Hi

I have an Orange Pi PC  running "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i".

Can I update to Armbian Strech kernel 4.14 directly without lose of data and configurations? How can I do it? Thanks.

I want to do the same thing. Please, is it possible? I know it will be dangerous and probably break things so I will only do it on a clone of my current system, and fix issues myself. But I'd like to know if anybody has done it.

Kernel 3.4.y is too old for running Stretch or Bionic hassle free. You need to update a kernel first, while new kernel have different settings and support level (video acceleration is n/a) ...

Yes, I went the fresh install route, using apt-clone to restore all packages and then copying over the configuration for all services bit-by-bit, converting them as needed. Quite some work, but now the box is running better than ever!
