I assume it is some debugging left-over. Dealing with sbc families and sunxi in particular it is a ongoing fight against regressions and having a debug kernel can help to identify such. It is not ideal having this on end-user sbcs enabled but to limit resources we cannot afford having two current branches with and without debugging.

Thank you for the explanation

Thank you.

I found that libllvmspirvlb 19 is only available in trixie... can you confirm?

In bookworm, I needed to replace llvm-18-dev libclang-18-dev libllvmspirvlib-18-dev with llvm-19-dev libclang-19-dev libllvmspirvlib-15-dev

But tomorrow I will try again with trixie

yes, thats it... you need to instal libllvmspirvlib-19-dev though

about kodi... it worked? altough im getting the same artifacs on some videos, its stable and with hw decode on internal player, because the ffmpeg provided by the v4l2 repo is 6.11 had to compile version 21.2 omega gbm platform without internal ffmpeg, then go to video player settings and activate DRM

you need to install jdk11 and select with "sudo update-alternatives --config java"

to compile run cmake with the options

-DCORE_PLATFORM_NAME=gbm -DAPP_RENDER_SYSTEM=gles -DENABLE_INTERNAL_FFMPEG=OFF -DWITH_FFMPEG=/usr/bin/ffmpeg

you should see cmake telling you that ffmpeg version check was disabled and externally selected

After installed you need to launch from a tty

gonna keep testing... the ss bellow is from one episode that i wasnt being able to watch

Quote

Those gliches seems to be only happening with low resolution videos...

screenshot00000.png

screenshot00001.png

screenshot00002.png

soo tested it some more, its working great, when it works, but appart from those artifacts it is buggy with some others videos and it wont play:

screenshot00004.thumb.png.a2dfc32f6c0c5d217a869802062508a4.png

i'm testing with online streams also i dont have any movies stored, and this also happens with sw decode on x11 platform btw...

i finally got inputstream.adaptative to compile (if you compile the same version of available kodi on apt you dont have to do this, will be able to just use inputstream from apt, though kodi versions higher than omega requires ffmpeg 7+) and testing with 1080p 60fps

Quote

60fps with PRIME render method set to direct to plane, low cpu usage, video seems smooth but it glitches constantly like a frame drop where it goes back some frames (fps is 12 but it is wrong, video is glitching) and ss is black for some reason)

The entire system crashes when I press stop.
screenshot00012.thumb.png.e16d7d6a11de6c3d1bdf71b211b3b5af.png

with render method to EGL, smooth 60fps with a bit higher (it goes up to 80%)  cpu usage

It says hardware decode and with kodi from apt im not able to get 1080 60fps smooth so I assume it's working?

Definitely better than mpv 👌

Thank you for the information :) I have completed the build dependencies step, for mesa 25.2, in Debian Trixie.

However, when I build it, my orange pi zero 3 with 1 GB or RAM, it runs out of memory... even when I make a swap file of 2GB.

I keep rebooting the opiz3, and continue the compilation job. Is this normal?

In the raspberry forum, they told me that my LCD driver panel-mipi-dbi.ko doesn't work with X11... so I give up on this, and continue my development with labwc/wayland (easily installed in Trixie)

Yep, I’ve been testing the 1.5GB version with Armbian. Images are still rough—some issues with AdGuard Home not starting properly after reboot, and a few quirks with networking. Promising board though, especially for the price.

What the hell is kernel 6.16 ( linux-image-edge-sunxi64 (25.8.1)  )?

Never seen it in git main , no all overlays ,  who did it?

After upgrade, no wifi .

Revert to 6.15. The 6.16 package is useful for A523 only atm.

Don't use bleeding edge and complain about things breaking the same time.

Why not test it in a github branch , but release into public directly without any comment and test?

MOD: Your attitude of taking but not contributing and being abrasive is not welcome here.  You received a warning now and will be unable to post to this forum for a few days.  You were warned by several people many times before.  If you still don't get the message and do not change course, expect to be blocked completely from Armbian.

Latest armbian update 25.11 trunk 45 also breaks boot...

If you used edge, revert to 6.15

Posted

If I run a update after changing kernel to edge it doesn't matter the version, it breaks boot, idk why, but it is installing dtb for kernel 6.16 even with kernel 6.13 or 14 installed, current kernel does not support analog audio out of the box and I managed to get it working a few times, so I'm stuck with edge kernel, did a update then changed to edge kernel and disabled armbian updates until this bug is fixed

Posted

hdmi audio doesn't work with the latest linux kernel 6.16.8 (edge). OS: Armbian Bookworm, latest build (v26.2.0-trunk.32).

revert to 6.15.4 helps.

Test Output (aplay -l):

Kernel 6.16.8 (BROKEN):

card 0: Codec [H616 Audio Codec], device 0: CDC PCM Codec-0 [CDC PCM Codec-0]

Kernel 6.15.4 (WORKING):

card 0: Codec [H616 Audio Codec], device 0: CDC PCM Codec-0 [CDC PCM Codec-0]

card 1: HDMI [HDMI], device 0: ahub_plat-i2s-hifi i2s-hifi-0 [ahub_plat-i2s-hifi i2s-hifi-0]

P.S. I am using the edge kernel branch because support for the analog audio jack on H616/H618 requires kernel 6.13 or newer. Currently, kernel 6.15.4 is the latest working version that provides both analog and HDMI audio.

I know of a way to install a specific kernel version:

sudo apt install linux-image-edge-sunxi64=25.5.1  --> installs linux 6.14.8

But how do you install specifically linux 6.15.4?

Also, have you checked if the newest linux version requires a dtbo to be activated in armbian-config?

If you still can: compare the output of lsmod under 6.15.4 and under 6.16.8

In the working kernel 6.15.4, the following audio-related modules are loaded:
snd_soc_sunxi_machine, snd_soc_sunxi_ahub, snd_soc_sunxi_ahub_dam

In the broken kernel 6.16.8, these three modules are completely missing. Only the generic snd_soc_hdmi_codec is present, but it doesn't seem to bind to the hardware correctly without the sunxi-specific modules.
