Wazou Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Hi, I've recently acquired some nanoPi M1, and just about now installed ARMBIAN. However I can't seem to get any sound working via 3.5 analog jack. Volume is set right on alsamixer Speaker are working and volume is set at max Soundcard is listed but yet I have absolutely no sound ... any ideas ? root@user:~# aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: audiocodec [audiocodec], device 0: SUNXI-CODEC sndcodec-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: sndhdmi [sndhdmi], device 0: SUNXI-HDMIAUDIO sndhdmi-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 root@user:~# cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [audiocodec ]: audiocodec - audiocodec audiocodec 1 [sndhdmi ]: sndhdmi - sndhdmi sndhdmi root@user:~# aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
Da Alchemist Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 You are probably using the wrong card as default. Check your .asound.conf sudo nano /etc/asound.conf and change hw 1 to hw 0. Regards
wildcat_paris Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I assume you are using legacy kernel, I have the same issue. asoc: sndcodec <-> sunxi-codec mapping ok [ 1.622219] [DAUDIO]sunxi-daudio cannot find any using configuration for controllers, return directly! [ 1.622593] [I2S]snddaudio cannot find any using configuration for controllers, return directly! [ 1.622624] [DAUDIO0] driver not init, just return. wildcat_paris Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 hdmi sound works with$ aplay -D hw:1,0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/* but nope with hw:0,0
tkaiser Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 3.5 analog jack There is no such thing. It's a combined TRRS jack providing audio and TV-OUT. Several different pinouts exist: http://linux-sunxi.org/LeMaker_Banana_Pro#Combined_Audio.2BVideo 1

Ford Prefect Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Hi, I've recently acquired some nanoPi M1 Hi It looks as an interesting alternative to the orange PI one http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=109
tkaiser Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 It looks as an interesting alternative to the orange PI one http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=109 Regarding available connectors it's more like OPi PC, size of DRAM is your choice and you should keep in mind that NanoPi M1 uses the more primitive voltage regulator known from One/Lite and unfortunately shows also strange overheating behaviour compared to the various Oranges (almost as bad as the worst H3 device in this area: BPi M2+). But fortunately FriendlyARM just recently reduced shipping costs from $10 to $5 http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1015-nanopi-m1/ (info that's missing there is that you can power the board also through the 4 pin header next to the 40 pin GPIO header) 1
Ford Prefect Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Thanks for the link I missed it . Yes that is mainly the connectors that I like. Having most of them ,RJ45,HDMI,USB on the same side of the board simplifies the design of a decent box. Cooling of the CPU is another drawback of most of those boards. IMHO it would be much easier if the CPU was on the other side of the board.
vr@m Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 (edited) Good night, I have the sound problem but with hdmi audio, de default is the 3.5 mm audio jack, then I looked for the asound.conf in /etc, then I found that this file doesn't exist and after that I've created it with the following content: pcm.!default { type hw card 1 device 0 } ctl.!default { type hw card 1 } the problem is that even created this way the sound output still being the 3.5 mm jack and I don't know if I need to change some setting to mpv player to output the sound through hdmi. What else can I do to change the sound from audio jack to hdmi? Edited October 21, 2017 by vr@m forgot to write something
