Armbian based writerdeck build, Noob to TTY/Armbian - Not to linux

Featured Replies

Hi!

*Just a quick pre apology for the mass of text, but I only get one post a day as I'm new, so apologies for delays in responding for now!*

I'm building a writer deck type thing using Armbian and an Orange Pi zero 2w, but looking to run it without a traditional desk top to try to help me focus on things better rather than having a 'quick' 4 hour game on something or falling down some rabbit hole or other where I end up so far away from where I started I can't remember what I was initially looking for...

Anyhow...

I saw a video by Veronica Explains where she turned her old laptop into a writer deck and thought it would be a good idea... And due to my many attempts at projects decided to use the crap I have lying around to make one too... Planning to learn basic programming and use it four journalling/solo RPGs... Again... Rambling... Lol...

I've got the basic install set up and running... Need to tweak a few things but I have a larger issue at the moment. I'm using an 8 inch ultra wide monitor, running around 1920x480, and for whatever reason it's rotated so that it's using the slim edge as the top, so running as 480x1920. How would I change this if I'm not using a desktop?

I've used Linux for years but I only really use the basics in cli, which is kind of what I'm hoping to learn more often with this build.

I found a few options with xrandr command being used but it doesn't seem to be installed.

Any help? I feel like I'm probably being dumb and missing something obvious...

Thanks! Any help would be appreciated!

Theoretically this way, but no warranty that it will work on this specific hw / sw combo:

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/graphics/fbcon/rotate_all

Values: 0 normal, 1 90° clockwise, 2 upside down, 3 90° counter-clockwise.

Keep it after reboot. Add the value to the kernel command line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt:

extraargs=fbcon=rotate:1

And Welcome! :)

unfortunately this didn't work, I know it usually did the same with a desktop but obviously not the same in tty, if I install a desktop, change it and the remove the desktop might that work?

or would there be any other things I could try?

Its a HSD088IPW1-A if that helps.

I found this on someone's git hub about using it for conky, but I'm not sure where to put it. I'll keep looking

Thanks for your help!
