Aldoszx Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) I have a problem with NEO2 and EDIMAX EW 7822ULC. I can't see none of my 5GHz network SSID, but I can connect to 2.4 GHz. I am using Buster minimal image. It is something I should do to solve this problem? Thank you. Edited May 7, 2020 by Aldoszx
Igor Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Providing logs with armbianmonitor -u significantly raises chances that issue is getting addressed. In general Edimax products has very little to do with Nanopi Neo2. How do you power your board?
Aldoszx Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 This is the log: http://ix.io/2l9Q I am using 5V 2.5A power adapter to power the board. It was chosen because it is in the tested 3rd party hardware list.
Werner Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 The drivers for this WiFi come from https://github.com/cilynx/rtl88x2bu Since Armbian simply includes them as they are it might be better to open an issue report over there. They probably can track this down better than we could.

Yes, that dongle works fine for me and it is the best performer. But if your powering is not proper, things can go south pretty quickly. Those dongles needs 1-1.5A only for them. Once you don't rule out powering by putting a powered USB hub in between, it is powering problem.

Aldoszx Posted May 15, 2020 Author Posted May 15, 2020 I have changed the power supply with one providing 5V 5A and now I can connect to 5GHz network. Anyway, I have another problem: wifi keeps disconnecting from time to time and the dhcp server provides every time another IP address !
sfx2000 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Add this extraargs=net.ifnames=0 to /boot/armbianEnv.txt Some WiFi routers have problems with this... and some WiFi drivers as well...
Aldoszx Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 Thanks, I will try that. For now, i am using static IP address, and it is working fine.
Aldoszx Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 After latest updates, does not work anymore ! My 5GHz wi-fi network is not even seen. I've tried also another wi-fi adapter, ASUS AC-53 (same chipset AFAIK). In this case, the SSID appears, but I cannot connect. Tried also Focal image: same issue ! Maybe there is a problem with drivers or this chipset. 2.4GHz connection works. Any clues? Thank you !
