Goskum Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Hi I have an Orange Pi PC running "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i". Can I update to Armbian Strech kernel 4.14 directly without lose of data and configurations? How can I do it? Thanks.
hello_world.c Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I want to do the same thing. Please, is it possible? I know it will be dangerous and probably break things so I will only do it on a clone of my current system, and fix issues myself. But I'd like to know if anybody has done it.
Igor Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Kernel 3.4.y is too old for running Stretch or Bionic hassle free. You need to update a kernel first, while new kernel have different settings and support level (video acceleration is n/a) ...
hello_world.c Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Yes, I went the fresh install route, using apt-clone to restore all packages and then copying over the configuration for all services bit-by-bit, converting them as needed. Quite some work, but now the box is running better than ever!
