  1. Dear all, I am using armbian Mainline Debian Jessie 4.9.7 and 4.9.12 on a Banana Pi Pro (A20). Coming from legacy and fex, I came a long way learning a lot about Device Trees, Overlays, etc. the last 2 weeks. I even compiled some dev kernels to experiment. I currently struggle with with the OTG port. I have two devices on the primary slots and need to get the OTG in host mode to attach my third device. I've read that the OTG is not providing 5V to the device. Therefore, I use Pin4 5V DC and Pin6 GND of the 40Pin header. It works well when connecting Device #3 on USB 1 or 2. But not on OTG. I used dmesg to track devices. Is there anything I am missing? Do I need to edit armbianEnv.txt with some parameter? Thank you very much for your help!
  2. Hi, Thanks for the excellent distribution I noticed that in the hardwareinfo script there is no bananapipro result and when I boot new vanilla 4.5 Kernel the banana.dtb file is used instead of the bananapro.dtb As a result, no wifi, see also last two replies here for similar issue with M1: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/340-banana-pi-m1plus-no-wifi/?p=2138 Dirty Solution: hardcode loading bananapipro.dtb in boot.cmd. Wifi works This is result of "cat /proc/cpuinfo"
  3. I tested the actual Xenial on my BPP but got a crashdump each time I reboot or shutdown the system. I found, that armhwinfo was causing this crash by removing the module a20_tp. Disabling the line /sbin/modprobe -r $(cut -f1 -d' ' </proc/modules) in /etc/init.d/armhwinfo avoid this problem. This line is part of a patch Thomas Kaiser introduced in October last year. I don't know, if this problem occurs only in my configuration (nothing special, but a connected Lemaker 5" LCD may be the difference), or it is related to the Kernel 3.4.113 only, but it goes reproducably wrong, if this line is active. It cause the oposite of the intention of this patch, because after the crash, the next module (sunxi_ir) is ending in a loop. So no sync is executed and the power stays on. Without this line, all works well. I think, the patch has to be patched again - don't touch a20_tp. BR Guido
  4. Hello together, I'm trying to connect an LVDS panel to my BananPro and would like to switching power on/of and backlight on/off throw a GPIO pin. So, first of all, I've added some lines to my DTS file (in &pio section). This is for backlight driver (PH12 is connected to CON2 pin 7): bl_en_pins_a: bl_en@0 { allwinner, pins = "PH12"; allwinner, function = "gpio_out"; allwinner, drive = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_10_MA>; allwinner, pull = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_PULL_DOWN>; }; And this is for enable pin of voltage regulator (PH7 is connected to CON2 pin 6): lcd_power_pins_a: lcd_power@0 { allwinner, pins = "PH7"; allwinner, function = "gpio_out"; allwinner, drive = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_10_MA>; allwinner, pull = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_PULL_DOWN>; }; So, my question: How can I access those pins in linux (i.e. switch on or off and so one)? I'm using mainline kernel 4.4.11 and BananaPRO. Many thanks & kind regards, Heinrich
  5. Hi... Sorry if this has already answered... I want to know how activate the I2S interface in the latest vanilla image... In the past using the legacy kernel only need to change a few thing in the fex file... Thanks in advance...
  6. Like whaaaaaa... Okay, so long and frustrating story short, I have been having inexplicable stability issues on my Banana Pro. I have blamed the SD card, the power supply, the micro USB cable, but none of those leads seemed to actually lead anywhere. I connected up a Fluke multimeter to the SATA power output, set to peak min mode, to see if I get any undervolting... Nope, no problem there. I ran stress tests on my sd card on my computer - it was PERFECT. I was completely stumped... Until, after getting an Anker charging cable, and having a really good run with the new Armbian release - the system had been working for an hour without glitches, apt-get worked, I have upgraded and installed mc, ran "stress" for 20 minutes with no issues... I decided to try if Wifi will work... (I suspected it might not, as I was (still am) getting errors like these in dmesg: brcmf_cfg80211_reg_notifier: not a ISO3166 code (0x30 0x30) brcmf_p2p_create_p2pdev: timeout occurred brcmf_cfg80211_add_iface: add iface p2p-dev-wlan0 type 10 failed: err=-5So following the "getting started" guide, I kicked off nmtui-connect, typed in my password for my 2.4 wifi ap, and then all hell broke loose. Everything fell apart right there and then, with error messages like these: mmc0: card stuck in programming state! mmc_erase: group start error -5, status 0x0 ext4fs: This should never happen etc.Well... that's when I looked at my board, neatly inside a Chinese enclosure, with a Chinese RP-SMA pigtail connected up to the WiFi, the cable actually touching the board... So I'm like "wait a minute right there, this can't be no coincidence"... So I removed the pigtail, re-flashed the memory card, rebooted, and for a while things were working. I upgraded the system, installed mc, tried connecting to the WiFi (didn't work without antenna), tried scanning for APs (detected the closer ones successfully)... I was pretty happy, posted here about how WiFi interference was probably the real culprit, left the battery to charge, with the system running "stress" constantly, checking in now and then on AC voltages in /sys/power (between 4.8V and 5.1V), and CPU temp (below 61C)... and then, after two hours, I decided to install Privoxy.. and right enough, during apt-get, the MC card errors again. Stuck in programming state, i/o error, error -5 sending status command, the whole deal. Again. Really I don't get it. EDIT 2: I booted up again, this time pulled off the battery to make sure that charging doesn't accidentally undervolt anything... Voltage safely above 5V according to /sys/power... Logged in again, sudo apt-get install privoxy again, mmc error again, remounted read-only, that's it. It's an EVO32 - the SD card people keep recommending as THE card to use with SBCs... According to testing it's 100% good...
  7. Hello everyone, This is my first post, but i've been using armbian for almost one year (https://twitter.com/logicite/status/682267764384501760), so : thank you for your work ! I use armbian ubuntu on Olimex A20 lime 2, and on LeMaker Banana Pro. So far no difficulty, or i was able to find the answers on the forum. This time, i can't find anything, so i'm asking for your help : A few months ago i was able to use the onboard sound card on the BananaPro. It was showing up in alsamixer and in aplay -l. The sound was not good so i used a USB sound card instead. Today, i can't find this onboard sound card any longer. I suspect this is due to some update in between, as i cannot find it on any of the 3 BananaPro i've got at home... According to http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/688-no-sound-card-on-50-trusty-vanilla-but-it-works-on-jessie/#entry5012, i tried : modprobe sun4i-codec but the sound card doesn't show up... I tried to add it in /etc/modules, but no change. According to http://wiki.lemaker.org/BananaPro/Pi:Audio, i tried to create /etc/asound.conf : pcm.!default { type hw card 0 //If you want to set HDMI as output ,turn 0 to 1. device 0 } ctl.!default { type hw card 0 //If you want to set HDMI as output ,turn 0 to 1. } but no change either... According to https://github.com/LeMaker/sunxi-boards/commit/c8be2f0b32fa0e41dc4b46fb384479bebb68ca6e, i tried to change /boot/script.bin : -audio_pa_ctrl = port:PH15<1><default><default><1> +audio_pa_ctrl = port:PH26<1><default><default><1> but it didn't change anything (again). I though i would revert this one, when i found http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/452-no-audio-on-35-jack-with-bananapi-m1-and-debian-jessie/#entry2912: looks like PH15 is somehow connected to wireless module power and i don't see the link with sound card. Anyway, the board is still ok (and the wifi also :-), so it doesn't matter here. Well, i don't know what to do now : this on board sound card on the Banana Pro was working, and it is no longer. Do you have any leads for me please ? 8. Hey all, Have been using my Banana Pro w/ Armbian & a 1tb HDD as a Micro Home Server w/ Bittorrent Sync/Samba Shares/Webmin. I attempted to install Syncthing from the install script and it errored after saying "package cant be opened" It became unresponsive to commands. I powered it off then on again and it says "Bad crc error" at boot & seems to find its dhcp IP but hangs.. Google searches havent helped me resolve the issue, thanks.
  9. Hey guys, I have a Banana Pro and recently switched to Armbian from Bananian. I boot from an HDD connected to the SATA port on bpi. Apparently the root fs is supposed to get resized to the max size(1TB in my case) during the first boot. But, well, it didn't work for me.. so instaed of 1TB I had 1.5 GBs. I wiped the partition in fdisk and created a new one using the old starting block(2048) but leaving the end to default. Result: I now have all the space available to me but everytime I log in it still says "90% of 1.5G". Why doesn't it scale?I know this is kinda ridiculous but I'm a perfectionist haha. ____ ____ _ ____ | __ ) __ _ _ __ __ _ _ __ __ _ | _ \(_) | _ \ _ __ ___ | _ \ / _` | '_ \ / _` | '_ \ / _` | | |_) | | | |_) | '__/ _ \ | |_) | (_| | | | | (_| | | | | (_| | | __/| | | __/| | | (_) | |____/ \__,_|_| |_|\__,_|_| |_|\__,_| |_| |_| |_| |_| \___/ Welcome to ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.7.3-sunxi System load: 0.74 Up time: 51 sec Memory usage: 6 % of 999Mb IP: 192.168.0.13 HDD temp: 36°C Usage of /: 90% of 1.5G storage/: 90% of 1.5G

  12. Hello, With a bananapi pro, which legacy image is better to use ? ubuntu xenial or debian jessie ? I intend to use it mainly as a server and occasionally to watch movie on a hdmi screen. I do not want to install a full desktop, I prefer to log through ssh and launch an X server remotely. Also, I need an mpv (mplayer) with acceleration enabled. thanks for your help Regards
  13. After latest update and reboot my Banana Pi Pro does not boot. The boot screen is showing but when it starts loading the kernel, the screen just turns dark and a blinking cursor in left upper corner just appears. What to do?
  14. Hello I install alsa-utils and mpc , mpd but have hum from the speakers. And when try use alsamixer get sudo alsamixer cannot open mixer: Invalid argument I use jack-audio not hdmi
  15. Hello! I recently started setting my board up, and came across all the information needed to enable the LCD use for it. For info, I've updated to 5.20. I have gone through the whole process to change the script.bin to fex, edit, change back, copy and sync. The changes are saved, I have even made a copy of the script.bin to script.fex in order to see if the new script contains the changes I made. All is there. It seems to be the problem another user had in this thread: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/841-bananapro-lemaker-5in-lcd-legacy-kernel/ In this case I chose the lcd_if=4 since it is what they provide at sunxi, but it didnt work. I then changed the value to lcd_if=0. SInce it didn't work I changed it to internal DSPI and then external after reading a bit about them. I'm a bit lost as to what to do. I hope I've made myself clear. All in all, thank you for your support. Great community!
  16. Tried on both 5.17 and 5.20, Debian and Ubuntu with legacy kernel. Debian has systemd 215, Ubuntu has 225 iirc. If I plug an iphone usbmuxd is started by systemd-udevd as directed by udev rule (stock one) and gets shut down when I unplug it, again how it's supposed to be. The problem is, it does not start if I plug any Apple device again. Restarting systemd-udevd service does not help at all, and when I reboot the board usbmuxd gets started when I plug iphone but again only once. 1st plug in/plug off in syslog: Sep 19 09:26:57 localhost kernel: [ 90.005422] ehci_irq: port change detect Sep 19 09:26:57 localhost kernel: [ 90.279798] usb 2-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using sw-ehci Sep 19 09:26:57 localhost systemd[1]: Started Socket daemon for the usbmux protocol used by Apple devices. 17. Hi, I own several SPI touch displays, and I would like to use them with armbian. I got the displays to work already, but I'm now trying to get the touchpanels to work also. I'm using Debian Jessie Server Legacy 5.20 with a BananaPro board. I tried to add the module to /etc/modules : ads7846_device gpio_pendown=17 cs=1 x_plate_ohms=400 pressure_max=255 swap_xy=0 ads7846 ... does not work, I don't even see an error in dmesg. I also tried to put the options in a /etc/modprobe.d/ads7846.conf, /etc/modprobe.d/ads7846_device.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/fbtft_device.conf but nothing works. Manual modprobe : modprobe ads7846 loads fine (I could see it in lsmod), but modprobe ads7846_device gpio_pendown=17 cs=1 x_plate_ohms=400 pressure_max=255 swap_xy=0 returns modprobe: FATAL: Module ads7846_device not found. Do you have an idea ? Thank you !

  20. I've try to upgrade my pi to newest version of the system yesterday, but FAILED for both apt-get upgrade or by download and write the newest image. Here is my working log: 1. apt-upgrade from armbian 5.14 image - error message indicate there's error during the apt-get update process - reboot, the boot screen shows no bootup message, than begin the TFTP startup process - wait until TFTP timeout, the system halt. 2. download and write the newest **Armbian_5.20_Bananapipro_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.3.7z** - can be startup with the boot screen, both power led and disk io led (green led) work as expected - system halt after a few second, the power led goes off - can power on the pi by long press the power button, but as same as the first boot, powered off a few seconds after power on - the message goes too fast, can't see what exact stage it reach Right now, I've to go back to the last working image (Armbian_5.14_Bananapipro_Ubuntu_xenial_4.6.2).
  21. Hello I am a new user of the armbian software. I installed the latest version of vanilla to armbian in the description of the material, I saw that the buscan was activated. I have a banana pi pro, I would like to know how to install the software for CAN bus. I read that can4linux was the driver to install. I read on this forum they've installed patches, but how do I installed a patch? Thank you for your help. PS: I speak French and I use a translator.
  22. Hello! I am working on a project that requires coss platform development. Optimally I wish to connect the B-Pro directly to my computer in order to access it from there. Is there any work on this available? I know the BeagleBone can do it for example, bt haven't found anything related to the Pro. Any Information would be inmensely useful and appreciated. Added to this, I want to know if any of you have had any experience with QT for the BPro as well. Thank you!

  24. Hi all, Creating a DietPi image for BPi Pro based on ARMbian. I finally got a chance to test do_expand_rootfs() from /etc/init.d/firstrun. Now works with multiple partitions, thanks for doing that Having an issue with the onboard WiFi on the BPi Pro (Lemaker). It appears to be enable, active and ready for use, however, I can not get it to scan/connect to a SSID, or even work in AP mode. Built the image using your excellent build tools: [ o.k. ] Building [ Armbian 5.17 Bananapipro Debian jessie default ] root@DietPi:~# iwlist wlan0 scan wlan0 No scan results Fails to set country code. Always returns 00.
  25. Hello, Is there any way to programmatically interact with HDMI on Banana Pi/Pro? Ideally I would like the following: Learn the current state of the HDMI monitor (and/or receive notifications): not connected, connected and turned off (in standby), connected and turned on. Turn off the HDMI monitor (put to standby). Turn on the HDMI monitor (exit standby). Thank you in advance!
