  2. I used the default driver implementation - check what an how it works: http://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus It's not user friendly but hacker friendly Playing of video is normal. In window or full screen. HDMI audio is possible to achieve. http://linux-sunxi.org/Audio_Codec
  3. Here is a thread regarding VoIP clients on Banana Pi and this is the output of "apt-cache show linphone-nogtk" running Armbian Wheezy: Package: linphone-nogtk Source: linphone Version: 3.5.2-10 Installed-Size: 125 Maintainer: Debian VoIP Team <pkg-voip-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org> Architecture: armhf Depends: libc6 (>= 2.13-28), liblinphone4 (>= 3.5.2), libmediastreamer1 (>= 3.5.2), libncurses5 (>= 5.5-5~), libortp8 (>= 3.5.2), libosip2-7, libreadline6 (>= 6.0), libspeex1 (>= 1.2~beta3-1), libtinfo5, libx11-6, linphone-common (= 3.5.2-10), host Description-en: SIP softphone - console-only client Linphone is an audio and video internet phone using the SIP protocol. It has a GTK+ and console interface, includes a large variety of audio and video codecs, and provides IM features. . This package contains the console version of linphone, which saves space as it doesn't link to the gtk libraries. It does however still link to libx11 for video support. . Console Tools: . . linphonec is a command line interface that can use readline on Linux to get completion, history, such as bash. . linphonecsh is another command line tool to remotely control a linphonec daemon. 4. Dear Igor, please, can You explain me step-by-step (because I'm a noob) how can I make usable with Orange Pi mini your Desktop Trusty image (Kernel 3.4.108 with HW accelerated video playback)? When I just boot image, I have dead USB, even OTG, when I try to do according your recommendation (maybe I do it wrong), I have nothing.
  5. Ubuntu because I haven't build others yet. If this is working Debian will work too. ... and latest changes around video within kernel has nothing to do with this. If you don't get a picture at boot time, this is the problem of u-boot or something that we don't know yet. BTW. Do you have something plugged into USB? Unplug and boot.
  6. Hello, sorry for my very bad english. I have installd the desktopimage for the bananapi m1. It works. But same programms does work because the autmatic login user is root. So exaile, chromium-browser does start. Synatipc starts from the gui after starting the AT-bus programm (see menu starting programms) Tunar needs to install the gvfs-backend, then you can see the computers in the network. To change the language in the gui you need to install the language-pack-de (for german). I have also a cubitruck and thin this problems also in the image for the cubietruck. The first problems can solved when the automic user is not root. The other when the packeges are in the images. Also the is the near the best images for the bananpi. Mr. Pecovnik, you made a very good job. greetings Milo PS: I have no Creditcard and no Paypal, how can i otherwise donate?
  7. Hi papasmurfster, on my system I could see the usb devices in lsusb and dmesg command outputs (lsusb found the stick as "ID 2013:025f PCTV Systems"). If you can't see the USB stick there, i'm afraid i cannot help you. If the stick shows up there, dmesg should output something like: usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=2013, idProduct=025f usb 2-1: Product: PCTV 292e usb 2-1: Manufacturer PCTV usb 2-1: SerialNumber *somenumber* this is standard USB device output and also showed up with no working driver. It shows the USB stick is recognized even if no driver is present. In the compile.sh script i changed the line KERNEL_CONFIGURE="no" to KERNEL_CONFIGURE="yes". According to your answer you already did this, i just mention it to reproduce all the needed steps After starting the script, at some point the kernel menuconfig will pop up. Here I selected the following options: Device Drivers --> I2C-Support --> I2C bus multiplexing support <*> Device Drivers --> I2C-Support --> Multiplexer I2C Chip Support: All 3 options to <*> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Analog TV support [*] Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Digital TV support [*] Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> AM/FM radio receivers/transmitters support [*] Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> DVB Network support [*] Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters [*] Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> Support for various USB DVB devices v2 <*>, all sub options as module <m> except DVBSky USB support <*> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> Empia EM28xx USB devices support <*> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> Empia EM28xx analog TV, Video capture and/or webcam support <*> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> Empia EM28xx ALSA audio module <M> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> DVB/ATSC Support for em28xx based TV cards <*> Device Drivers --> Multimedia Support --> Media USB Adapters --> Autoselect ancillary drivers (tubers, sensors, i2c, frontends) [*] I think these options are be everything I changed. After that, the dmesg output shows additional lines when plugging in the stick: [ 4.577201] em28178 #0: EEPROM ID = 26 00 01 00, EEPROM hash = 0x8f0cf804 [ 4.577222] em28178 #0: EEPROM info: [ 4.577230] em28178 #0: microcode start address = 0x0004, boot configuration = 0x01 [ 4.585684] em28178 #0: AC97 audio (5 sample rates) [ 4.585711] em28178 #0: 500mA max power [ 4.585721] em28178 #0: Table at offset 0x27, strings=0x146a, 0x1888, 0x0a7e [ 4.586268] em28178 #0: Identified as PCTV tripleStick (292e) (card=94) [ 4.586291] em28178 #0: dvb set to isoc mode. Another problem with the stick: It does not start correctly on system boot, i have to unplug and replug it after booting to get it to work. I hope to find a script to "unplug" and "replug" it via console. Regards Markus
  8. Just a small follow-up: To get an idea what's going on inside enclosures I added one DS1820 externally to get ambient temperature and one DHT11 inside the server's enclosure close to the PSU (took me some time to patch the programm to read out the DHT11 without a pull-up resistor and to realize that it's not enough to add w1-gpio and w1_therm to /etc/modules when w1_sunxi is missing to be able to talk to the DS1820). Since the device is some sort of a surveillance server (feeds 5 RPi B+ with camera module via PoE and both records their video streams and 'transcodes' to be accessible in realtime via VLC) I also added the ability to record the internal temperature of all 5 PiSpy cams: RPi-Monitor is really great to realize obvious relationships otherwise invisible :-)
  9. the A20 video features are only working good via sunxi-vdpau and mplayer or vdr with softhd-device VDR can play streams with the iptv-plugin
  10. it worked for no reason, i unplugged it many times, restarted cubietruck and suddenly it worked. Now i have many other problems like no hdmi sound, impossible video play and so on, but thats another topic^^ this can be closed

  12. Hi After reading this: "No audio driver, IR, NAND, BT, HW video, I2C and SPI untested on 4.0 or higher" i'm not sure which kernel version should i choose. Is that "no audio driver" means that there is no HDMI audio, or no any audio including jack audio? Both kernels support the "Allwinner Security System cryptographic accelerator"? As i'm using CB2 as a headless java application server, samba fileserver, dlna server and music player daemon server, i need only jack audio from these, and of course the hw cryptographic support.
  13. Hello Imagox, Did you succeed in creating a build with Toshiba driver? I want to do the same as you, so as I can capture HDMI video with a HummingBoard. Please, let me know if you had any progress. Regards,
  14. I think the problem is kernel loading address. Check this (working) boot script: setenv bootargs root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootfstype=ext4 rootwait console=tty1 video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24,bpp=32 rd.dm=0 rd.luks=0 rd.lvm=0 raid=noautodetect pci=nomsi ahci_imx.hotplug=1 consoleblank=0 vt.global_cursor_default=0 quiet ext2load mmc 0 0x18000000 /boot/dtb/${fdt_file} ext2load mmc 0 0x12000000 /boot/zImage bootz 0x12000000 - 0x18000000 Forget about converting. I think it needs to be zImage.
  15. Thank you so much Igor! This solved my problems! Originally I was following the instructions here to get my image using another Linux machine. So I compiled the kernel and uboot image, then followed the instructions at the bottom to flash them into my SD card. However, the instructions seem to work only for uImage, but I got a zImage from compiling the 3.14 kernel, so I changed the first line of uEnv.txt to "bootfile=/boot/zImage", but that gave me a "Wrong Image Format for bootm command" when I tried it on hummingboard. I then did the following in uboot: setenv bootargs 'console=ttymxc0,115200 video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24,bpp=32' ext2load mmc 0:1 0x10800000 /boot/zImage bootz 0x10800000 But my screen just went black after the bootz command. I then tried converting the zImage to uImage by typing the following: mkimage -A arm -O linux -T kernel -C none -a 0x80008000 -e 0x80008000 -n "Linux kernel" -d arch/arm/boot/zImage uImage I tried to boot off that uImage and it gave me a black screen again. What am I doing wrong here? PS: From the instructions I followed, I did not do anything for following line because I wasn't sure what to do: <copy the root filesystem and do any other modifications on the mounted partition> ,but I doubt that's the reason?
  16. And remember to add this boot script: /boot/boot.cmd setenv bootargs root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootfstype=ext4 rootwait console=tty1 video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24,bpp=3 2 ahci_imx.hotplug=1 quiet ext2load mmc 0 0x18000000 /boot/dtb/imx6q-udoo.dtb ext2load mmc 0 0x12000000 /boot/zImage bootz 0x12000000 - 0x18000000 And convert it to the uboot format: mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr And of course adjust according to your conditions. This is for one partition SD card. If you have first FAT than some extra work is needed.
  17. Hi Igor! I am sorry for so many questions, but I just can't seem to find the solution for my question. I need to activate (install) the Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders module, that is located in Device Drivers -> Multimedia Support -> Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips . (when running menuconfig) Usually, this is done by downloading a new kernel, then running the menuconfig and going to Drivers/Multimedia Support and unselect "Autoselect ancillary drivers (tuners, sensors, i2c, frontends)" and a new list of "Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips ." appears. And there i select Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders module by pressing Y. After this I save the .config and compile the kernel and install it and reboot. I tried this on banana pi and it compiled without errors but I could not boot it. The image of the kernel, in /boot folder somehow needed to be linked to the zImage, which I could not do (I have read about the u-boot and could not figure out how to use it) and ultimately I decided to install the new Debian Wheezy 4.1.2 from your website. In a previous post you told me that in order to upgrade kernel, I need to follow the instructions from https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/blob/next/documentation/general-faq.md#how-to-update-kernel I did that, and tried to install the same kernel, 4.1.2 but it offered me no way of configuring it. Because the whole point of compiling new kernel is to add the Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders module, that is present by default in the kernel but it is not included/activated by default. So how can I do this? How can activate the Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders module ? Thank you very much in advance and sorry for so many questions.

  19. It's much simpler and faster to add this functionality than teach you step by step how to do it ... even if it's written clearly enough for average Linux user. But problems might occur and this bring more questions. Read forum / FAQ and you'll get much needed info. It's simple but you need to invest some time. Download this image and burn to SD (wait until it's uploaded) http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Bananapi_Debian_3.3_wheezy_4.1.3.zip I added support for Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders You need to use my image for easy update. For rest read FAQ. Some manual work is needed. I never try to compile kernel on device because it's way to slow. I don't know if my tool works without any fixes but in any case you need to download a proper Linux source. And I hope you know limitations of kernels 3.4 vs 4.x ? BTW: most important things are documented on my blog, sunxi wiki, ...
  20. Hi! Can someone please explain how can I activate the "Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips\VIDEO_SAA711X" option in menuconfig from Device Drivers -> Multimedia support ? I have banana pi and it is running debian wheezy kernel 3.19.3 from this link: http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Bananapi_Debian_2.5_wheezy_3.19.3.zip I also have a easycap somagic usb video capture card and in order to install it's drivers, I need to activate all of it's dependencies from kernel otherwise when compiling the module, I get many warnings and when I try to do modprobe to the generated .ko file, it also gives me error. I contacted the developers of the driver for the easycap somagic smi2021 usb card and they said that those errors are probably because dependencies upon which the driver is depending are not installed/activated. Here is the full conversation (it is short): https://github.com/Manouchehri/smi2021/issues/11 In the folder where I downloaded and extracted debian wheezy 3.19.3 when I run make menuconfig, I need to go to "Device Drivers -> Multimedia support ->Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips -> Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders" but when I go to "Multimedia Support" there is no "Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips" to activate or to choose. How can I get the "Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips" to be in "Multimedia Support" when I run make menuconfig? Thanks
  21. Hi Igor! Thank you for your quick reply. I have looked up into https://github.com/igorpecovnik/liband it is a really big library. I will continue to study it. But in the meantime, if I download the 4.1.3 kernel from you, how can I install it without changing my current desktop environment? I have created some files there, installed some programs, etc. If I install the new kernel, will that delete all of that data? Also, when I compiled the kernel with the method I wrote earlier, in the boot folder, it created 3 new files: vmlinuz-3.19.3 and 2 more files. There was also a vmlinuz-3.19.3-bananapi and the zImage was a link to it. So I thought that if I change link of the zImage to the newly created vmlinuz-3.19.3, I will be able to use the new kernel, but I was wrong. Now the Linux does not even boot. I have placed my sd card in my windows pc and copied back the old zImage which is pointing to vmlinuz-3.19.3-bananapi but it still does not boot. Do you know how can I make my linux boot again? And if it is possible, can I boot it from vmlinuz-3.19.3 as when I compiled it, in menuconfig I added extra options which were needed when installing the standalone smi2021 module. Basically, I need a kernel that will have the options of Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders from menuconfig installed or tuned on, by default.
  22. Here is what I did but i think the module ( Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders ) has not been installed. 1. Download http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Bananapi_Debian_2.5_wheezy_3.19.3.zip 2. Extract in folder linux-3.19.3 3. cd to folder linux-3.19.9 4. run make menuconfig 5. Go to Device Drivers/Multimedia Support and unselect "Autoselect ancillary drivers (tuners, sensors, i2c, frontends)" and a new list appears 6. I go to the Encoders, decoders, sensors and other helper chips and press "Y" key to sellect the needed modules, in my case: Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders and a few others. 7. I save the configuration as .config in the same folder linux-3.19.3 and exit 8. I run make and it is compiling for about 2 hours 9. I run make modules 10. I run make modules_install 11. I run make install 12. I run reboot And fter the rebopot it seems that the Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoders are still not installed as the program smi2021 which requires the modules is still giving the same errors like there is no Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoder installed. Is there a way to check for sure on my kernel is the Philips SAA7111/3/4/5 video decoder is installed? Also, am I compiling the kernel correctly? Thanks!
