ArmBoy1988
I've set up 23.02 Debian Bullseye CLI on my Orange Pi 5. I believe I read 23.05 is coming out soon. Would I just do an apt update and then apt upgrade to make the change? I'm at the point where I could just re-install and start with 23.05 but what would I do in the future for new updates? Thanks.

foxx1337
European mirrors still don't seem to offer anything on top of 23.0.2, or maybe manually editing sources around /etc/apt is the way, but then all proposed packages still appear as being testing versions. Check - it will take a while for packages to distribute through the mirrors. Edited June 10, 2023 by foxx1337

krrmbn
I am a big fan of Armbian software. I've got 4 SBC running their stuff. Strangely, 1 of the 4 was able to update to 23.05, and the other three weren't able. I have confirmed that armbian-config is neither set to freeze, nor is the 23.05 showing up as an available kernel. Of course I have done the standard upgrade and update commands. Also, strangely, on the 1 that was able to upgrade, I am no longer able to change kernel via armbian-config. I look forward to the re-released 23.05 when the Armbian team has it ready.
krrmbn
I don't mean to be a pain, but I am curious what is the new eta for 23.05 upgrade via CLI as opposed to re-flash (which I understand has been available since early June). Thank you again for all of your great efforts, they are really very much appreciated! Any time someone asks what OS they should install on their Orange Pi 3 LTS, I always suggest Armbian!

I'm running CLI Armbian (aarch64) on an Odroid C2 and it's long been rock solid stable. I appear to have the same issue as krrmbu: I can't seem to get 23.05 Stable for my setup. I've always used Stable versions, however sometime earlier this year a standard firmware upgrade (effected via ambian-config) shifted my system from Stable to 23.02.2 Nightly. I've been seeing the "No end-user support: untested automated build" message on my logon screen ever since. My armbian-config / System settings say I'm on Stable builds. I tried switching to Nightly and back to Stable, but that did nothing (cf. simbanono's report above). Now, interestingly, a few days ago when effecting another firmware upgrade (I was hoping to get 23.05 Stable) I got armbian-config 23.08.0 from trunk: ~# apt-cache policy armbian-config armbian-config: Installed: 23.08.0-trunk--1-SA9048-Baeda Candidate: 23.08.0-trunk--1-SA9048-Baeda Version table: *** 23.08.0-trunk--1-SA9048-Baeda 500 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main arm64 Packages 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main armhf Packages 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main all Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 23.02.2 500 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main arm64 Packages 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main armhf Packages 500 http://apt.armbian.com bullseye/main all Packages Yet, my logon screen still shows 23.02.2 Nightly and the "No end-user support" message. Not a big problem, as my system still runs fine, but would appreciate a quick explanation from someone in the know. Thanks in advance.

Patrick Zajda
I asked on Discord and there is some package which arrived to stable by mistake durring a repo sync but it should be harmless as trunk is also well tested. I made the update as patience is not really one of my best known qualities lol and I encountered no issue.

OK - I now understand that the 23.05 Armbian release for my arm64 hardware may be skipped altogether, in favour of a 23.08 release. So, I am placing my hopes on seeing an upgrade from the current 23.08 trunk to 23.08 stable on my system sometime soon. And then, at some point, upgrade from Bullseye to Bookworm as Patrick Zajda has already done I see Patrick is on an N2+, but I'm guessing the upgrading processes for Odroid C2 and N2+ are similar, if not identical. krrmbn
from July 29, 2023: https://www.armbian.com/newsflash/armbian-leaflet-10/ Quote The developers’ section has been particularly active lately. We are in the final stages of upgrading u-boot and implementing power management support for the entire Allwinner family. Additionally, we are continuously improving our automated testing procedures, which involve testing all possible kernel combinations for around 50 different boards. Once these tests are completed, we will finally release the missing 23.05 release updates and more on the stable branch, fulfilling the requests of many users. However, for those who can’t wait, building from sources remains a viable option. Rest assured, we are diligently maintaining the build system to ensure its reliability. Moreover, our development team is actively working on projects such as Radxa CM5, NanoPC T6, Nanopi R4SE, Mixtile Blade 3 and more. I added the bold to highlight the key text.

Alongside with fixes on HW side. Then whole system stabilisation has to begun ... How you can help? Providing status of any board labelled as supported, that is not covered with our automated testings, helps: https://github.com/armbian/os#latest-smoke-tests-results This testing is primitive, so manual checking also helps. If there is a bug, open a ticket: https://www.armbian.com/participate/ If you can, fix it, sent a PR. Few people that contribute to Armbian anyway can't fix all bugs found in open source software.

Patrick Zajda
Same with my Odroid N2+ yesterday, now upgraded to 23.08.
