I should already work out of the box - I think you get 1024x768 if EDID detection failed.
Are you perhaps using self configured desktop?

Check: /etc/default/log2ram
# configuration values for the log2ram service ENABLED=true SIZE=50M USE_RSYNC=false

There is an option planned in the future to write the logs on HDD ?
We need to find out what the problem might be ... Just disable ramlog service and you are back to normal / slower logging.

I do not understand why this folder is erased on reboot
We are using ram logging to gain performance and save SD media and which might have some issues ... Temporally workaround is to create this file along with directory.

Yes, all images were rebuilt (5.2.) since they were built without video acceleration libraries. By mistake / with wrong parameter.

Try via some powered USB hub. Bad powering looks exactly like this ... some random problems, first on areas where 5V is needed ...

I have dongle rtl8192cu it is so big garbage, until now i have some drivers for it but it crushes some times and have unstable connection. Try these drivers from git hub:
https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixes
and no improvement. Any suggestions?
Those drivers should be fine / the best what's out there ... strange. Well, those dongles are shit in first place ...
Alternative is (testing) mainline kernel. We provide automated nightly builds ... but you are on your own.

https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-> Nightly releases
It works, but this is automated build since its still under development, which means sometimes could be broken.

Hi guys,
Just dug out my Cubox after a few years and tried to install Armbian but I am having the same error as jpearn.
Is there any way to resolve this (step by step) ? or a previous version that I can use?
Thanks
Perhaps you have older Cubox which is based on Marvell chip set and not imx6 ? Are there any marks on the box? Can you open and check the chip?

I there i can install ispconfig in orangepi zero 512mb ram but after that i can´t reach it i use x.x.x.x:4000 and nothing heapend
Any help?
Last time I was installing it to Debian Jessie - few months ago, it was working normally.
In case of troubles - check logs and read documentations. There are no quick solutions:
Note that ISPconfig is a complex and powerful tool. I also need to read manual if things broke: http://www.ispconfig.org/get-support/
If you need just a web server wih php and perhaps sql, check those tutorials: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials

Patch should go here (sun8i-dev):
https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/tree/master/patch/kernel/sun8i-dev

By the way how much time does it takes?
Mostly it depends from your download speed and CPU. If you have some average download speed (10Mbit), IIRC it should be done in less than one hour if you do this first time. Second build, when cache is created, it takes around 5-7 min on some modern SSD driven 4-8 Intel core. Kernel compilation + image building.

- Allwinner H5
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 512MB (test subject)
- made few tests with our testing H5 (4.10) kernel

You need to add (some of) those bits to Opi 2 dts file:
-
why this driver is missing in default armbian repo?
Since Hans started to play around is possible, that driver will find a way upstream and we won't need to add it with a patch. Anyway, this kernel is Work In Progress and if you see something missing or you find a bug and know how to fix it, you are welcome to help. We can't address all issues.
-
It is possible that kernel does not support those screen parameters ... in that case you will need to dig into video driver. We are done with legacy kernels on those boards ...
If you don't need MALI & video acceleration, better use mainline kernel, where you should not have those problems. Overall kernel 4.x is in much better shape.

There is no grub ...
Permanent change - check:
/etc/default/nodm
Per request:
service nodm start / stop

One of the beauty of our build tools is, that we take care for this pain and match proper compiler (or patch) per any source involved in the process.

Try to boot mainline kernel with adding:
fdtfile=sun7i-a20-pcduino3.dtb
to /boot/armbianEnv.txt
-
Yes it must be present unless ... check this. RetrOrangePi is Armbian + a bunch of stuff.

I think it's related to bug in wireless driver (ap6210) which sometimes causes crash on unload / shutdown. If you don't need wireless, disable this module and you should be fine.

I used to run complex services, including this forum, for at least half a year without a single issue (on probably the same image - Jessie 5.20). We haven't done much changes on the top of Hardkernel kernel either. Crashes can be caused by some hardware defects, insufficient power supply, bad media, bad 3rd party wireless chip, ...
If you plan to do upgrade, skip u-boot package, kernel upgrade should be fine. And if you plan to used it as a server, consider using modern kernel. It should be good, bud it doesn't have HDMI console ... serial or SSH access only.

It works fine for me on HDMI display and also on HDMI recorder.
ARMBIAN 5.26 stable Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 4.9.9-cubox (built one hour ago from sources)
I want to set the video output to HDMI port when the cable is not connected.

Yes, I just checked. It's set to VGA if nothing come up on HDMI. This is the console output:
