  1. The screenshot you included looks normal. You have a functioning command line terminal available to use. I'm assuming (since you don't say what image you have installed) that you have installed a command line image (non- desktop).
  2. Moved posts to proper forum (Allwinner TV Boxes from Rockchip TV Boxes)
  3. @Byzor Please follow the instructions in the following FAQ entry: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus The rest of the information in this thread should still be relevant.
  4. @Mister 3o5 Please read the following TV box FAQ items: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first/#comment-118794 https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus/ Also, the best advice I can give is to look at the following mega thread dealing with the s805 CPU and TV boxes, but note no one has really worked on these for a couple of years. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/3023-armbian-for-amlogic-s805-and-s802s812
  5. @aKingabut Please read the two Tv box forum FAQ posts to understand the status of tv boxes under Armbian (short version don't expect any support and balbes150 has moved on from his working with amlogic CPUs) https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first/#comment-118794 https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus
  6. @javaxsousa I don't see any comments above that indicate anyone is successful booting armbian onto a h96max h616 based box. I see a lot of posts about how things don't work and lots of people trying different patch sets, but I don't see anyone having success.
  7. You have downloaded the server version (command line interface only). What you want is one of the downloads with *desktop* in the name, like: Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0_desktop.img.xz Note: there is no buster desktop version, only bullseye and focal desktops.
  8. Moved post to TV box forum. Armbian doesn't support TV Boxes. See the info on this FAQ post: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first Also note that this is a new soc by allwinner, and it often takes years for the open source world to support new socs. The h616 soc that came out a couple years ago is still not well supported. And I suspect that this new soc is a 32bit soc, which means it may never be well supported, as it seems most work these days is focussed on 64bit CPUs.
  9. @b13 Please read the following TV Box FAQ post to understand the status of TV Boxes on armbian. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first Then feel free to search the archives for what others have experienced.
  10. @Max Sterg If your box has a rockchip 3228 then you are in the wrong forum. This forum is for boxes with amlogic cpus. You should look at the following forum: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12656-csc-armbian-for-rk322x-tv-boxes The first post has the instructions on how to install on a rk3228 tv box.
  11. @zchrish I would suggest starting with reading the Tv box forum faq items: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first/#comment-118794 and https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus/#comment-140648
  12. The .xz file is the image. The .sha file is the checksum. I think you should google and learn about the purpose and use of checksums, to understand what the .sha file is for.
  13. What exactly do you mean by this? If you are looking to run the exact image you deploy to a SBC in a virtual environment, you can't really do that. If you are looking to run an armbian build that has the same linux kernel and user space environment as an SBC/TV Box build, that you should be able to do. A virtualized environment is really a specific virtualized set of hardware which will be different than the hardware for any specific SBC/TV Box. So the low level uboot and hardware environment (i.e. dtb files) will be different between the SBC build and the virtual environment build. But from that level up (kernel and user space) everything can be the same. Armbian has a build target for the QEMU environment (Virtual QEMU) and automated builds for that here: https://github.com/armbian/community/releases
  14. @MBB I would recommend that reach out to @Igor via irc or discord for that discussion.
  15. @MBB Are you working to get your patches submitted back to base Armbian? The reason I'm asking is given your current instructions (pull armbian source, apply your zip of patches) you will run into problems over time as the armbian codebase changes, since you aren't tied to a specific git commit or label. Also long term where do your end users turn for software support? Armbian certainly isn't setup to provide end user support for projects like this. Just wondering about how you envision long term support working as it relates to the armbian code you are building on top of.
  16. Moved post to a new thread and edited the log files into spoiler sections
  17. In the link provided above to the instructions, there are two desktop builds (the ones names *desktop*). bullseye is debian, focal is ubuntu.
  18. As this thread describes the balbes150 builds are not capable of hardware accellerated video. lgranie was using newer kernels to experiment. Also as the TV Box FAQ mentions, do not expect to be successful using TV Boxes with video - generally only expect good performance for non-gui (i.e. server) use cases. Finally, please don't post the same question in multiple threads as you did yesterday.
  19. From your failure log, this line would indicate that one of the dtb overlays can't be read. Can you verify that this file exists and is not corrupted on the sd card of the failure case. The most likely cause in my opinion is a poor quality sd card. Making sure you have a high quality sd card is one of the first things to check in situations like this.
  20. Please read: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first
  21. @galoc You don't provide any information on what you have done. So I can't really help. Have you read the following: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16976-status-of-armbian-on-tv-boxes-please-read-first and https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus
  22. Given the build version info, you are not using an official Armbian build. What sbc are you working with? And I would also like to ask, what are you trying to accomplish? Editing dtb's is an expert level task. I want to make sure you are going down the right path to accomplish your goals.
