I already readed so much, and i did dedicate many time, this tvbox and others, my original project was with laptop and netbook's boards, i get the firth tvbox for tests, and was all ok, but each tvbox is different, it has no standard nor support from the manufacturer, i would be better get a orange pi, less problems,  I'm thinking of giving up! Here in Brazil, have a popular dictade, it's: " the cheap in the end is expensive" ! But i see many advantages, it's cheap, little volume , internal memory and low power consume! Armbian legay buster working fine with my applications too!  If i can buy other igual the firth tvbox, i would ike it! I have  some problem, i want see it all work, i want know, understand all, it many times it's impossible, but i insist !

I am very grateful for your dedication! Thank you!

I will never stress out that THESE issues reported by you are the exact reasons to chose a properly supported Single Board Computer from the officially supported list and not buy crap like supercheap tvboxes. If you don't have the time, will and skills to solve troubles, tvboxes may end up being a large source of frustration. The very same problems are the main reason tvboxes are NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED and NOT ENDORSED by Armbian project; tvboxes are just a community effort to have fun with them and avoid some waste, but the mileage can vary greatly. Here are the FAQs

ok, but how do You have calculated that value? Because I have found ddr3-1600 mhz. Moreover, I have another doubt: can be possible that a lower frequency can made system instable? My basically knowledge about overclock was related to the fact that only higher frequency than standard can cause instability issue. However, I'll do just a last trial at 660, if system doesn't boot I'll set default.

I have made trial setting 660 mhz as frequency ram but sometimes don't boot. So right value for the ram is set item default (that don't specifies the frequency value). Another doubt it's related to first voice (RK3228A vs RK3228B) ... I have set RK3228A with a low frequency but I don't know if RK3228B can be usable.

Yesterday I have compiled MakeMKV and all works fine after more then 2 hours of working task.

I have to ask only few question:

1. how configure ir remote control to turn on the device from ir and use the 4 arrows key as mouse?

2. I have a problem with file manager accessing a windows smb share: it ask necessary for a username while accessing the same windows share folder from android and other windows pc it works without asking nothing. Going in properties -> sharing there are 2 users: "Everyone" wirh "Read/Write" grant and "Utente" with "Owner" grant. Do You know how to fix it?

there are some tools for linux and IR on this box it can be became complicate because GPIO and DTB and tools, relearn remote   , so on .............

when you are lucky the right setting are already in dtb and the tool recognise the IR comannd than you need to relearn the remote inside the tool

thats not topic of this board and dont relatet to rk322x , maybe smbv2 vs smbv1 , anyonmus account etc ..... please ask in the right place

I have tried to play a blu-ray image, but vlc is very slow and I have see only a frame with some squares. I think that isn't enabled hardware decoding. How can enable it? Can I ask here or I must open a thread ? I'm sure that mxq pro can play h264 stream full hd so the cause isn't a hardware limit

ok, if a blu-ray is an h264 fullhd or 4k video why hardware should be good only for Youtube videos?

However, if I install install_media it's necessary install also kodi ?

little o.t.:

It's possible know the script used to compile ffmpeg  ? I ask this because for play blu-ray I should execute this steps https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 and should compile ffmpeg with ./configure --prefix=/tmp/ffmpeg --enable-static --disable-shared --enable-pic --enable-libfdk-aac .

Can You tell me the tool to relearn ir remote control ?

 I have made some research and I have found this https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=6373&pid=39867 , https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=44509 and https://github.com/rockchip-linux/mpp/tree/develop .

Goal is: play bluray iso with vlc media player (both encrypted that not encrypted such this for example https://durian.blender.org/download/ and iso here https://download.blender.org/durian/movies/ ) so I have found this article https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/08/watch-bluray-discs-in-vlc-on-ubuntu-with-makemkv and I have reached this link https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 . So I think that I must uninstall current makemkv-bin, makemkv-oss and ffmpeg compiled with "./configure --prefix=/tmp/ffmpeg --enable-static --disable-shared --enable-pic --enable-libfdk-aac" first, and the recompile ffmpeg with "--enable-rkmpp". But how preciously?

Moreover Can I install install_media script removing kodi section (also for earn some space considering that are available only 1.3 GB) for get rkmpp tool?

I have compiled this build of ffmpeg https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/ffmpeg , it's a valid build or there is a ffmpeg modded rkmpp ?

for vlc, I should modify association between h264 - h264 decoder of ffmpeg with h264 - h264_rkmpp decoder or should modify ffmpeg that it should consider h264 call as h264_rkmpp ?

What are Armsoc driver, Libmali for Utgard Mali 400 (both X11 and GBM versions) and GL4ES OpenGL to OpenGL ES wrapper?

I today have compiled RKMPP , why to compile ffmpeg I should specify also --enable-libx264 \  --enable-libx265 \ ? Aren't they already included in compile time?

@n3o  As a moderator of these forums, I have been watching your postings.  You are abusing these forums and the people that contribute to them.  (Everyone, especially @RaptorSDS and @jock have been very willing to invest a lot of time to help you)   However, repeatedly you have been given specific information that you ignore, been given advise that you ignore and then you come back with more and more questions.  There are very limited people resources working on Armbian (and even less with TV boxes).  You alone are consuming way more developer time than any one individual has the right to receive.  This is open source, and therefore users are needed to contribute as much as they consume in resources from the community in order for this to work.  This is not a school where you can come to be taught how everything works, demanding the attention of everyone else to teach you.

Your latest questions are now venturing into very deep and difficult areas of code (none of which is expected to work on these TV boxes as has been mentioned to you).  If you want to continue down the path you are going, you first need to become an expert at these topics on known working platforms, then you can try to apply that expertise on TV boxes.  You may not realize it, but the questions you are asking, are essentially asking for weeks if not months of developer help to get working, if it is at all possible.

I dont know if anyone can help with this but there goes. I fiscally changed the NAND chip and now I need to flash it with bootloader and possibly more things (?) - I has 64GB, I tried to boot from SD card Multitool, but does not work, if I remove the chip, Multitool opens so something is needed to do with the NAND (?)

EDIT: I managed to start Multitool and look at the UART, here is the output:

The last 3 lines I think say that the NAND was not recognized? Maybe there is a way to "format" it by command line? (I know is not that simple)

@Felipe Muniz I don't think it was a good idea to change the NAND. AFAIK, eMMC can be switched with no real software issues, but NAND chips in my opinion are way thougher because they require a software layer (the FTL) to work correctly. The proprietary NAND driver contains the FTL routines for a bunch of vendors and specific parts, so IMHO you can't put any bigger/better part and expect to work out of the box.

You may boot in maskrom mode, upload a recent loader and see if rfdeveloptool/rkflashtool detect the nand parameters correctly (size, vendor, page size, ecc bits, etc...),otherwise I would not expect it to work in any way.

@jock  I try to use rktools, I used before, but with the NAND only, without the SD card, nothing is prompted to the UART, and rktools just keep hanging even simple commands. Also it starts in maskmode without any interaction, it goes strait to maskmode. Any suggestion? (Ignore the stuff on the putty terminal, is from boot with sdcard to see if was working UART)

Then the box is starting in maskmode the chip ROM is not finding any loader in the internal or external storage,

The its in that mode you shall flashing one loader to the flash and if its OK the box is starting the loader and doing logging if its working OK (I think the chip POM is not longing any at all then is not knowing the hardware).

@MattWestB But does the rktools depend on the flash? I tried to flash it, but like I said it just get stuck like in the example above.

@Francisco Pena Yeah, many links from @jock on the main post are down, I don't now why, I used a older version from builds and multitool that I already had on my computer...

Hello!

The latest kernel update for my TV box (linux-image-legacy-rk322x_23.8.1_armhf) broke my Wireguard server:

[#] ip link add wg0 type wireguard
RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported
Unable to access interface: Protocol not supported
[#] ip link delete dev wg0
Cannot find device "wg0"
wg-quick@wg0.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Failed to start WireGuard via wg-quick(8) for wg0.

I think it's a problem in the kernel headers, which are missing.

I downgrade to version 21.08.1 and everything is working fine.

Did anyone else have the same issue?

Hello! Dunno what am i doing wrong, so i need any help with AlfaWise a8 pro 5g

This atv has simular board XT_MX1VR_V02, but with samsung 618 klmag2wepd-b031. I tried steps for installation with sd

  • burn multitool, then any image from "Archived images (August 2021 and before)"
  • insert sd into atv
  • burn image
  • shutdown, then unplug power, sd card then plug power
  • and nothing, only tiny little red led light without any output on hdmi

I also tried unbrick this thing, short 7-8 pin worked, but for maskrom, it didnt help to boot from sd card. So I returned stock rom for scishion model x, then install another achived image hoping this would work, but nothing

Mmmh, I think wireguard module backport has been removed from armbian from non-mainline kernels some time ago.

Upgrading the legacy kernel is quite useless though, since it is frozen at the version supplied by rockchip and not anymore upgraded. Kernel headers should be already there as a separate package, so if you need wireguard you can still compile the backport yourself.

but this isnt the kernel , that is the armbian base system update .

my knowladge that kernel never get update at non offizial Armbain device with apt-upgrade , ever only the base system in some range

also than we have the package with header linux-header-rk322x_23.x.x.....

the new kernel only with new compile complete image files

last year or maybe begin of 2023 i update header without base system this also break one box
