  1. The good thing is: You don't need to modify the contents of the image in order to make it run on an Utilite Pro (This image is supposed to support more or less all imx6 based devices). The nasty thing is: You need to modify the Utilite u-boot environment to make it compatible with the "distroboot-method" and you need to circumvent the limitations of the firmware. The Utilite u-boot cannot read from ext4 filesystems with 64 bit extensions enabled. Download the cubox-image and write it to an usb storage (a) Prepare another usb key (b) with an ext4 filesystem: sudo mkfs.ext4 -O ^64bit /dev/sdxX Mount both and copy the contents from (a) to (b) Adjust the rootfs UUID in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and /etc/fstab Plug-in usb key (b) to your Utilite and check if it boots up.
  2. ok i figured out how to install it ran the /root/install-aml.sh command successfully installed but how do i get to gui so i can complete 3) Upon completion of the installation, I replaced the "emmc_autoscript" file with "s905_autoscript" (and renamed it to "emmc_autoscript"). 4) Used the command "$ sudo blkid" to identify the UUID of my EMMC partition. 5) Opened the "armbianEnv.txt" file and updated the UUID with that of my EMMC partition, then saved the file.
  3. @calusbr i used your method but im stuck on my a95x and it just bootloops this is what ive got extraargs=earlycon rootflags=data=writeback rw no_console_suspend consoleblank=0 fsck.fix=yes fsck.repair=yes net.ifnames=0 bootlogo=false verbosity=7 usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u console=both # DTB file for this tvbox # fdtfile=amlogic/meson-gxl-s905x-nexbox-a95x.dtb fdtfile=amlogic/meson-sm1-a95xf3-air.dtb # set this to the UUID of the root partition (value can be found in /extlinux/extlinux.conf after APPEND root= or with blkid) rootdev=UUID=92139c84-3871-41d7-a3f2-e8a943cbfa87 # Enable ONLY for gxbb (S905) / gxl (S905X/L/W) to create fake u-boot header soc_fixup=gxl-
  4. Hi, I'm testing the latest Armbian 23.08 Bookworm on a Rock3A board. I have installed the Armbian base system on both SD-CARD and eMMC. For my application I need to use an Intel WiFi M.2 board, precisely an Intel AX210 NGW with both Bluetooth and WiFi enabled at the same time. Currently I have found this situation: boot from the SD-CARD (eMMC removed from its socket) Intel AX210 M2 card plugged-in the OS boots corectly installed the firmware-iwlwifi package and bluetooth+wifi works without problems boot from the eMMC memory (SD-CARD removed from its socket) Intel AX210 M2 card plugged-in the OS enter in bootloop boot from the eMMC memory (SD-CARD removed from its socket) No WiFi card plugged in the M2 socket the OS boots corectly boot from the eMMC memory (SD-CARD removed from its socket) Using the default Radxa WiFi M2 card based on AP6212 the OS boots corectly I have highlighted the condition that causes the bootloop. I know that this WiFi board is not officially supported from the Armbian distribution, but it works correctly when the OS boots from the SD-CARD, so it seems a problem related to booting the OS from the eMMC... If anyone could point me in the direction to look for information regarding this issue, or could help me how to better debug the issue (because actually the system does not print any error, it simply reboots). BR Samuele. PS. This is the log captured from the serial port while re-booting... 5. I'm trying to install the system to external usb drive on my OrangePi PC + using armbian-config tool but I get this error ### Board installation issue: File /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/exclude.txt does not exist or is not accessible! OS installed Armbian 23.8.1 with 6.1.53-current-sunxi kernel
  6. I get following error ### Board installation issue: File /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/a20/bootloader does not exist or is not accessible! I poked around and found folder /usr/lib/armbian-install which contains file with same content you mentioned above along with 3 subfolders titled a10, a20, a13. Would copying all content from armbian-install to nand-sata-install help?
  7. Hi all, I need to customize the /etc/fstab during the build to mount a mtd partition and also to override some mountpoints with tmpfs in order to reduce wearing on mmc. So, have added the following lines to customize-image.sh: cat <<EOT >> /etc/fstab # Reduce SD wearing by storing log files into ram (no need as overlayroot is used to freeze all the rootfs) tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, noatime, nosuid, nodev 0 0 tmpfs /run tmpfs defaults, noatime, nosuid, nodev 0 0 tmpfs /var/tmp tmpfs defaults, noatime, nosuid, nodev 0 0 tmpfs /var/log tmpfs defaults, noatime, nosuid, nodev, noexec 0 0 tmpfs /var/lib/logrotate tmpfs defaults,noatime,nosuid,nodev,noexec,size=1m,mode=0755 0 0 tmpfs /var/lib/sudo tmpfs defaults,noatime,nosuid,nodev,noexec,size=1m,mode=0700 0 0 # MTD EEPROM memory dev/mtdblock0 /mnt/mtd jffs2 ro,relatime 0 0 EOT However changes in /etc/fstab are overridden somewhere over the build process, and this is the resulting /etc/fstab: UUID=c8167755-b557-4288-9109-9108bc48dd94 / btrfs defaults,noatime,commit=600 0 1 UUID=27ac6cc6-eff3-4736-a7bd-5517e3b150c0 /boot ext4 defaults,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 2 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 Is there a way to safely patch the /etc/fstab file? Thanks very much! Andrea
  8. Hey @Devmfc, I followed the steps outlined in your GitHub repository (https://github.com/devmfc/amlogic-bootscripts-Armbian) to install [Armbian] on my TV Box. Here's a quick rundown of the steps I took: 1) Installed the system following the recommendations on the GitHub page. 2) Initiated Armbian via USB and proceeded with the installation using the "/root/install-aml.sh" command. 3) Upon completion of the installation, I replaced the "emmc_autoscript" file with "s905_autoscript" (and renamed it to "emmc_autoscript"). 4) Used the command "$ sudo blkid" to identify the UUID of my EMMC partition. 5) Opened the "armbianEnv.txt" file and updated the UUID with that of my EMMC partition, then saved the file. 6) Removed the USB device and restarted my Box. The substitution of "emmc_autoscript" with "s905_autoscript" proved to be the key, and everything is running smoothly now. Thanks once again for your invaluable assistance! Best regards!
  9. Can't get 20230825-current xfce desktop to boot. I have 8G. Note I'm still on u-boot 3.1.5. as I can't update using your updater, as per previous posts. Which is the "correct file"? 13. The patch you suggest checking applies to code that doesn't exist in the 5.10 kernel. I don't understand exactly how this works. I was able to connect a 10 year old LG monitor. But it didn't work when I connected it to the TV-box and turned on the TV-box. It worked when I first turned on the TV-box, and then after a few seconds I connected HDMI from the turned on monitor. But you can simply turn on the monitor after turning on the TV box. Preinstalled Android from this TV-box always sees HDMI connection, so this is a software problem.
  14. We flash hundreds of Orange PI 3 LTS boards with stock Armbian Debian Bullseye via nand-sata-install to install it on the onboard eMMC storage. Some boards after running for a week or more would randomly give this error and fail to boot: Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done. done. Gave up waiting for root file system device. Common problems: - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) - Check rootdelay* (did the system wait long enough?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules: ls /dev) ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exist (initramfs) We can turn the board on and off as many times as we want, the error persists. We can fix the problem by booting it from an Armbian SD again, mount the eMMC drive, then shut it down. We don't change any files. For some reason only mounting it from eMMC make it boot fine again. This has been confirmed with many boards. Any idea what can be going wrong or what we can manually add to the image to prevent it?
  15. Hi Roland, What is the name of the sensor that you using and how exactly are you trying to communicate with it via i2c? The Banana Pi M1 is based around the Allwinner A20 which is a completely different SOC to the Raspberry Pi so the i2c-bcm2708 driver will not be compatible. Seeming as i2cdetect works, this suggest that i2c-dev is indeed loaded, as far as I aware it simple under /dev for i2c devices such as /dev/i2c2 which would not exist if i2c-dev has not been loaded. you can double check this by running sudo dmesg | grep i2c. from my experience you should not need define the pins as this should already be declared in the i2c overlay. if you check the pin control configuration it should show that PB20 and PB21 that they are setup for i2c2. You find this by typing sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/pinctrl/1c20800.pinctrl/pinmux-pins | grep i2c. the output should look like this: pin 32 (PB0): 1c2ac00.i2c (GPIO UNCLAIMED) function i2c0 group PB0 pin 33 (PB1): 1c2ac00.i2c (GPIO UNCLAIMED) function i2c0 group PB1 pin 52 (PB20): 1c2b400.i2c (GPIO UNCLAIMED) function i2c2 group PB20 pin 53 (PB21): 1c2b400.i2c (GPIO UNCLAIMED) function i2c2 group PB21 Best of luck Ryzer

  20. Hello, I have been using Armbian OS on Rock Pi 4B. Full system is on NVME, not using SD card, and there is no eMMC chip on the board. During usage, I needed to shut it down improperly: by removing power cable, not through sudo shutdown now In the end I have following message during boot: Also, here is contents of dev folder: I was wondering if it is possible to fix this error. If not, I will reinstall with new image. Just spent much time on setting the environment, don't want to redo this all I would appreciate any help.
  21. I solved similar problem for ubuntu and I think similar steps can be used for armbian. Orange pi 5B and other boards based on some Rockchip CPU have a booting issue. When the eMMC is flashed with ubuntu (or other OS such as armbian as I believe), then if a blank SD is inserted, the board will not boot. Investigation of the problem through serial debug cable show that the bootloader select SD as the first boot device, and try to boot from it. Since there is no valid image, the system will panic and just halt. On x86 systems, the bootloader will fallback to the next boot device. The problem is related to the module "config_distro_bootcmd.h" in the u-boot section which contains boot steps. The system tries to boot from the SD without checking whether it has a valid imag or not. A quick and solid solution is to patch this moudle and rebuilt the u-boot. The following steps are used to solve the problem: 1. On the development Linux PC, such as virtual machine, with updated ubuntu, create a directory on the home/user folder mkdir $HOME/orangepi cd orangepi git clone https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/orangepi-build.git -b next cd orangepi-build 2. Run build script to install the required files: sudo ./build.sh then select u-boot only and select board type (ornage pi 5B in my case) Note: build.sh will install the required cross compile toolchain and source files when it runs first time. 3. To enable code editing without comparing with the git, edit the following file : sudo nano userpatches/config-default.conf set: IGNORE_UPDATES="yes" 4. Edit the following file using gedit or any other editor with root permission $HOME/orangepi/orangepi-build/u-boot/v2017.09-rk3588/include/config_distro_bootcmd.h Change line 81 from: "if mmc dev 0; then " \ to: "if mmc dev 0 && rkimgtest mmc 0; then " \ This will force the bootloader to check if there exist a valid image on the SD or not. I know this solution may be insuitable for other brands, but, of course, it can be applied for all Rockchip boards. Developers of other boards may implement their checking moudle. 5. repeat building process: sudo ./build.sh BOARD=orangepi5b BRANCH=legacy BUILD_OPT=u-boot KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no 6. Copy the generated deb package from output directory: orangepi-build/output/debs/u-boot to the home directory of the target board. 7. Install generated linux-u-boot-legacy-orangepi5b_1.0.8_arm64.deb package to the target board Important: Remove the SD from the board, power cycle ornage pi 5B and login using terminal emulator, then issue: sudo apt purge -y linux-u-boot-orangepi5b-legacy sudo dpkg -i linux-u-boot-legacy-orangepi5b_1.0.8_arm64.deb sudo nand-sata-install When asked select : 5 Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC it will update the u-boot section on the eMMC. Note: orange pi 5B has no SPI flash. u-boot is stored in eMMC or SD.
  22. Hello All, hope someone is fairing better with this. No real success in trying incremental steps. Adjusting regulators does not improve the situation at this point, was also entertaining the remote possibility of a floating pin. Am still trying a few ideas when have a moment. 23. For the X96Max_Plus_2101W there exist no working dtb file in the armbian dtb folder.
  24. is this forum live??? No answers to my plea for help, in about 24 hours,, so I downloaded and wrote to its sd card the latest cinnamon desktop editing hostame, hosts, and network/interfaces to match its former self before I put the sd card back in it and powered up. It expanded the filesystem, then asked me for a root pw, then asked me to for my own name & passwd, generated by env of EN-utf8 then announced it was starting the X server. 5 seconds later the hdmi monitor goes black, 30 seconds later the hdmi monitor announces no signal and goes to sleep. Powerdown to reboot, asks me for my pw and shuts down the monitor again. No network comes up so now I'm totally lost, so I turn it off, pull the card, mount it here and see if there is anything in the Xorg.0.log, does not exist. So back to /home/gene/.xsession-errors. can't find a monitor, so I change it for a bigger, older aoc , take the card, after ejecting in from this box, and retry with that monitor. Normal display while booting but at startx time, blanks this one for ever too, reporting no signal before it powers down. .xsession-errors: from that card after bringing it back to this machine: attached, what is this install missing? Thank you for any help. xsession-errors
  25. correct, unfortunately, some tvbox manufacturers have opted to use cheaper nand flash, rather than emmc-compatible flash, which is supported. Using nand flash directly requires additional support in the bootloader and kernel, which do not currently exist. (There has been _some_ work in the kernel on this, but it's nowhere near finished.) TLDR, you only be able to install to internal flash if it's eMMC.
