  1. I installed Armbian xenial 3.4.112 on an Orange Pi PC in July of 2016. It ran non-stop until sometime in February. I realized it was no longer sending data to the internet. When I checked, the Orange Pi PC was still powered. However, the green+yellow ethernet LEDs were both blinking together at what looked like 2sec intervals. After only a short time of running, the CPU was already 84C. When I originally had put the Orange Pi PC into service, it would remain close to 43C. I connected a monitor and keyboard. It booted and a look at syslog showed the eth0 was looping on `DHCPDISCOVER`. I tried `ifconfig etho down` and `ifconfig eth0 up` and not change. I tried a new SD card with the latest download image Armbian Xenial 3.4.113. No change in behavior. The Orange Pi PC was running but the eth0 would not. I replaced the Orange Pi PC with a new one and tested both the new SD image and the old SD image worked fine. I put the new Orange Pi PC back into service. It lasted two months before the same result with the ethernet Any ideas what I may be doing that is killing the boards? What should I monitor with the latest board? I still have the two failed boards. Is there anything I should look at on them?
  2. Just to inform interested people. I tested mainline nightly release. Monitor switches on shortly without something visible and than goes off with "no signal". Dmesg shows: root@orangepipc:~# dmesg|grep frame [ 3.251293] simple-framebuffer 7e05c000.framebuffer: framebuffer at 0x7e05c000, 0x1fa4000 bytes, mapped to 0xf1c80000 [ 3.251303] simple-framebuffer 7e05c000.framebuffer: format=x8r8g8b8, mode=3840x2160x32, linelength=15360 [ 3.401661] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 480x135 [ 3.550976] simple-framebuffer 7e05c000.framebuffer: fb0: simplefb registered! fbset shows: root@orangepipc:~# fbset mode "3840x2160" geometry 3840 2160 3840 2160 32 timings 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 rgba 8/16,8/8,8/0,0/0 endmode Legacy works so far, even with 3840x2160 but does not seem to be accelerated out of the box.
  3. I would install mate on orange pi pc more starting from the server version. someone tell me step by step how to do. Thank you.
  4. Hi, I am trying to install drivers for this Chinese ATSC device on my Orange PC board and I do not know where to start. Sure thing, this receiver works nice on my Android phones and tablets but I do not really know which chip it's using and which Linux driver is the right one. lsusb will give me this: user@orangepipc:~$ lsusb Bus 008 Device 002: ID 0461:4d8a Primax Electronics, Ltd Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 3344:2490 Leaguer Microelectronics (LME) Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. 5. I just bought an orange pi pc and i want to hook it up to an old pc monitor i had laying around. The monitor requires 60 Hz and a resolution of 1024x1280, it uses a vga port. Is there any way to get this to work? Regards AcidWizard
  6. Hi, I trying to record transport stream from USB DVB-T card, but I have some problem with dvbstream. Card work well with mumudvb. Currently I'm using Armbian Ubuntu Xenial on H3 (Orange Pi PC), unfortunately dvbstream (installed from repository) don't want to lock fronted to desire frequency, while dvbtune (0.5.ds-1) (installed from the same repository ) work fine. In this case I downloaded dvbtune (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/dvbtune_0.5.ds.orig.tar.gz) from source, but after compile not want to work. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? why dvbtune not work after compilation? Thank You.
  7. Hi All, I have attached an ASUS Xonar Essence One at usb-sunxi-ehci-1, high speed : USB Audio to OrangePi PC. when I use alsa to play sound, the system cannot attain the correct sample rate. After system is booted, the sampling rate is 192000. Now experiment starts Here is the information from /proc/asound/card2/stream0, when nothing is played. Then I "play" 44100 Hz via alsa, by "cat /dev/urandom | aplay -D hw:2,0 -f S16_LE -c2 -r44100". Here is the result It plays at 48000Hz. If I play at 44100 Hz again it will be correct. If I let it play at 192000Hz after 44100Hz by typing "cat /dev/urandom | aplay -D hw:2,0 -f S16_LE -c2 -r192000", the sampling problem happens again There might be a solution here https://github.com/mopidy/mopidy/issues/613 But it is for raspberry Pi. I do not know how to add dwc_otg.fiq_fix_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_split_enable=0 to /boot/cmdline.txt. Many thanks for your help.
  8. Received a batch of OPi PCs and one is not booting. In serial console I get only: U-Boot SPL 2016.09 (Oct 15 2016 - 14:20:45) DRAM: 1024 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 And that's all. What's wrong with it? SD card and PSU verified working with another OPi devices.

  10. I have an ADC and DAC board built for Raspberry Pi which has 2 slaves on the SPI bus, requiring ce0 and ce1. This works fine on the Raspberry pi 3, which installs devices /dev/spidev0.0 and also /dev/spidev/0.1, to access each slave. On the OPi PC I can access slave 0, but not slave 1. In /dev on the Opi there is only a single spidev device: /dev/spidev0.0 and no spidev0.1 device. I have modified the script.bin (I am using Armbian legacy OS - Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop) by editing the .fex (and making a new script.bin) to add a spi_cs1 = port:PC07<3><default><default><default> line. But adding this prevents any spidev device from loading, even spidev0.0 is now missing. I have tried many variations to add a spi_cs1 connection in the fex file, but nothing works. the OPi pinout description includes SPI-CE1 (header pin 26) but how can i make this active? How can I make the spi system on the OPi PC work with 2 slave devices on the bus as the rasberry pi does easily? Is this an issue with the armbian OS, the fex file configuration, or a hardware issue with the OPi PC. I read that there is an issue with SPI on the OPi One - but does this problem with NAND access also affect the OPi PC?

  12. To replace my dead home server (which was just a dead laptop anyway), I picked up an Orange Pi PC for cheap locally. After solving power supply issues, I tested GUI and media performance on the board, with an aim to perhaps use the composite out for emulation, before concluding that this wasn't the best choice for the board. (That, and it'd kill my performance for the more useful server aspects.) While technically impressive, it wasn't really worth it when my PC is right there for me to use to play those video files I would on the board. Looking into the matter, it seems the ideal solution for a file server would be to install the Mainline kernel to benefit from USB/UAS. It seems like it's not an uncommon thing with Armbian, but the details about thermal throttling and Ethernet issues have me wary. I did get a heatsink for the board for protection, but...well, how much of a practical risk is running Mainline? What issues would I have to deal with regarding Ethernet support or thermal throttling? Is the increase in performance really worth the trouble, or should I stick with the Legacy kernel just to be safe?
  13. How to connect the mcp251x driver on the OrangePI PC? I make new kernel (Debian 8.7 (jessie)) with can-bus modules and mcp251x module. Has connected MCP2515 according to the following scheme.   16. Hi, for my project I need to stream a video from IP camera and add some text from sensors into the final video. From armbian console I have installed ffmpeg (apt-get install ffmpeg).. The program works except the text is not included into streamed video: Example: ffserver.conf HTTPPort 8090 HTTPBindAddress 0.0.0.0 MaxHTTPConnections 2000 MaxClients 1000 MaxBandwidth 10000 CustomLog - <Feed monitoring1.ffm> File /tmp/monitoring1.ffm FileMaxSize 50M ACL allow 127.0.0.1 ACL allow 192.168.0.0 192.168.255.255 </Feed> <Stream monitoring1.mjpg> Feed monitoring1.ffm Format mpjpeg VideoCodec mjpeg VideoFrameRate 22 VideoBufferSize 80 VideoSize 720x264 NoAudio </Stream> # Redirect index.html to the appropriate site <Redirect index.html> URL http://www.ffmpeg.org/ </Redirect> Then I start a simple example as: ffmpeg -i rtsp://mpv.cdn3.bigCDN.com:554/bigCDN/definst/mp4:bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4 -vf drawtext="fontfile=/home/projekt/StreamTest/DejaVuSans.ttf: \ text='TEST TEST': fontcolor=white: fontsize=36: box=1: boxcolor=black@0.5: \ boxborderw=5: x=(w-text_w)/2: y=(h-text_h)/2" -codec:a copy http://localhost:8090/monitoring1.ffm In Armbian console I get: root@orangepipc:/home/projekt/StreamTest# ./test.sh ffmpeg version 3.2.2-1~bpo8+1 Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 4.9.2 (Debian 4.9.2-10) configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version='1~bpo8+1' --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf --incdir=/usr/include/arm-linux-gnueabihf --enable-gpl --disable-stripping --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --disable-libebur128 --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librubberband --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzmq --enable-libzvbi --enable-omx --enable-openal --enable-opengl --enable-sdl2 --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libopencv --enable-frei0r --enable-libx264 --enable-chromaprint --enable-shared libavutil 55. 34.100 / 55. 34.100 libavcodec 57. 64.101 / 57. 64.101 libavformat 57. 56.100 / 57. 56.100 libavdevice 57. 1.100 / 57. 1.100 libavfilter 6. 65.100 / 6. 65.100 libavresample 3. 1. 0 / 3. 1. 0 libswscale 4. 2.100 / 4. 2.100 libswresample 2. 3.100 / 2. 3.100 libpostproc 54. 1.100 / 54. 1.100 [rtsp @ 0xb7a0a280] UDP timeout, retrying with TCP Input #0, rtsp, from 'rtsp://mpv.cdn3.bigCDN.com:554/bigCDN/definst/mp4:bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4': Metadata: title : http/9aaa4066-cs.mi-cdn.io/streaming/streams/flash/bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4 Duration: 00:09:56.46, start: 0.000000, bitrate: N/A Stream #0:0: Audio: aac (LC), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp Stream #0:1: Video: h264 (Constrained Baseline), yuv420p(progressive), 320x180, 24 tbr, 90k tbn, 180k tbc [tcp @ 0xb7a11ca0] Connection to tcp://localhost:8090 failed (Connection refused), trying next address Last message repeated 1 times [swscaler @ 0xb7a61d10] deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set range correctly Output #0, ffm, to 'http://localhost:8090/monitoring1.ffm': Metadata: title : http/9aaa4066-cs.mi-cdn.io/streaming/streams/flash/bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4 creation_time : now encoder : Lavf57.56.100 Stream #0:0: Video: mjpeg, yuvj420p(pc), 720x264, q=2-31, 64 kb/s, 24 fps, 1000k tbn, 22 tbc Metadata: encoder : Lavc57.64.101 mjpeg Side data: cpb: bitrate max/min/avg: 128000/0/64000 buffer size: 655360 vbv_delay: -1 Stream mapping: Stream #0:1 -> #0:0 (h264 (native) -> mjpeg (native)) Press [q] to stop, [?] for help [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflowkB time=00:00:00.77 bitrate= 720.9kbits/s dup=0 drop=1 speed=1.51x Last message repeated 8 times [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflowkB time=00:00:01.27 bitrate= 720.9kbits/s dup=0 drop=2 speed=1.24x Last message repeated 6 times Past duration 0.719322 too large [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflow Past duration 0.795326 too large [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflow Past duration 0.893318 too large [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflow Last message repeated 1 times [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflowkB time=00:00:01.77 bitrate= 739.4kbits/s dup=0 drop=3 speed=1.15x Last message repeated 8 times [mjpeg @ 0xb7b0f760] rc buffer underflowkB time=00:00:02.18 bitrate= 750.9kbits/s dup=0 drop=3 speed=1.06x Last message repeated 3 times frame= 53 fps= 23 q=31.4 Lsize= 224kB time=00:00:02.36 bitrate= 776.3kbits/s dup=0 drop=4 speed=1.04x video:217kB audio:0kB subtitle:0kB other streams:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead: 3.163595% Exiting normally, received signal 2. root@orangepipc:/home/projekt/StreamTest# This is the result of "streamed" video but without embedded text 'TEST TEST' Does anyone know what could be wrong? or how to get latest version of Ffmpeg?
  17. Hi, I have a project to do and this consists of: Arduino board which work as frequency counter and OrangePi PC which will be some kind of server (mysql, python). The idea is to use UART port to communicate (send / recevie) datas from arduino to OrangePi using C, Java or python.. Here is my schema using LLC (converter between arduino and orangePC) (hope this will work ) Is there some example in C, python or java on how to use GPIO UART pin 8/10 on orangepi as serial port? For now I have installed library from: https://github.com/zhaolei/WiringOP and second for python from: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3
  18. I remember there where a problem before, shutdown leads to reboot. But now it's the opposite - reboot leads to shutdown. Both gui button or: sudo reboot reboot sudo shutdown -r now sudo init 6 from terminal, or ssh, behave the same. This is on Armbian_5.25_Orangepipc_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop / Armbian_5.25_Orangepione_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113, from download section and self built.

  20. Hi it seems it was following an update. It doesn't bother me in fact the new one had already been used probably with another distribution. But I wonder where are they stored ? or how are they guessed before : E6:7C:8E:9F:AC:D0 now : 7E:C3:14:57:E7:B1
  21. What's the current status of the mainline kernel? What kind of practical restrictions are there? I've seen on the Sunxi wiki that Ethernet is still WIP. So no Ethernet? I use my Orangepi PC as a "NAS/media server/download server".
  22. Hi all, my orange pi pc ran into a bootloop after upgrading to 5.25... 24. I'd like to use Orange Pi PC as a HID keyboard USB gadget/USB device. There is a tutorial on link here but it makes Orange Pi into a serial device. I want a HID device (keyboard).
  25. The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.
