  1. Hi there, Just got OPi4 after some problem from Chineses... Problem: - no at all output at HDMI (connected to HDMI-VGA converter and 1920x1024 VGA LCD display, works with OPi PC+), - if Eth connected device gots (after few minutes) IP from DHCP. - no server running on that IP (tried telnet, ssg, WWW), PING works. uSD card with Armbian Buster for OPi4. What to check next? Console? What speed? 115200 or 1.500.000?
  2. @Igor Kernel enabled Bootsplash works great on the recent 20.08 on Orange Pi 4. However there is a delay of around 20 - 30 seconds before this Bootsplash comes up. Is is possible to enable bootsplash on u-boot also on this image? I built a custom image 20.08-trunk with option "Kernel enabled bootsplash' disabled however could not see u-boot bootspalsh on this image. -Rajesh
  3. Armbian (I try a lot of versions include Armbian Focal xfce mainline based kernel 5.10.y) fails on Orange Pi 4B. 1. Orange Pi 4B booting normal, I try to do hard job and... it restarting every time after try to do hard job like build Qt or running benchmark and never boot normal again while powered. I need off power supply, on power supply and Armbian boot normal again and goto 1. I use Orange Pi 4B (on pcb v 1.4) with Ubuntu 18 from xunlong (Linux 4.4.179-g4cac54c6-dyrty). It works ok even I build big apps like Qt or run benchmarks. I also building my own Ubuntu 18 using xunlong script and it also working ok. Why I can't use Armbian for my Orange Pi 4B? My power supply from xunlong is good. Also I try a lot of others power supply.
  4. Hi all! Is it possible to configure Orange Pi 4 wifi to work in AP mode ? Will both 5ghz and 2.4 ghz be supported ? Thanks for advance in answer.
  5. Looks like OPi4 has two active UART interfaces (ttyS2, S4). S2 is connected to the back 3 pins which are the debug ports, and S4 is uart on pins 19,21. Is there anyway to bring up another interface for UART on Pins 8, 10? Ive tried adding uart1,2,3 etc in armbianEnv file in /boot as well as console=display but non of this works.
  6. Hi, I'm struggling to get some sound through a PCM5102a module connected to GPIOs. I guess I've to make a dts-overlay to enable it on i2s0 but I didn't succeed, I'm very new to that. Could anyone tell me how to achieve that ? Many thanks for your work !
  7. Hello, I tried Armbian_21.02.1_Orangepi4_bionic_current_5.10.12_minimal.img and Armbian_21.02.1_Orangepi4_buster_current_5.10.12.img but these two version the eth0 doesn't work. 8. After Seeing all that spi nmve boot hype for the other boards and some time left i took the effort to level up the Orange Pi boards because they are the same as the rest it has a rk3399. The Uboot was a mess so i matched it with the kerenel dts a lot and corrected some issues. Dts debug is not the friendliest debug it compiles or not And after some trial and error (a lot ) and finding a spi nor flash wich is supported (or you add one of your own) it costs a esp8266 has 4mb spi flash or a old printer who had a 4mb and 8mb i got a boot from spi so . and with reading the armbian forum i saw 150balbes talked about usb boot and didnt know if usb3 works well after adding some tcphy usb was seen by uboot . so SPI > USB3 boot works and take note USB3 not USBC (fusb30x) yet so next attempt was emmc so ordered some emmc chips , and because there are a lot i made the mistake to order 4.5 instead at least 5.0 so emmc is not checked but should work nothing realy changed there maybey the env in uboot option and you saw also the ? with nvme yeah that is in the mailbox from ali but should also work but is not tested . And even take the kernel dts and changed that to match the other dts in alphabetic order and added USBC so kernel sees the usbc port and change to what is connected as you can see in the kernel logs .only it broke a little the hdmi uboot option why i think it was late and forgot a dts option but i got both the dtb so only have to check what option i forogot to combine those 2 usbc and hdmi . And sure there will be mistakes by me but at least the orangepi4 has is dts updated and more boot options as before and even more as other boards. i attach the armbian patches and log files for who is interested . have fun with it ow ps you have to change the \build\config\boards\orangepi4.conf and add BOOT_FDT_FILE="rockchip/rk3399-orangepi-4.dtb" and in \build\config\sources\families\rk3399.conf add BOOT_SUPPORT_SPI=yes hdmi.dtb hdmi.dts kernel-rockchip64-dev.patch orangepi-4-rk3399_defconfig rk3399-orangepi-4-kernel.dts rk3399-orangepi-4-uboot.dts sd-boot-log.txt sd-dmesg.txt spi-sd-sd-bootlog.txt spi-sd-sd-dmesg.txt spi-sd-sd-dmesg-usbc.txt spi-usb3-hdmi-bootlog.txt spi-usb3-hdmi-dmesg-console.txt spi-usb3-hdmi-dmesg-desktop.txt u-boot-rockchip64-dev.patch usbc.dtb usbc.dts
  9. Hi. I am faced with the problem of installing overlays on Orange Pi 4. I need to use SPI and I use the following settings: verbosity=1 bootlogo=false overlay_prefix=rockchip rootdev=UUID=946e374a-7ca8-488d-ad86-ab38ccfc7cc1 rootfstype=ext4 overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u As far as I know, after connecting the overlays, the devices should appear in the list / div, but this does not happen. New devices will not appear also when installing overlays w1-gpio or uart1 I also have problems with Ethernet connection if I use param_spidev_spi_bus=0, but if i use param_spidev_spi_bus=1, the board does not start at all. I tried Armbian 21.02.1 buster linux 4.4.213 and Armbian 21.02.1 Bionic with Linux 5.10.12 but the result is the same. I think it has something to do with rockchip 3399, but I'm not good at linux. Could you help me find a solution?
  10. Hello, I update my Orange PI 4 with the update Armbian 21.02.1 Focal and I was surprided to see the maximum CPU (A72) frequency is now limited to 1.8GHz. In previous version, this maximum frequency was 2GHz. Is it normal or is it a regression ? Thank you in advance for your help !
  11. Hi~ After "sudo poweroff" , my OPI4 does not boot anymore.(p.s. when i use "sudo reboot" ,it works.) I had looked over some topics, but i still get how to fix uboot . Can someone help me?Thanks!!!!! p.s I try to use "armbian-config"/"install" to fix the problem, but there was no "boot from sd"
  12. Hello! I have OrangePi4 and it works quite well out of the box with Armbian desktop latest. However there were some minor problems, this is the first one: Video resolution was incorrect by default in console framebuffer. The screen is 1920x1080, but default was 1280x720. The solution is adding extraargs=video=1920x1080@60 To /boot/armbianEnv.txt . The part after first = is passed to the Kernel command line and kernel enables the resolution. This have fixed my problem mostly, however, the video output is enabled only during late boot. This is not a big problem, but it would be better if the screen lit up immediately after the computer is powered on, like it happens on regular PC's rather than after half of OS is already loaded. So I am wondering, is it possible to enable HDMI video output in the bootloader, so I can see kernel early bootlog on screen? It would also be nice to enable keyboard too so I can access u-boot command line without disassembling the case. So do you think either of this two is possible? It should help me load other operating systems as well, since I have tried to load NetBSD on my box and it works mostly, except there is no video.
  13. THE MEDIA SCRIPT IS DEPRECATED, IN FAVOR OF THE LEGACY MULTIMEDIA INTEGRATION. PLEASE REFER TO THIS TOPIC: So finally we have the first version of: The UN-official, UN-supported, etc... RK3399 MEDIA TESTING SCRIPT This is the first release of the RK3399 media testing script. The script provides a functionality similar to its RK3288 equivalent: Installing all the libraries and system configurations necessary for GPU accelerated X desktop, Chromium WebGL, full VPU video play acceleration up to 4k@60 10-bit HEVC (the maximum supported by the SoC), and GLES 3.2 / OpenCL 1.2 support. Three video players supporting full VPU acceleration (RKMPP) and KMS display (GBM or a X11 DRM "hack", as described by the authors), namely: MPV, Gstreamer and Kodi. Two example programs using the OpenCL functionality: Examples form the Arm Compute Library, and a GPU crypto miner (an old version, but small and simple). A library that will act as an OpenGL to OpenGL-ES wrapper, allowing you to run programs that use OpenGL 1.5-2.0. Two additional features, that have no big interest from the Armbian development prospective, but I find them interesting to play with: Chromium browser with support for Flash and DRM-protected commercial web video streaming (tested with Amazon Prime, should also work with Netflix, Hulu, etc.), and a simple Pulseaudio GTK equalizer using LADSPA. Here is a more thorough documentation: >>> DOWNLOAD LINK <<< Prerequisites: You need a fresh Armbian Bionic desktop image with legacy kernel installed. Instructions: Download the file above Untar it: tar xvf media-rk3399_*.txz cd media-script ./media-rk3399.sh Notes: This script is not officially supported by the Armbian project. It is just a community effort to help the development of the main build, by experimenting with a possible implementation of the media capabilities of this particular SoC. Therefore, questions about the script should not be laid out as support requests, but as commentaries or community peer-to-peer assistance. That being said, all commentaries/suggestions/corrections are very welcome. In the same way, I will do my best to help solve any difficulty that may arise regarding the script. Enjoy!
  14. I have an Orange Pi 4B. The board as the only USB 3.0 port has the USB-C type. I connect the USB-C x USB-A adapter. I connect the USB flash drive and it doesn't work. Power from the port is coming out properly. Is there any chance that this port will work properly with an external drive?
  15. hi all, I am wondering if there's any reason that CEC is not built into legacy kernel for RK3399. In https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/kernel/linux-rk3399-legacy.config, module dw-hdmi-cec is not enabled. # CONFIG_DRM_DW_HDMI_CEC is not set If no special reason, I can make a PR for this. Thank you!
  16. We are facing some issue while interfacing 5" MIPI display to RK3399.

    Orange pi 4

The new Opi board, using the popular rk3399 at a good price. Has a debian image... not sure what kernel it uses. Where to start ?
  18. Hello everyone, I have an OrangePi 4 that will serve as an interface for the electric car chargers that are produced in my company. We currently use Raspberry 3 and we want to upgrade to the OrangePi 4, mainly because it has eMMc. The problem is that the interface we have was designed to work on Raspberry. I put the SD card with the image in the OrangePi but it starts with the system that has been installed on eMMc (Armbian). Can you tell me if it will be very difficult for the image we use in Rpi to be possible to install on OrangePi? Another thing I want to do is move from the Armbian that I have currently installed on eMMc to Debian, however the image on the website (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wAdkC25BmjMwapWahEEQGTvi-yuwo8Gx) is only for the 4.4.179 kernel and the one I have installed on OrangePi is 4.4.213. How can I install the Debian image?
  19. Using Armbian bionic (Ubuntu 18.04) on a Orange PI4, hostapd does not run as service. Neither at startup, nor when stopped and restarted manually. 21. Hello, I have a problem with my OrangePi 4, if I connect it with the operating system already installed at the factory (Android 8), I can get my USB keyboard and mouse connected to work normally. However, whenever I try a new image, be it Debian, Armbian or another version of Ubuntu, I can only get the mouse to work, the keyboard never works and I get stuck in the login screen where I can't write even the username and password. Can someone help me?

  23. Hi , I downloaded "Armbian_20.08_Orangepi4_bionic_legacy_4.4.213_desktop" from Chinese mirror ... flashed into a 16 GB sd card using Etcher ...and now on first start/boot getting these messages (messages pictures attached )...what may be the problem ? * SBC > Opi4 (with 16 GB on board EMMC) . * Power supply > Original Orange Pi supplied 5v/3 amps . * Os version > Armbian_20.08_Orangepi4_bionic_legacy_4.4.213_desktop. * SD card > 16 GB . EDIT/UPDATE : I just carried on punching the requested information which Armbian usually ask at fresh install/boot..with my every key pressed console kept on emitting errors BUT ultimately it finally reach the Desktop GUI...weired...is`nt it ? I added few extra screen shots at the end of this post to update the whole scene...Screen shots named "Later1/2/3" were taken afterwards ...
  24. I always received beacons with Country "US", until I created the file "brcmfmac43456-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-4.txt". It is a copy of brcmfmac43456-sdio.txt and I added the line: ccode=DE With this modification, I see the expected beacon. (Country: "DE", correct tx-power, ...) I think this is not the intended way to configure it. What I checked before: My hostapd.conf contains; ... country_code=DE ieee80211d=1 ... iw reg get global country DE: DFS-ETSI (2400 - 2483 @ 40), (N/A, 20), (N/A) (5150 - 5250 @ 80), (N/A, 20), (N/A), NO-OUTDOOR, AUTO-BW (5250 - 5350 @ 80), (N/A, 20), (0 ms), NO-OUTDOOR, DFS, AUTO-BW (5470 - 5725 @ 160), (N/A, 26), (0 ms), DFS (5725 - 5875 @ 80), (N/A, 13), (N/A) (57000 - 66000 @ 2160), (N/A, 40), (N/A) Starting hostapd with "-d" prints "Beacon head" and "tail". I found "DE" in the hex-values but not "US". Tested configuration on Raspberri Pi ==> Beacon with expected country code "DE" So all test returned the expected results but in the air I captured "US", wrong max power, ... until I added the file "brcmfmac43456-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-4.txt" with the line "ccode=DE".
  25. Hi there, is the RK3399 (OrangePi4) already supported by Armbian? The manufacturer claims support "Debian 9" but current Armbian is Debian Buster 10 - based. Anyone tried this board with success?
