I successfully installed jeedom, so now I would like to put armbian on the eMMC.

To do that I follow the process from @balbes150 on the first page of this post.

First step is :

1. Be sure to activate multi-boot using the new image. If multiboot previously activated is required to repeat activation using files in a new image.

On the first post it says :

Info multiboot : https://sourceforge.net/p/amlogic-s9xxx/code/ci/master/tree/

I'm not sure which instruction to follow.

Also I don't have the create-mbr-linux.sh in the boot directory

So I'm lost here, thank for you help.

Hi all,

I am using a HIFI Xplay Q TV Box.

Configuration is Amlogic S912, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage with WIFI, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.

The System works as desired in ANDROID. When Booted to Armbian 5.94,5.95,5.96,5.97, Bluetooth and WIFI stopps to work.

I searched Armbian Forum and tried /etc/module entry. tried to load drivers manually. nothing works.

Command 'lsmod' shows ath10k is loaded. Which is wrong. Android says Brcm for reference I am copying dmesg output from Android.

@ashok have you tried other DTB from your group (gxm).

You probably should try them all, and see if there is one that enable wifi.

Thank you for a reply :D@funben.

Yes I have tried with all (gxm) DTBs. meson-gxm-nexbox-a1.dtb and meson-gxm-rbox-pro.dtb never allow the box to boot.

this is the device for information.

I even tried with some gxbb DTBs, some allowed to boot the box but no wifi and Blue tooth.

If any one using this box and successfully used Wifi and Bluetooth of this device please educate me with some "How Tos"

Thanks in advance.

Ok thanks for your answer, however I've read this carefully,

You said :

I've no idea, how to do that, despite the fact that I tried to read and execute your instruction carefully.

The launch of the current images Armbian with 5.3.0 kernel for Odroid C2.

Download image, unzip, burn image to SD card. Change the DTB name to  for odroid c2 (extlinux/extlinux.conf). Replace u-boot on the SD card on the version 20190923.

To install Armbian on eMMC, I used "Install" from "Armbian configuration utility"

And when reboorting, it appears that my Beelink Mini MXIII box is really bricked.

I tried to boot "normally" and with Armbian sd card inserted with paperclip on reset button.

I tried to reinstall stock firmware using usb burning tool, the burn process is successful but when rebooting the screen stay black (no signal)

What should I do from here ?

@balbes150Can you kindly elaborate on the changes?

Also was anyone able to use VFD and Wifi/BT on tanix tx9 pro? Other than that it is working quite well.

Imaged it, installed it, and everything supposed to be owned by root was owned by UID 1023. Took a while to clean that mess up, but it runs mighty fine on my x96 Mini now.

When doing same dmesg from Armbian no reference to wifi or any related thing.

but lsmod shows ath10k is loaded but ifconfig doesnt report any wifi interface.dmesg

can any one help me here?

By the way i am using Meson-gxm-q201.dtb. if this helps.

Hi An update.

I opened my TV Box. It says it is an S912M and have Fn-Link 8223A-SR chip.

By looking at the manual it says it has dual 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi and Bluetooth 4.2.

WIFI is on SDIO V3.0 and BT on UART/PCM

Android detects wifi as BRCM and Armbian detects as Atheros. Can any one here say which is correct?

and can any one help me to bring WIFI active on this device?

@balbes150 can you please put your opinion here?

Imaged it, installed it, and everything supposed to be owned by root was owned by UID 1023. Took a while to clean that mess up, but it runs mighty fine on my x96 Mini now.

Should be said that after a conversation with @KY69 it is most likely the fault of an SELinux policy on the official firmware of the x96 mini when running the updater, and not to blame on the image Oleg provided. Thank you to both of you!

I do not support WiFi.

Is that an absolute all over?    If so, I will urge you to reconsider......

@ashok When booted into Armbian what is the output of:

dmesg | grep -i firmware
lsmod | grep 80211

WiFi is a mess on a lot of the TV boxes I have played with and for a lot of devices its just not worth the effort. Even when it works, it usually doesn't. Also the armbian-firmware package seems to have some of the firmware blobs in the wrong locations for devices that use brcm blobs

I'm not going to waste my time on all the shit that manufacturers shove in their crafts (just to write on them - WiFi available). Want to have WiFi, you have several options.

1. Use normal equipment where there is guaranteed WiFi support.

2. Use external USB WiFi with good support.

3. Themselves add the necessary support for your WiFi.

4. You seek from the seller\manufacturer of your equipment the necessary support.

I totally agree with @balbes150.

In my opinion, what he's doing is absolutely great.

Maybe it's easy to forget @balbes150 is doing this for free, and maybe we don't know how many hours he's spending on doing this (I bet some of them, everyday).

Thank you, Mr. @balbes150: I think you should be paid by ATVs manufacturers, because, thanks to your work, and only in my case, they have sold 3 Amlogic ATVs (to me); and I had never bought them because of Android: It's your Armbian, the reason :)

To be sincere, I'm happier with my ATV boxes, running @balbes150 Armbian,  than I am with my Raspberrys, covered by tons of dust in this very moment.

Well if you can use an external WiFi dongle then you DO support WiFi ;)

@balbes150 You do a great job. I appreciate your voluntary work.

Around 2 decades ago I was involved in Device driver development for Solaris and Linux.

I left those low level work a decade ago in 2009. :D

Now my brain doesn't support or permit thinking after health issues last year ;)

But Yes using USB i can access internet no probs there. But I have a defect in my Brain :P "to make everything perfect" which is just impossible.

So caryon with your good work please. I will find a way sooner or latter for the Wifi and BT.

thank you.

New image 5.98 20191008

I sent a request to update the AML-g12 kernel (5.3.0) for AML images to a network repository.

Pay attention.

This kernel and the following aml-g12 images change the location of DTB files. They are now located at (/boot/dtb/amlogic).

The composition of "deb" packages with the kernel has also changed. I now use one "image" package for all files (the DTB package has been abolished and is no longer used).

For anyone who will update the kernel using the new kernel package, be SURE, after installing the package and BEFORE rebooting, to edit the files (uEnv.ini, extlinux.conf and boot.ini), add the "amlogic" subdirectory to the DTB setup line. The string must look like (/dtb/amlogic/filename.dtb). This information applies to all new images that will be released from now on.

@ashok are you sure you have the xplay Q? The ath10k module shouldn't be able to load on that device. It's common with TV boxes to find completely different hardware inside devices with the same name which is partly what makes them impossible to support. What DTB are you using?

Can you post an: armbianmonitor -u

Hi Everyone!

I have a TV BOX A95X F2 and i use armbian provided by @balbes150 and work wonderful with dtb meson-g12a-x96-max-rmii.dtb, thanks for hard work :).

But i have a problem.. i change my monitor to a LG Ultrawide 29" 2560x1080 21:9, but the linux dont recognize that resolution, work only with Full HD 1920x1080@75. I try force the resolution with xrandr, but not work too and the linux show the monitor is a 34" 1080p 16:9. I doubt if the drivers do not support that resolution or i cant do work properly. If anyone can help..

thanks

Can anyone with 5.98 and HDMI audio please do this: "speaker-test -c 2"

On both my x96 mini and KM8P the channels are reversed. Please tell me its not my head, haha.

@balbes150 Hi. I'm back on the VIM3 for now.
I'm unable to select 1440p display resolution. 4k works, and 1080p also. But there's no 1440p to choose from.
When I add the resolution manually it doesn't seem to work.

xrandr --newmode "2560x1440_60.00"  312.25  2560 2752 3024 3488  1440 1443 1448 1493 -hsync +vsync && xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 2560x1440_60.00

It's the same with DEV and DEFAULT images.
Except for this and HDMI-audio everything seems to work fine. Temperature is now also showing. Good job. Thank you.
