Hello, I am an brand new Orange Pi user. I download the Lubuntu_1404_For_OrangePi_v1_0_0.tar image from their site. untried it and made an image to a 8G micro SD card. Now I connected the HTML and started it up, all I got are the yellow and green LCDs lite up, then nothing happens, Are there some additional steps I am not doing? Thanks.

which is the complete Name of your Orange Pi model and from which URL did you download the Lubuntu-Version?
If we know the right model-name we could also show you a link to a newer/working armbian-version with desktop :)

Hummer it is my first Orange Pi I have having to be from a friend, he couldn't get it to boot either so he gave up.) I am not even sure its model,  it says Orange Pi on the box and on the PCB it says PC v1.3, the rest I can't quit read because it was printed over some components. Underneath it  and there is a diagonally bigger chip has something printed on it but all I can see is H3, but it looks just this one http://www.instructables.com/id/Orange-Pi-PC-Get-Started/ so I guess it is Orange Pi PC. And the image I downloaded is from here http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/ under Orange Pi Plus2 and Plus( there are so many of them, so I picked the one says Lubuntu, not even sure if it is the correct one.)

And also for the power I use the gpio pin 4 and 6.

Those images are a pile of crap and not supported. Hit the download button above or just pick your board here: https://www.armbian.com/download/?tx_maker=xunlong

Then proceed with https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/ and if nothing will work out, we might help you.

If you would read at least comments below http://www.instructables.com/id/Orange-Pi-PC-Get-Started/ you would already do that.

The issue is the image you are downloading.

It is written PC v1.3 but you downloaded the Plus one...

the v1.3 has another DRAM Type against the V1.2:

https://linux-sunxi.org/Orange_Pi_PC

DRAM 1GiB DDR3L ( v1.2 K4B4G1646Q-HYK0, v1.3 K4B4G1646E-BYK0)

@tony 1812

for Desktop-uasge you can use the image https://dl.armbian.com/orangepipc/Ubuntu_xenial_default_desktop.7z

or as Server use the image https://dl.armbian.com/orangepipc/Debian_stretch_next.7z
