  1. Hi, I'm using NetBIOS names when using ssh to access other CTs on my local network. Most of the CTs and other hosts are running Wheezy. Now I have a CT running Stretch and it's very difficult to access this host using 'ssh <stretch host name>' because it's not responding to the broadcas from the calling host. If I repeat the request (and broadcast for the name) multiple times then sooner or later the Stretch CT will respond in time. The timeout on the host doing the broadcast seems very short. Does anybody know where this timeout is specified and how to change it ? Thanks, Steven
  2. Someone could explain what fex "machine" does? Each board has specific machine, like machine=cubietruck. Who use this information? Uboot? Kernel? For what? Thanks, Leonardo
  3. Hello, after the usual apt update/apt upgrade the OS requested a reboot. However it then fails to boot. Here's the output of the console: I guess the critical stuff is what I marked in bold? So what happened here and what to do to recover? Not keen to reinstall the whole OS... Edit: I pulled th SD-Card and read it from a Linux PC. When I take a look at /boot/boot.scr it is clearly corrupted! If I'm correct there's binary data inside, however in the hexdata I can see some segments with ASCII text fragments inside that releates to my private data (e.g. names of mp3 files!!) and that shoud definitely not be in boot.scr. So whatever happened, something during apt update/upgrade killed the boot.scr - and hopefully nothing else. Can I somehow repair boot.scr without reinstalling the whole OS? My Cubietruck is on Stretch. Edit: Further analysis showed that several more files than just boot.scr from /boot have been corrupted, where originally was a script there's binary junk now. So probably I need to reinstall the OS, as I cannot know which files were destroyed. The question here of course is what did corrupt all those file in /boot? I'm aware that I might never find out. The SD Card used is not a no-name product, it's an emtec (http://www.emtec-international.com/de/home), so this should not be due to a crappy card. So what remains is a stale feeling about the system suddenly dying... :-// THX Don
  4. I am running cubitruck wheezy 7.5 from 2014, Kernel 3.4.104 for over three years as homeserver with VGA display. How can I activate HDMI for a new display. (I cannot reinsall the whole system, growed up for all the years) I already changed the settings in fexfile: [disp_init] disp_init_enable = 1 disp_mode = 0 screen0_output_type = 3 screen0_output_mode = 6 screen1_output_type = 3 screen1_output_mode = 6 also changed fex to bin and reboot, but no HDMI-output Can anybode give me a hint?

  6. Hi I've downloaded v5.38 firmware for my Cubietruck device and replaced on an older version due to my problem with new updates. Etcher was my tool for writing image on SD card and i have cleared SD card before writing new image. When new image installed and device booted up, but WiFi is not working and WiFi module is neither listed in lsmodule output nor module list file. It seems that WiFi driver is not installed or WiFi hardware is not detected. Is there any way to fix this issue? @Igor
  7. Hello all! I'm running armbian on a cubietrack wich I use for transmission and samba purposes. The Cubietrack is always on, and today I realized that was responding to ping but I couldn't log with ssh. When I restarted the system it hanged on this screen: The Cubietrack have ping response, but can't do anything. Any ideas? Thank you!

  10. Hello, I'm running a Cubietruck with legacy kernel (3.4.113) since a long time. The use of the legacy kernel is mainly due to the fact that I'm booting from onboard NAND and this was not supported by the mainline kernel for a long time. Meanwhile Armbian's mainline kernel became Stretch in its server flavor and I'm thinking about migrating. However I'm suspicious this will still break NAND boot, despite the fact that the documentation claims plus "missing NAND support" is not listed under "known issues" for the Cubietruck. Can anyone confirm or deny that mainline kernel meanwhile does/does not support booting from NAND on Cubietruck? And if NAND is not supported (and will then likely never be) and I'll have to switch to MMC to change to Stretch: Is there a way to dist-upgrade to MMC & Stretch without the need to re-install the Cubietruck's OS? THX Don

  12. I use one of my Cubietrucks to operate two IR-read/write heads to read out powermeters. Sometimes some kind of error happends and the device get's disconnected (not physically, but from system): dmesg output: [434913.929842] ohci-platform 1c14400.usb: frame counter not updating; disabled [434913.939546] ohci-platform 1c14400.usb: HC died; cleaning up [434913.947863] usb 3-1: USB disconnect, device number 3 [434913.949632] cp210x ttyUSB0: failed set request 0x0 status: -19 [434913.959197] cp210x ttyUSB0: cp210x converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0 [434913.959273] cp210x 3-1:1.0: device disconnected I can fix it by rebooting only, also unplugging/re-plugging the cable physically is not working. I googled around and there are some ideas how to reset it, but nothing worked. Is there maybe anything special for Cubietruck that I could do? Any help would be great!

  15. Hi All, I did upgrade of my Cubieboard 3 from 5.31 to Armbian 5.36 and everything was fine. But than by short system audit I find an old package "rpimonitor" that was used long time before and never being used now. I did "sudo apt purge rpimonitor" and "sudo apt autoremove" to remove dependencies and it starts... Somehow my CPU load was vanished, on Idle mode it shows at least 2.0+ and at least 4+ on load. Looks like it is twice higher than it is. If I run top command, nothing shown. Only mysql time is 117+ Hours. But, Idle is 98.7... :~$ top top - 19:29:50 up 22:07, 3 users, load average: 2.28, 2.35, 2.93 Tasks: 112 total, 1 running, 111 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie %Cpu(s): 0.3 us, 0.5 sy, 0.0 ni, 98.7 id, 0.5 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.0 si, 0.0 st KiB Mem : 2046812 total, 64960 free, 484692 used, 1497160 buff/cache KiB Swap: 131068 total, 131068 free, 0 used. 1483864 avail Mem PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 10787 user 20 0 6996 1536 1016 R 1.0 0.1 0:00.19 top 713 mysql 20 0 627040 329036 6020 S 0.7 16.1 117:16.47 mysqld 777 root 20 0 51836 7972 2032 S 0.3 0.4 2:20.05 fail2ban-server 908 snmp 20 0 12044 2424 712 S 0.3 0.1 2:24.67 snmpd 1 root 20 0 22824 2944 1700 S 0.0 0.1 0:22.26 systemd 2 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.04 kthreadd 3 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 2:56.23 ksoftirqd/0 Also Cacti graphs looks bad now: But temperature did not goes up as I should if CPU is 100% in use: Funny, but I do not "feel" the cpu load, server is quite responsible, but seems only showing wrong data. 16. Dear All, I need to install a MongoDB due to install unifi controller. Base on the documatation (UniFi - How to Install & Update via APT on Debian or Ubuntu) version 2.9.10 is recommend . You can find the latest installation guide for Ubuntu here, and Debian here. Both does not work. I've got the following error message when performing "apt-get update", I now this is the MonoDB version 3.4, but I got the same message on the recommended version. To be honest, I'm not a debian expert :-( Thank you for your assistance BR Patrick
  17. Hi. I've been using my Cubietruck for some time now without any issues. It is not directly connected to the outside world and is only used for some home automation. It boots via SD -> the SSD and has an internal battery as UPS. Really happy with it. Last year I migrated from Wheezy to Jessi so now I am at: ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.109-sunxi I still receive the updates via ap-get update && upgrade, however should I be updating major like kernel? As this thing is used for home automation I am not looking forward to large down times. ;-) tnx for your honest responses.

  20. Hi there, I'm using a Cubietruck with Ubuntu-Server 16.04.3 legacy. To make ssh-login more secure I changed to public-key and disabled login with user/password. Everything works fine, but at login I can't see the welcome screen any longer. Not a big problem, but it would be nice to get help. Thx!
  21. Hello, on Cubietruck, until I upgrade my ARMBIAN server from Jessie to Stretch with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi, I could use the VGA output for display. After the upgrade, I don't have any display from VGA. In /boot/boot.cmd, I have the following kernel bootargs : "console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait rootfstype=ext4 sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_g2d_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_no_mali_mem_reserve sunxi_fb_mem_reserve=16 hdmi.audio=EDID:0 disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 panic=10 consoleblank=0 enforcing=0 loglevel=1" Any advice ? Thanks in advance, Romain
  22. I have dd'd Armbian "stretch" onto a 16GB SD card and it's booting my CubieTruck fine. But I have no clue how to move it from there (mmcblk0p1) to my attached 128GB SSD (sda1). I've tried the nand_sata_install shell script but it appears to be a bit old (2 years), created a bunch of weird temp directories: root@cubietruck:~# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 939M 0 939M 0% /dev tmpfs 202M 4.0M 198M 2% /run /dev/mmcblk0p1 15G 1.1G 14G 8% / tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 4.0K 5.0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /tmp log2ram 50M 2.3M 48M 5% /var/log tmpfs 202M 0 202M 0% /run/user/0 and anyway as you can see my SSD does not appear to be visible. I've looked at a bunch of websites which mentions uEnv.txt file on my mounted mmcbl0p1 drive in root but there is no such file. There is an armbianEnv.txt file but that has no obvious way to change it. Are there up to date instructions somewhere on how to achieve this?
  23. Hi, Just a quick question as Debian Stretch has been out for a while now: Will there be an official upgrade of ARMBIAN for the Cubietruck (Cubieboard 3) at some point or is there a simple doc on how to upgrade the distribution? I run ARMBIAN with the legacy kernel (3.4.113-sun7i). Everything required for the system boot is in the NAND while the root and /home partitions are on the sdd. Would it be possible to upgrade to Stretch just by replacing the version name in the sources.list file? If there won't be any automated ARMBIAN upgrades to Stretch for this device. Would you recommend using the official Debian distribution (and booting from a micro-SD-card instead from the NAND)? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  24. Hi guys, Quick question about the USB ports on the Cubietruck. Once I am done with the usual setup procedure (changing the root password and setup a user) system reboot. I sometimes end up in situations where I need to access the Cubietruck directly and not through ssh. In such situations I noticed that my usb keyboard and mouse do not respond at all, eventhough if these are the exact same ones hich I used to the 1first time setup. What could be the reason for this ? Thx,blub4747
  25. Hi everyone, has anyone tried to make the above mentioned tuner work with Cubietruck? If so, were you successful? Again, if so, what are the necessary steps? It should be possible with kernel 4.11, since the latest LibreELEC distribution includes the drivers in kernel 4.9. Help would be appreciated! Thanks and cheers, chessplayer
