  1. I saw it in a comment on a youtube video and I try it to see if it was working before posting it here.
  2. You can actually buy Ugoos UT3S 2GB/16GB on gearbest for less than 40$ (or 36.50€) with GBUT3S coupon: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_141997.html?wid=21&lkid=10695139 There is already a dualboot between android and ubuntu, so it's maybe easier to port armbian to it.
  3. I can confirm that I use AV output for audio speaker and that I have 1.8GB reported in armbian since I have 2GB/16GB version of X96.
  4. Maybe this thread can help you : http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/rk3288-devices/eny-3288-devices/21763-howto-enable-maskrom-mode-perhaps-unbrick-your-device
  5. It's for the IR receiver which is not integrated on the board. I got this box too and I can confirm that it works well with balbes150 image (just test with mate, but downloaded latest with xfce). I just modified lowest freq to 250MHz instead of 100, since I found it not very responsive for a desktop usage.
  6. Yes, you're right. I answered too clickly. I was thinking of most amlogic or allwinner socs integrated in sbcs that are Mali4xx.
  7. I think you should have a look at this link: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/rk3288-devices/eny-3288-devices/25044-serial-port-on-xt-q8l-v10 and this one: https://bitbucket.org/DengueTim/q8-rk3288-kernel/wiki/Home I hesitate to buy this board for playing with linux and opencl since Mali4xx are not able to do that. Please, give us some feedback if you achieve to run linux 4.x on it.
  8. Modified link point to https://dl.armbian.com/betaimages/, which returns a 404 error .
  9. Hi, I saw several urls referencing nightlies/test images when looking at different posts within the forum: - https://image.armbian.com/betaimages/ - https://dl.armbian.com/*boardname*/ Which one should be used? or maybe should I have to build one from my own (following the first post recommandations to use dev target)? If the second url is to be used, maybe the 1rst post of this topic should be updated to be consistent with nightly images referenced in the download page of each board.
  10. I made a test on my banana pro with latest beta image (4.9.0). In alsamixer, the card is labelled sun4i-codec and it does not show any pcm output, only Power Amplifier and DAC items. There is no other device listed. When testing the sound output with: speaker-test - Dplug:front -c2, like described in man page. It fails with message relating to pcm.c in Alsa lib about unknown PCM card cards.pcm.front. Without specifying front, i got missing field pcm also within pcm.c.
  11. As answered to Tido via PM, I can also test images for my board (see my signature). My priorities are pine64 legacy with desktop experience and mainline and also H3 board with mainline kernel.
  12. I use uart again and here is what I get after root login: I success to login with the user I add via ssh and I saw this output: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/etc/update-motd.d/40-updates", line 145, in <module> updates = int(file.read()) ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: '' run-parts: /etc/update-motd.d/40-updates exited with return code 1 To run a command as administrator (user "root"), use "sudo <command>". See "man sudo_root" for details. I was able to launch dmesg: @qualcomm.com> I got this lsmod output: Module Size Used by ir_lirc_codec 13350 0 lirc_dev 18895 1 ir_lirc_codec ir_mce_kbd_decoder 13330 0 ir_sanyo_decoder 12869 0 ir_sony_decoder 12786 0 vfe_v4l2 772828 0 ir_jvc_decoder 12811 0 ir_rc6_decoder 12871 0 ir_rc5_decoder 12757 0 ir_nec_decoder 12892 0 sunxi_ir_rx 14684 0 videobuf2_dma_contig 20341 1 vfe_v4l2 videobuf2_memops 12600 1 videobuf2_dma_contig vfe_io 44013 1 vfe_v4l2 videobuf2_core 35245 1 vfe_v4l2 ss 41661 0 cedar_ve 20392 0 8723bs_vq0 1505876 0 8723bs 1500960 0 cfg80211 430729 2 8723bs_vq0,8723bs sunxi_sndcodec 19661 1 sunxi_i2s 13702 2 sunxi_codec 64741 1 btrfs 819998 0 xor 17197 1 btrfs raid6_pq 90985 1 btrfs
  13. You're right, in fact it boots by without hdmi output whereas it is desktop img. I also had a strange behavior. I was able to login via serial communication, but it reboots after I change root password and after that I can just login as root. I was also able to ssh via ethernet, but it was difficult to do anything (I try a dmesg but my terminal froze). I don't know if it comes from my local network or the pine64 with this beta armbian img. I will take time to investigate more this evening. My board works well with an older beta img.
  14. Last test for pine64 does not boot. (Checked also last week-end and same result, but no time to take usb2serial). I made a test with 2 different psu and 2 different sdcards that works with other img and other cards. Here is UART output:
  15. New test for pine64 with image from yesterday (18/11/2016): http://sprunge.us/BOfN es2gears output: libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate EGL_VERSION = 1.4 (DRI2) vertex shader info: fragment shader info: info: 596 frames in 5.0 seconds = 119.105 FPS 543 frames in 5.0 seconds = 108.448 FPS 600 frames in 5.0 seconds = 119.856 FPS 623 frames in 5.0 seconds = 124.525 FPS I was unable to install mali-sunxi-utils due to an error in installing libmali-sunxi-r3p0_1.0-1~armbian5.23+1_armhf.deb even if i use apt-get install -f. As for previous versions, the current desktop has several bugs with gtk elements: several items within windows like checkboxes are not visible until checked. Obviously, it makes it difficult to select the corresponding items (eg: show password of the wireless connection window or other some items of the download window within firefox). Playing videos seems much more smoother than in my previous test.
  16. I tested 11-9-2016 desktop image for pine64+. armbianmonitor - u uploaded data to : http://sprunge.us/LQeH I don't know if you also want such format for feedback, but here it is: Card Boot Network HDMI Install Date Performed by ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pine64+(1GB) yes yes yes yes 11.9.2016 jeanrhum My fealing about using this sbc and image: Desktop experience is not too bad. I'm writting this post from pine64 using firefox, while uploading a file (~2.3MB/s) to my nas (BPRO with armbian ) and while downloading another file from the internet (~500kB/s). Wireless card works out of the box and I directly connect to my personal wireless network without any problem. The main issue is the screen resolution, since I use an old screen (4:3 1280x960) and I have a resolution of 1280x720. I try to watch a video with pre-installed mpv, but it's a bit laggy in 720p (big buck bunny sample in mp4 and mkv).
  17. Ok I started working on this task and I just cloned the docs repo. I'm not very used to git and github, how can I assign the task to myself? I clicked on github to claim the task, is it enough? I will start writing an howto describing how to build new debian package from source. Currently i just backport a package from testing (shairport-sync), how to submit it to armbian repo? I don't see that in the documentation. I will also make a quick howto with shairport-sync and some simple related issues about audio config that is not yet explained.
  18. To summarize the discussion because it was difficult for me to follow all the answers. The initial objective was to identify a software to manage and process the documentation: - current input format is markdown - 2 output formats are expected: html and pdf Identified solutions: - mkdocs seems interesting (simple and configurable) to generate static html pages - pandoc can generate pdf with toc from many document formats - github wiki is based on markdown and offers a simple way to generate html doc as we can see with current redirection. Personnally, I used Sphinx for a previous project to generate from the same input files an html documentation and a pdf report (in fact generate latex and then pdf). The input format is restructured text, but markdown can be easily translated to that close language (e.g. with pandoc) more especially if there are already files for each section of the doc. I'm not sure this is the best solution for current case. One major issue is to define how people can contribute while keeping documentation structure with valid permalink: - public wiki solutions don't fit this requirement even if it is easy to rollback when problem occurs. - pull requests on a git repository for the documentation can be chosen, it requires that admins of this repo validate and integrate contributions, but it may offer more guarantee about structure preservation. The content of the documentation and its structure should also be addressed, but perhaps in another topic.
  19. I can also help. I can easily work on documentation (and translation also in french if needed). I can investigate some packaging stuff even if I am not a expert on this topic. I have an orange pi 2 mini, which I can easily use for testing. I have also a banana pro and a pine64+. Finally, thank you wery much for your work, my bpro as a nas, works so well with armbian.
