Orange Pi PC2 (H5) overheating after a shutdown

Recommended Posts

My Orange Pi PC2 work fine with Stretch (mainline, 4.14.48) between 35 and 65 °C. I got only a minor (but annoying) problem: the board start overheating after a shutdown (sudo shutdown -h now) and reach >70 °C after few minutes. Is it a kernel problem? Or a hardware design fault?

Hi, i have face similar issue.

When i halt (sudo halt) the orange pi zero (H2+), i observe overheating situation even if copper heatsing is mounted.

iIreally wonder whether sudo halt  stops the cpu or not.

Does anyone have any idea about this.?

Normal. Board can't really power off properly due to ... cheap design. The only way is to make it into sleep mode with use of the AR100 coprocessor inside H2/H3 chip which support is in this state: http://linux-sunxi.org/AR100

there are a lot of things about AR100. unfortunately I dont have time to dig that real time processor. anyway i wont implement "shutdown " or "halt" to my project.

Solved.

Please check this.
