markonmoto2 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Maybe you must install armbianmonitor (armbianmonitor -r if i remember it right) oraz just type armbianmonitor or armbianmonitor -h (it should display help)Wysłane z mojego 2014811 przy użyciu Tapatalka
tristan Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Hey Markonmoto2, thanks for the suggestion, but I mean that the entire armbianmonitor command is not present. I've got the most recent image build linked from the nanopi neo 2 wiki, so I'm not sure what the issue is. http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_NEO2#Make_an_Installation_TF_Card

tristan Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Ohhhh. I thought the friendlyelec images was the armbian image... I'll try the actual armbian image and see if my problems vanish. Thanks!
tkaiser Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 16 minutes ago, tristan said: I thought the friendlyelec images was the armbian image Nope. I wasted some of my time trying to convince them to base their work on Armbian's build system but to no avail. Weidong decided to better fork mainline kernel, focus on 4.11 and rely on 'port and forget' coding style: http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/Mainline_U-boot_%26_Linux/zh And their current OS images for NanoPi Neo 2 are based on crappy Allwinner BSP anyway (BSP is the code name for 'ugly build scripts combined with horribly outdated and totally insecure kernel sources')
Stanislav Sinyagin Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Got my Neo2, playing some early tests. The plastic enclosure is unfortunately useless: it's 3D printed, and it doesn't fixate the heatsink. Also I broke the enclosure while trying to insert the board. Fresh Armbian booted fine, and with a WiFi dongle, it's much more stable than OPI0 (OPI0 hanging up after less than an hour). What I noticed, is that it doesn't come up after a reboot, and needs a power cycle. here I wrote a short summary: https://txlab.wordpress.com/2017/04/16/friendlyelec-nanopi-neo2-a-better-sub-20-linux-computer/

Please be careful with such (wrong) conclusions, better try not to do 'reviews' based on nightly images and also try to be a bit more precise when you post about stuff (for OPi Zero you mixed legacy and mainline kernel and again: nightly images are for testing and reporting back in a constructive way to developers and distro maintainers and not for productive use or even basing 'reviews' on it). I used my OPi Zero for days with a Ralink dongle in 5Ghz band and of course everything worked perfectly (using legacy kernel, my last tries with nightly builds weren't that great). Why should Linux fail with such a setup? It's either crappy drivers or what's more likely: power or SD card issues (and using 'same cables' doesn't help here since contact resistance might be different and consumption behaviour due to different settings). Unfortunately all those small boards use Micro USB for powering but they also allow to be powered through GPIO pins which is the first thing that should be done in case 'stability' seems to be a problem (for obvious reasons!). 1
reverend_t Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 There's nothing unstable about the OPi0 on Armbian stable, at all 1
rodolfo Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) I'm just testing NANOPI NEO2 use as firewall/jumpstation. Network performance of Nanopi Neo2 with latest nightly Armbian is very pleasing. Testing setup : - NEO2, SDcard SANDISK 8Gb/Class10, RT8188EU Wifi-Dongle on USB-port, powered via MicroUSB from 5v/3A IKEA charger - NEO2, SDcard SANDISK 8Gb/Class10, RT8153 GLAN-Dongle on USB-port, powered via 5V/GND UART-connector from 5v/3A IKEA charger - Direct GLAN-link between NEOs - Uplink to EXTERNAL GLAN via rt8153 - Uplink to WLAN Router via RT8188EU . Results : Direct link NEO2 to NEO2 via onboard RJ45 ( simulating 10 concurrent connections on GLAN ). No optimizations were done, just stock Armbian from nightly build. Power consumption idled at 300mA and reached 500mA (dual LAN) and 600mA (LAN+WiFi, but mainly due to silly microUSB power ) during full blast data transfers. Simple heatsinks ( 14x14 mm, not the original monsters with the silicon 'heating pad' ) were used on both boards to keep temperatures below 70. I am very pleased with the results, especially the combination of onboard GLAN ( private network ) and USB-LAN dongle ( external uplink, WAN ). With some simple firewall rules you've got a mighty little firewall/jumpstation. Next will be the addition of low-power fast msata-SSDs via USB headers for a tiny luxury NAS. Keep up the fun ! Update : Same old story but battery-buffered ( homebrew dual-18650 LIPO pass-through charging ...) Stable operation while plugging/unplugging during data transfers. More fun to come..... Edited April 25, 2017 by rodolfo added battery-buffered operation 1

Can you please provide output from /proc/interrupts after running such a GbE test on a NEO 2 with both onboard NIC and RTL8153? Reason: I tried few days ago to add IRQ redistribution to H5 boards but wonder how that works (can't test myself currrently). So you would really need recent nightly (2 days ago since this commit)

So you would really need recent nightly (2 days ago since this commit) I just did a short upgrade/update/reboot on the NEO2 boards to make sure they run the latest builds and then did some short test with requested output Spoiler | \ | | __ _ _ __ ___ | _ \(_) | \ | | ___ ___ |___ \ | \| |/ _` | '_ \ / _ \| |_) | | | \| |/ _ \/ _ \ __) | | |\ | (_| | | | | (_) | __/| | | |\ | __/ (_) | / __/ |_| \_|\__,_|_| |_|\___/|_| |_| |_| \_|\___|\___/ |_____| Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.27.170426 nightly Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 4.10.0-sun50iw2 System load: 0.21 0.11 0.04 Up time: 1 min Memory usage: 6 % of 483MB IP: 192.168.3.181,192.168.2.234 CPU temp: 58°C Usage of /: 25% of 7.2G [ General system configuration: armbian-config ] Last login: Tue Apr 25 07:43:15 2017 from 192.168.2.26 pi@neo2_181:~$ uname -a Linux neo2_181 4.10.0-sun50iw2 #3 SMP Tue Apr 25 03:48:23 CEST 2017 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux pi@neo2_181:~$ cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 CPU2 CPU3 2: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 29 Level arch_timer 3: 8210 2398 2314 5307 GICv2 30 Level arch_timer 6: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 82 Level 1c02000.dma-controller 7: 6146 0 0 0 GICv2 92 Level sunxi-mmc 8: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 106 Level ehci_hcd:usb1 9: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 107 Level ohci_hcd:usb4 10: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 108 Level ehci_hcd:usb2 11: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 109 Level ohci_hcd:usb5 12: 5144 0 0 0 GICv2 110 Level ehci_hcd:usb3 13: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 111 Level ohci_hcd:usb6 18: 4 0 0 0 GICv2 97 Level sun6i-spi 21: 272 0 0 0 GICv2 63 Level 1c25000.ths 22: 415 0 0 0 GICv2 32 Level serial 23: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 72 Level 1f00000.rtc 26: 2 0 0 0 GICv2 76 Level mv64xxx_i2c 28: 13 0 0 0 GICv2 114 Level 1c30000.ethernet 32: 1 0 0 0 sunxi_pio_edge 3 Edge sw4 99: 0 0 0 0 sunxi_pio_edge 38 Edge 1c0f000.mmc cd IPI0: 2834 2993 2261 2420 Rescheduling interrupts IPI1: 82 87 93 23 Function call interrupts IPI2: 0 0 0 0 CPU stop interrupts IPI3: 0 0 0 0 Timer broadcast interrupts IPI4: 0 0 0 0 IRQ work interrupts IPI5: 0 0 0 0 CPU wake-up interrupts Err: 0 pi@neo2_181:~$ iperf3 -c 192.168.3.182 -P10 Connecting to host 192.168.3.182, port 5201 [ 4] local 192.168.3.181 port 58078 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 6] local 192.168.3.181 port 58080 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 8] local 192.168.3.181 port 58082 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 10] local 192.168.3.181 port 58084 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 12] local 192.168.3.181 port 58086 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 14] local 192.168.3.181 port 58088 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 16] local 192.168.3.181 port 58090 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 18] local 192.168.3.181 port 58092 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 20] local 192.168.3.181 port 58094 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ 22] local 192.168.3.181 port 58096 connected to 192.168.3.182 port 5201 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth Retr Cwnd [ 4] 0.00-1.00 sec 10.2 MBytes 85.9 Mbits/sec 0 144 KBytes [ 6] 0.00-1.00 sec 14.3 MBytes 120 Mbits/sec 0 209 KBytes [ 8] 0.00-1.00 sec 13.4 MBytes 112 Mbits/sec 0 181 KBytes [ 10] 0.00-1.00 sec 11.0 MBytes 92.5 Mbits/sec 0 150 KBytes [ 12] 0.00-1.00 sec 13.6 MBytes 114 Mbits/sec 0 164 KBytes [ 14] 0.00-1.00 sec 7.02 MBytes 58.9 Mbits/sec 0 110 KBytes [ 16] 0.00-1.00 sec 11.7 MBytes 97.9 Mbits/sec 0 150 KBytes [ 18] 0.00-1.00 sec 11.8 MBytes 98.9 Mbits/sec 0 168 KBytes [ 20] 0.00-1.00 sec 7.06 MBytes 59.2 Mbits/sec 0 107 KBytes [ 22] 0.00-1.00 sec 9.03 MBytes 75.8 Mbits/sec 0 130 KBytes [SUM] 0.00-1.00 sec 109 MBytes 915 Mbits/sec 0 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - /////////////////////edit:cut///////////////////////////// /////////////////////edit:cut///////////////////////////// [SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 1.04 GBytes 893 Mbits/sec 0 sender [SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 1.02 GBytes 877 Mbits/sec receiver iperf Done. pi@neo2_181:~$ cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 CPU2 CPU3 2: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 29 Level arch_timer 3: 13039 2741 2452 5869 GICv2 30 Level arch_timer 6: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 82 Level 1c02000.dma-controller 7: 6151 0 0 0 GICv2 92 Level sunxi-mmc 8: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 106 Level ehci_hcd:usb1 9: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 107 Level ohci_hcd:usb4 10: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 108 Level ehci_hcd:usb2 11: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 109 Level ohci_hcd:usb5 12: 7136 0 0 0 GICv2 110 Level ehci_hcd:usb3 13: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 111 Level ohci_hcd:usb6 18: 4 0 0 0 GICv2 97 Level sun6i-spi 21: 371 0 0 0 GICv2 63 Level 1c25000.ths 22: 415 0 0 0 GICv2 32 Level serial 23: 0 0 0 0 GICv2 72 Level 1f00000.rtc 26: 2 0 0 0 GICv2 76 Level mv64xxx_i2c 28: 56039 0 0 0 GICv2 114 Level 1c30000.ethernet 32: 1 0 0 0 sunxi_pio_edge 3 Edge sw4 99: 0 0 0 0 sunxi_pio_edge 38 Edge 1c0f000.mmc cd IPI0: 2886 4594 3078 2942 Rescheduling interrupts IPI1: 82 87 93 23 Function call interrupts IPI2: 0 0 0 0 CPU stop interrupts IPI3: 0 0 0 0 Timer broadcast interrupts IPI4: 0 0 0 0 IRQ work interrupts IPI5: 0 0 0 0 CPU wake-up interrupts Err: 0 pi@neo2_181:~$ pi@neo2_181:~$ for ((i=0;i<10;i++)) do iperf3 -c 192.168.3.182; hitech95 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, I just received the NanoPi Neo 2, small, pretty.I downloaded the compilation tools and I created a debian jessie image, configured and installed all the needed packages. Than I've noticed something strange: the energy consumption is much higher again to the standard ubuntu firmware 2x. I tried to investigate but after fiew minutes i stopped. Than I'm going to configure the led: with my surprise the LEDs are named as orangepi:red:status ... I do a check on the DTs and find out that the wrong DTS has loaded. root@nanopineo2:~# cat /sys/class/leds/orangepi\: orangepi:green:pwr/ orangepi:red:status/ root@nanopineo2:~# cat /sys/class/leds/orangepi\:red\:status/ brightness max_brightness subsystem/ uevent device/ power/ trigger root@nanopineo2:~# cat /sys/class/leds/orangepi\:red\:status/trigger [none] kbd-scrolllock kbd-numlock kbd-capslock kbd-kanalock kbd-shiftlock kbd-altgrlock kbd-ctrllock kbd-altlock kbd-shiftllock kbd-shiftrlock kbd-ctrlllock kbd-ctrlrlock usbport usb-gadget usb-host mmc0 heartbeat cpu0 cpu1 cpu2 cpu3 rc-feedback 1c30000.ethernet-0:00:1Gbps 1c30000.ethernet-0:00:100Mbps 1c30000.ethernet-0:00:10Mbps rfkill-any root@nanopineo2:~# echo heartbeat > /sys/class/leds/orangepi\:red\:status/trigge root@nanopineo2:~# cat /proc/device-tree/ #address-cells gmac-3v3/ psci/ thermal-zones/ aliases/ interrupt-parent r-gpio-keys/ timer/ chosen/ leds/ serial-number usb0-vbus/ clocks/ memory/ #size-cells vcc3v3/ compatible model soc/ cpus/ name __symbols__/ root@nanopineo2:~# cat /proc/device-tree/model Xunlong Orange Pi PC 2 root@nanopineo2:~# cat /proc/device-tree/compatible xunlong,orangepi-pc2allwinner,sun50i-h5r root@nanopineo2:~# Suggestions? Stanislav Sinyagin Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Now 4.11 kernel update is missing for nanopineo2. The link returns 404: https://beta.armbian.com/pool/main/l/linux-u-boot-nanopineo2-dev/
Stanislav Sinyagin Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 with 4.11, there's still an issue that an attached WiFi dongle is not visible after reboot, and it needs to be re-plugged (or the whole board needs a power-cycle). It looks like the USB device initialization is broken at soft reboot.

Stanislav Sinyagin Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 also after poweroff command, the board starts up again by itself
Timeless Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Hi, This is my first time trying an Armbian image for the NEO2 but I noticed that there are only Ubuntu based images here, but would it be possible to add Debian images as well? just like this for example. So it would be possible to run OpenMediaVault Regards,
