Good afternoon jock! I'm asking for your help again. The X88 pro 10 128 Gb(X88 PRO-8-RK3318-D4-V1.6) box does not want to work with an LED screen. Arabian-config led-config2 is set, the screen does not respond. There is no display folder in the /sys/class/leds directory. What needs to be done? Analog Audio out not working (25.2.1 / 6.1 kernel / KDE Neon)
eselarm replied to deskwizard's topic in Orange Pi 5
My ROCK5B is still at customs or package handling company, but I just did a quick test on my ROCK3A w.r.t. 3.5mm audio. It is headless running multi-user.target (NAS/server), Armbian Bookworm with beta repo. But it has KDE installed, so if I would do 'sudo systemctl isolate graphical.target', it flips to KDE Plasma5 GUI (that is what I do on NanoPi-R6C currently, it is cloned from there). I did manually put Radxa 2017 dated U-Boot blob in SPI-flash, so bootfs+rootfs from NVMe and also has native SATA on M.2 E-key slot. I full-upgrade every now and then (via ssh). Via ssh as normal user, I started playing some opus file with mpv, then plugged in my good old Sennheiser headset and simply good audio. See commands below. alsamixer shows a lot of I/O hardware, like I2S etc, but also some port that is or must be the 3.5mm (HP is that I think). I did not change settings. In pulsemixer I saw 2 stereo output devices, it should be HDMI and the audio chip RK809. I did disable one to 'off', (random guess, maybe not needed, hdmi off is what I aimed for) Also good to know that I removed/disabled pipewire, I still get a warning from mpv, something with 'pw.conf', but pulseaudio is used (forced that once in the past actually). user@rock3a:~$ uptime 09:45:33 up 18 days, 17:23, 2 users, load average: 0.66, 0.49, 0.46 user@rock3a:~$ uname -a Linux rock3a 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx #1 SMP Thu Apr 24 23:11:15 UTC 2025 aarch64 GNU/Linux user@rock3a:~$ alsamixer user@rock3a:~$ pulsemixer The OPi5Max might have completely different audio chip and/or bindings, then of course the test with ROCK3A is maybe irrelevant. But anyway, I want to know if I can use 3.5mm audio or not. I use(d) it on RPI4B with does not even have a proper audio chip. I have some background pulseaudio user .service started, that works great as audio sink on other computers. -
Thank you for replying me back and the hint. I ordered USB to TTL module Today. I'll debug and get back to you. Best regards alarik.

No problem installing Armbian stable 23.11 (or 23.8) and then upgrading to 25.2.3. Don't use nightly/trunk... francesco@orangepipc2:~$ uptime 08:32:44 up 29 days, 16:57, 1 user, load average: 0,26, 0,64, 0,36

This is not uncommon. Very few boards have hdmi support at boot level since developing this feature is expensive and simply not worth since the console output is also available via debug serial console where adapters for those are dirt cheap. To get an idea what happens inside you have to grab these logs and provide them. https://debug.armbian.de

Efforts to develop firmware for H96 MAX V56 RK3566 8G/64G
mvpwar replied to Hqnicolas's topic in Rockchip CPU Boxes
Hi @Hqnicolas, could you please help to tell me how to flash this official community image? it seems can not upgrade the firmware directly -
Hi @Zaf9670, Your situation actually helped find an OBOE in the U-Boot image overlap test, so thank you for that! Can you try with an older image and share the U-Boot output? Also, can you add the following in your armbianEnv.txt: verbosity=8 earlycon=on console=serial I've had better experience with setting console to serial only and earlycon might help the kernel spew out some things earlier on. Groetjes,
-
So I tired the latest releases as well and the PineCube just stays stuck on "Starting kernel ..." Changing the verbosity in the armbianEnv.txt still has no effect so not sure where to go from here sadly.

Analog Audio out not working (25.2.1 / 6.1 kernel / KDE Neon)
deskwizard replied to deskwizard's topic in Orange Pi 5
Nope, not gonna happen. If anyone spot something, let me know, I'll wait for 25.5 and kernel 6.1.115 and hope for the best. - Yesterday

Yes I verified that its there. But im suspecting something though. I have a NAND rk322x and using jumpstart to boot armbian using sd card, can that possibly causing this issue? edit: nah scratch that, I snag my on emmc model and tried it there but this time uboot did throw some useful stuff it relates that it cannot load the dtbo file? I cd to the directory and it was there. edit2: managed to partially get the OTG port working, just have to edit the dtb file on my own instead of relying on armbian-config now the otg functionality kinda works? I ended with this error and basically clueless at this point [ 76.310374] dwc2 30040000.usb: new device is high-speed [ 76.310458] dwc2 30040000.usb: dwc2_hsotg_enqueue_setup: failed queue (-11) pi-kvm is partially working, the usb capture and everything works except for the USB OTG so no remote keyboard/mouse functionality.

Hi. I've got a strange issue. When Orange Pi 5 Max was unavailable I installed version for Orange Pi 5 Pro from SD card to NVME SSD. It worked fine Now I decided for fresh install of Armbian dedicated to Max board but I can't boot from SD card. I used exactly the same card and the same power supply as when I installed armbian originally, but when I insert SD card, led goes blue and system is not booting. I don't have any signal on HDMI - monitor goes sleep. When I remove SD card - system boots from SSD and all is working. I removed SSD but system still can't boot from SD card. Do you know any method to boot from SD card or install armbian image in other way? For now I'm considering buying nvme usb case and clonning img directly to ssd but I'd like to avoid that as I don't know if that will work.

It is diffucult to add certain advanced features to both / all base packages versions - which is the core difference between Debian and Ubuntu. And later more difficult and certainly less fun is keeping features operational. This is one of the main points behind providing both variants. Making assembly (Debian Bookworm, Ubuntu Jammy, Noble, ...) is easier, and cover several other aspects too, then adding and maintaining advanced features for both / all. Sometimes its nearly impossible (our resources are not endless and we have to remember we are in open source world - forks compete without contributions to commons) to add something to one, while its relatively easy adding it to another. At the end of the day, it is, like you said, more important that some feature works.

$ xz -t Armbian_25.2.1_Khadas-edge2_noble_vendor_6.1.99_gnome_desktop.oowow.img.xz $ echo $? 0 Check your download. Probably corrupted.

@remlei last time I checked, the usb gadget overlay was working fine and the UCD device was correctly spawning up. Some things work with rk322x (mass storage), some others don't (UAC1, UAC2), so your mileage may vary. Verify you have usb-otg-peripheral in /boot/armbianEnv.txt in the overlays= line

Hi, Very good news. Could you please give output of following commands cat /proc/cpuinfo cat /proc/interrupts Thanks in advance

Debian is "cleaner" and more true to the gnome desktop. Also, Ubuntu uses snaps, which is removed in Armbian and replaced with Debian packages, like Chromium. It's like a mix of two distros. But, I'll be happy with one working distro

Ubuntu is not just Debian. Ubuntu has very different policies and sits on top of Debian. For example, Ubuntu is more tolerant with regards to binary blobs and it very much possible that this would explain your finding. I guess the question you should answer first is why not simply use Ubuntu if it works for your and Debian does not?

I have now been able to build server images for Raspberry Pi 5B and Radxa 5C, both having gpu hardware driver support. However, this only works with Ubuntu Noble as a distro base. I would also like to make Debian Bookworm images, but when I do, I never get any gpu hardware driver support. Why is that? What's so special about Ubuntu (which basically is Debian)?

GPU blacklisted the panfrost module Has it been resolved? Thank you -
Hah - thank you for pointing that out - I completely overlooked the rate listed in the part’s title. Do you happen to know of a similar part that supports the baud rate of these devices?
