting in the line .... since we have mainline H3/H5/A64 out of this picture. And it's also perfect timing 4.13.y is EOL ... and we push an update when 4.14.y comes into the decent state.

I don't think there is anything to fix there. Observed issue is the old bug (either disp2, arch timer or a combination of both) which is disappearing and reappearing again randomly due to its nature. But I didn't test this yet and we can always update pine64-default branch later using a newer ayufan's branch once any of those branches in considered "stable".
